CES 2017 will have something for everyone! The world’s biggest Consumer Electronics Show is always THE place for new technology announcements for the coming year. Last year’s CES showed off many of the electronic items that ended up under the Christmas trees of Canadians a couple weeks ago. This year promises tech for the car, the home, the office and more.
CES takes place in Las Vegas during the first week of January. Some companies will release news of their new products early in the week, though the bulk of the announcements will come between January 5th and January 8th.
Best Buy will bring you coverage of all of the big announcements. Come to the blog regularly to see highlights from the press conferences, and images and video from the showroom floor. Also follow Best Buy on Twitter and Instagram for quick updates from Las Vegas. On the blog you can click on the CES 2017 label to this article to get all of the articles that we posts during the show.
Products we loved from last year’s CES
At most CES shows there are some new products on display that don’t find there way to consumers, and there are many others that gradually make it to the shelves during the year. Here are a couple stellar items that did get into the hands of Canadians this year.
ASUS Wireless AC5300 Tri-band Router
This amazingly fast router won the CES award for Best Innovation for Smart homes. Why? As your home’s domestic IQ rises, so do its Wi-Fi needs. This router has is able to stream data, even 4K data, to many devices simultaneously so that no one experiences slow internet (we all hate slow internet!). Plug-in Editor Brad Moon compared a couple of high end routers earlier this year and explained some of the benefits.
This Canadian Smart light company was a big hit at last year’s CES. Throughout the year we saw new products appear at Best Buy in the Playbulb line. In fact, many Canadians adorned their tree with Playbulb Christmas lights as reviewed by Erin on the blog.
What can we expect from CES 2017
This year’s CES promises more ways to connect the tech we use everyday. Smart home technology is something that more and more people are embracing. Expect to see a huge increase in the types of technology offered for smart home and the ways to connect and use multiple products from your mobile devices. Hopefully these will quickly find their way to Best Buy’s Smart home aisles too!
Like every year in recent memory we can expect to see new television technology, from companies like Samsung and LG. We’ll also see new computers as chips from companies like Intel continually get faster, and screen technology continually gets brighter and clearer.
We will endeavour to bring the CES 2017 highlights to you as soon as they are announced. Let us know in the comments what you are hoping gets announced this year.
I want a 3D printer in my kitchen to print my hamburger!
I am expecting more and more VR usage along with Automobile automation to take the spotlights…
