losing weight by cooking at home

Eating healthy is one of the most challenging parts of losing weight or just staying healthy in general. Even if you’ve exercised that day, it’s all too easy to grab something on the go when you’re hungry. Unfortunately, that something is usually fast food or carb-rich snacks.

What you put in your body matters just as much as the energy you exert when you’re working out, and that’s why losing weight and good health really begins and ends with cooking at home. How can you cook at home when you’re busy or always on the go? It’s simple when you stock your kitchen with 3 small appliances to help cook healthy at home.

Pressure cookers make meals in minutes

Instant PotIt’s hard to believe until you own one, but a pressure cooker really can improve your food quality and cut down on the time it takes to create meals. Pressure cookers like the Instant Pot are all-in-one appliances that cook rice, slow cook, make stews, boiled eggs, and can even sauté right in the pot.

Because pressure builds up in the device to cook your food, all of the nutrients are captured and remain in your food where they belong. Food cooks quicker so your meal is on the table faster, and there’s a huge community of Instant Pot users who share healthy recipes to give ideas for something new every day.

Everything tastes so flavourful and delicious when cooked in a pressure cooker, and it’s definitely one of the must-have appliances if your goal is to cook healthy at home.

Blenders whip up healthy soups and smoothies

vitamixSmoothies aren’t just beverages; done right, a smoothie is an instant meal replacement. Having a performance blender to create a smoothie in seconds can be a lifesaver when you’re so hungry you’ll reach for anything.

High performance blenders from brands like Vitamix, Blendtec, and Ninja crush anything you put in the container. Because they can blend at high speeds and have ultra-sharp blades, they blast though nuts and ice. Some models can also make a quick soup, while others offer you to-go glasses you can take with you to work.

Keeping a blender on your countertop is one of the best ways to eat healthy, and it’s a must-have appliance if losing weight is your goal. All you need to do is add your ingredients, turn it on, and you’re ready to eat.

Steam for quick and delicious fish and vegetables

steamerIf you’ve ever eaten an amazing meal of fish and vegetables in your favourite restaurant, you’ve probably wondered how it was prepared. In a lot of cases, the chef uses steam to seal in the flavour of the food without adding a lot of fat and calories.

Having a steamer in your kitchen is one of the smartest choices you can make when you’ve decided to get healthy or you’re losing weight. A larger steamer lets you cook large dishes like fish or whole chicken, and many models have extra steam baskets so you can cook vegetables together with settings for different cook times.

There are so many great recipes you can try using steam, and because the flavour of the food is sealed in your taste buds will feel fulfilled too.

These three small appliances can help you kick off a new year and a new fitness program. Check out all of the small appliances you can choose to cook healthier at home, and start your new year off on the right foot.

  1. There was this guy I knew who came to the escape room near me. He was overweight, and then he suddenly lost a significant amount of weight so when I asked him he said he did it by cooking at home as it is healthier.

  2. It feels like every year at this point I start thinking about getting healthier in the new year. While I have lost about 20 pounds in the past couple months, I can’t recommend stress as a good weight loss program.

I hope that these devices work out for others who want to lose weight. I might look into them more come January so I can start living a more healthy lifestyle.
