A vacuum cleaner isn’t something you normally think about upgrading unless it stops cleaning as well as it once did, it’s broken down, or your cleaning needs have changed.
I’ve been in a spot where I had a vacuum that wasn’t working as well as it used to, and I gradually become more frustrated as I noticed it wasn’t picking up the way it should. I’ve also had a vacuum that’s broken down, and that’s a situation where you don’t know what you’ve got until its gone. Suddenly your floors and carpets are magnets for dirt, dust, and debris and you have no way to pick it up.
When your vacuum cleaning needs change, if you get a big dog or you have someone with allergies in the house, you need a better vacuum with features like HEPA filters to block dust and dander from the air in your home.
These are the situations where most people look for a new vacuum, or at least they have been the situations I’ve been in where I start searching out brands and comparing. But this time around, if my vacuum gives up and has sucked its last spec of dust, I know exactly what I’m going to choose: the Dyson Ball Animal 2 vacuum cleaner.
I just spent the past few days cleaning my carpets with the Dyson Ball Animal 2 and I can say with authority that their claim to have the strongest suction is true. Just take a look at the portion of my review video where I’m vacuuming the carpet and you’ll see exactly what I mean: the suction is so strong it’s actually pulling the carpet up when it cleans it.

Testing the Dyson Ball Animal 2 vacuum cleaner
I have a Dyson vacuum cleaner, and I’ve always been impressed with it. Right out of the box it cleaned my floors, carpets, and tile, and I never had trouble with losing suction like I did with other vacuum cleaners. Although my Dyson is great, I’d upgrade it in a heartbeat for the Dyson Ball Animal 2 for a lot of reasons.
Reason one: the suction on the Dyson Ball Animal 2 is so strong it’s actually surprising
I unpacked the Dyson Ball Animal 2, plugged it in, and hit the carpet with it. When I started pushing it I could feel resistance, and although I’d vacuumed that very same carpet with my own Dyson, I’ve never felt that before. It was like the vacuum had such a strong suction to the floor that you had to put a little more effort into pushing it.
In my review video you can see how the vacuum cleaner looks like it’s hopping a bit as it comes closer to the camera. It’s hard to believe, but that’s the suction at work.
Reason two: the Dyson lets you clean every type of surface without stopping
Who has time to go from attachment to attachment when you’re cleaning your floors? The beauty of the Dyson Ball Animal 2 is that you can roll from your carpet to your hardwood and back again without missing a beat. If you’re like me and you see a dust string or a cobweb, you can stop without turning your vacuum cleaner off, detach the long reach wand, and clean up above you in an instant. That long arm even reached to the top of my nine foot ceilings.
Having this vacuum in your home means that every time you clean your floors, it’s a seamless, fast, experience.
Reason three: the Dyson Ball Animal 2 removes pet hair
I have two dogs and two cats, and those are just the animals I have in the house. They tend to leave their hair lying around in tiny piles like dust bunnies, and I find myself vacuuming twice a day during shedding season.
With the Dyson Ball Animal 2 you can clean up your clumps of fur, but you can also clean up your pet. The Dyson Groom tool looks like a cat brush and it attaches to the long wand. Just grab your pet and begin brushing him or her with the pet tool and you can remove excess hair that hasn’t hit the ground yet.
I tried it on my Border Collie Blue and he was terrified of both the vacuum and the pet tool, but I can see how handy it would be if I could get him to sit still long enough to properly use it.
Reason four: Dyson’s attachments make all types of cleaning easy
You can’t have a vacuum cleaner without attachments, and the Dyson Ball Animal 2 has more than enough for every type of cleaning.
There’s the Tangle Free Turbine tool to thoroughly clean your couches and other upholstery, the Combination tool to help you reach up into the rafters and grab those cobwebs, and the articulating hard floor tool for all of your hard floors. My favourite out of the bunch? I actually have two: the Stair tool and the Dyson groom tool.
I’ve already talked about the Dyson groom tool, and the stair tool is a great way to clean your carpeted or hardwood steps. In my old house I would use the stair tool by leaving the Dyson at the bottom of my flight of stairs and hauling the hose with the stair tool attached to the top. I’d just work my way down, cleaning every stair.
Reason five: I love Dyson’s whole machine HEPA filter and Hygienic bin
I have two people in my house with allergies, so when I vacuum I get them to leave the room if possible. If I don’t the sneezing starts about 2 minutes after I begin vacuuming.
Unfortunately this house is really small, and after we moved here I realized that getting them to leave the room is pretty much pointless because the dust will head toward them anyway. That’s why I was so interested in the whole machine HEPA filter on the Dyson Ball Animal 2; where no allergens will escape when you’re vacuuming.
I kept my two dust-fearing family members in the room with me while I vacuumed, and I really cleaned the floors for at least 15 minutes. Not a sneeze came from either of them, and trust me, they were surprised too.
When you’re finished cleaning all you have to do is pop off the bin, push down on a button, and it empties everything straight into your trash. Nothing flies through the air and everything is contained in a garbage bag.
Overall review on the Dyson Ball Animal 2
Those are only five reasons why, after using the Dyson Ball Animal 2 vacuum, I’d choose this vacuum over the others I’ve tried. You just can’t beat a vacuum with this type of suction, and despite the fact that I used it all over my house, it didn’t plug up or lose suction once. It’s even better when you know it also works to contain all the allergens in the air.

Its too heavy for my taste, my friend has one. But those nozzles they are just the best for hairs. To be honest i did even try to vacuum-comb my friend’s cat with that one. Cat was pretty scared of it cause its too loud even among other vacuums. But it did an awesome job J
I think it works as great with those plush cat houses that are covered with hair and also with any rug that need anti-hair combing.
It definitely makes the cleaning easier, Thank you shelly for sharing a nice article. Most of the time Dyson groom tool helps a lot while cleaning, and this article explains more than needed accessories which is really appreciated.
How well did the Dyson handle vacuuming pet hair? How well did the attachments work? I’ve heard nothing but good things about Dyson, but still wonder if it’s worth the price.
