Day 2 of our 12 Days of Christmas gifts is the one, the only, the Instant Pot Pressure Cooker. If you’ve never heard of the Instant Pot or you have heard and it’s on your list this year, I’m going to give you what I think are, after using one myself for two years, the highlights of this amazing appliance.
What is an Instant Pot pressure cooker?
If you’re never used an Instant Pot, you’re probably wondering exactly what it is. The Instant Pot Pressure cooker is a 7-in-1 or a 9-in-1 device that does the job of many other appliances. An Instant Pot can pressure cook your food in half the time it takes to cook it in the oven, and it’s also a rice cooker, a steamer, a slow cooker, and even a tool to help you can fruit and vegetables.
Why you would give Instant Pot as a Christmas gift
After using the Instant Pot for two years, I can give you a bunch of reasons why anyone would love one for Christmas.
With Instant Pot, dinner is always half hour away
When you have an Instant Pot in your kitchen you don’t have to wait long for dinner. I always used to leave dinner until 5 pm and then pull out the mac and cheese because I didn’t want the kids to have to wait until 6 or 7 to eat. That meant anything healthy was out of the question unless I planned ahead.
With an Instant Pot you can cook a chicken breast, steak, or big pot of spaghetti sauce in half the time you’d normally need. Just put everything in the pot, seal it up so the pressure builds, and release the pressure half hour later.
Everything you cook tastes amazing
When you cook chicken or beef in the instant pot, it’s never dry or tough. You’ll find that the chicken pulls apart and shreds very easily, and the roast beef is always amazing. Steamed veggies also take on more flavour when you pressure cook them.
Smart programs make cooking easy
Want to make perfect hard-boiled eggs? Just put them in the Instant Pot and touch the smart program. You can sauté with a touch of a button, use the slow cooker, or just hit warm and keep your dinner ready until you are. The new Instant Pot 9-in-1 also has a smart program for canning, so if you’re making jam you can seal your jars in your Instant Pot.
Recipe ideas are limitless
When you have an Instant Pot you can join all of the cool online communities and pages that focus on Instant Pot recipes. There’s breakfast, lunch, dinner, and dessert, and you’d be surprised at how many different dishes you can easily cook up in a pressure cooker. You can even layer your meals and cook a main dish and a few sides in one go.
When you’re looking for Christmas gifts this holiday, you really need to check out the Instant Pot pressure cooker. It’s the one small appliance I pull out a few times a week, and it’s never let me down on a single meal.
