There are few monitors more profound, versatile, and perfectly designed for gaming than the Samsung Odyssey Ark gaming monitor. This monitor puts you in the game. With stunning colours and clarity, a response time you expect in a gaming monitor (165Hz refresh, 1ms response time) the consequences of your thoughts are immediate—like you are in the game. During gaming month Best Buy will have many gaming contests, and this one is for anyone who wants their gaming bigger and better than ever. The prize is the same monitor that we sent to Marcus (pictured above) for an honest review. I saved that sample at the office when it returned from Marcus so that I could give it away during gaming month. Read his review to learn about this monitor and enter this contest to win it!

Are you really in the game

Like most things in life that are real, gaming ability and gaming interest falls on a normal distribution (aka, a bell curve). Some of us are “Little Game” and some of us are “Big Game.” I fall on the far left at about a “3” on the scale since I don’t play games very much. But I work with talented writers on the Best Buy blog, like Jon Scarr and Matthew Rondina who are at “8” or “9” on the scale (reserving a “10” for professional eSport players).

Introspect for a minute. What kind of gamer are you? When hostile aliens come to visit Earth, will you be on the “A” list of people the army calls for the big “drone battle in the sky” or will you be someone, like me, they ask to do more farming to feed the troops? Hey I could use a big monitor like the Samsung Odyssey Ark to plan my crops!

Who in your life is the biggest gamer you know

Okay so I have established that I am not “Good Game” and certainly not “Big Game.” You likely have a good idea where you land on this scale, but how about the people in your life. Are they more game or less game than you? In other words, would they be more likely or less likely to get the most benefit from having this amazing monitor prize in their home. For some people this might be a sensitive topic: food fights have started with less incentive. I’m not trying to raise hackles, or move anyone to cast judgement. If a consensus is not immediately forthcoming, then this is likely the kind of question best settled with … a game! Perhaps you’ll get to play it using this monitor.

I understand, however, that many people might think this monitor is too big for their home. That’s okay. Samsung has a huge selection of gaming monitors, smart monitors, curved monitors, efficient productivity monitors, and more. In fact, many of them are on sale this month so you’ll likely find exactly the monitor you need for gaming, for school, for work ….

How to enter

Entering this contest is easy and you can enter in two different ways

  1. In a comment below: tell us the name of someone in your life (first name only) who is very close to the same level of gamer as you AND if you were going to compete to see who is actually better, what game would you want to play and why. AND
  2. Email your dream Samsung monitor: Visit this Samsung monitor page at Best Buy and take a screen shot of the monitor (or just include the name and model number) that you think is the perfect size and style for your needs. Then send this information in an email to bestbuyblog@bestbuycanada.ca with the subject line “Samsung Ark Monitor Contest.”

What you can win

At the end of the contest, we will randomly select one (1) winner from all eligible entries. This winner will receive the Samsung Odyssey Ark 55″ 4K Ultra HD 165Hz 1ms GTG VA LCD FreeSync Gaming monitor that had been reviewed on the blog.

This contest runs from May 31st to June 15th.

Remember you can enter one here in a comment and once in an email. I mentioned above that June is gaming month. We have many contests this month including our massive “Play at Best Buy” contest and even a board game themed contest. This is the month to tell everyone you know to enter our contests for amazing prizes.

  1. My friend Rob and I are equally inept…our game would be NHL 22 on X-box One.
Why? Because hockey is Canada’s game and the Leafs would have a chance to win!

  2. A monitor like this is meant to play single player games and final fantasy 16 is coming out next week which would be perfect

  3. My son Nolan and I would want to play MLB The Show because it is one of the games I am actually better than him at.

  4. My bestfriend, John, and I are big Overwatch fans and have been playing for years. We grind the competitive ladder, almost daily. If we were going to compete, we would certainly play Overwatch 2 and the only way would be either a Widow 1v1 headshot only or a best of 3 Ana paintball. As any Overwatch fan can attest to, these modes demonstrate true skill of these character. They both require expertise with being able to click heads, mechanical mastery and good positioning.

  5. I’d probably challenge my buddy Ben to see who could get who killed faster in Phasmophobia since that’s usually how it goes with us. It’s always fun to take a game that’s supposed to be cooperative and turn it competitive instead.

  6. I would choose Shannon to compete against, and I would choose Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on our Nintendo Switch because we are closest matched at skill in this game, we both have fun trash talking when playing this game, and we both love Mario Kart!

  7. My best friend Jeff and I have been ruthlessly competing in Street Fighter for decades. For a final deciding game, it would have to be on the newest Street Fighter 6.

  8. My friend Bob is the same level of gamer as me. If we were to compete we’d play F1 22 because we both love racing games.

  9. My Hubby Tyler and I are probably on the same level at gaming and we would play Super Mario Kart and I would win of course!

  10. My brother Henry and I love playing isometric ARPGs, and if we were to play together, I would challenge him to speed leveling under the same character class in Diablo IV.

  11. Close to the same level as me…I would have to say my sister, but I would definitely win! And we would be playing Fortnite as it is the only game I play. My son is the big gamer in the house and I don’t even come close to measuring up to him!

  12. I would play against my friend Ludo in the new Street Fighter 6. We’re big street fighter fans and the fighters would look so massive on that monitor.

  13. Momo is very close to the same level of gamer as me but I usually lose to her. We would play Mario Kart.

  14. I would challenge Carson to a NBA 2K tourney because we like the sport and this game. I’d likely lose.

  15. My husband Jamie and are are both big gamers. We don’t play the same kind of games though, so choosing something we could play together might be challenging! I think our best bet for a fair playing field would be something like Super Mario Kart. I think that would be pretty funny!

  16. I would challenge Ami and we’d play borderlands since we’ve spent the same amount of time playing it.

  17. I would love to challenge my nephew Mark to Super Smash Bros because we always talk about how each is more superior than the other.

  18. I would play with my son Colin and we would play Super Smash Bros because it is a game we’d love to challenge each other.

  19. Sarah and I are about the same gaming level. If we were to choose a game to compete with to see who’s actually better, I’d choose The Sims 4 (I know – weird, right?). This is because she’s a better interior decorator than I am. What better way to push myself to get better? 🙂

  20. I would play with my son Tris and we would play Super Smash Bros because it is a game we’d love to challenge each other. Probably Mario Kart too. Time to kick some A’s. LOL
