Setting up iQAir Atem
There are only a few parts to the iQAir Atem air purifier, so it’s very easy to set up. The power plug is threaded through the back of the air purifier and the base snaps in place. While you can see where the air streams in and out of the purifier, there is also a funnel of sorts you can snap on that will direct clean air wherever you are sitting or sleeping. The funnel is called the PureJet diffuser.
While some room air purifiers may take hours to clean the air in a room, the Atem immediately delivers clean air to your personal breathing zone. Once you have the air purifier plugged in you can just touch the center of it to turn it on. You can continue to tap for a higher speed or to turn it off.
Testing iQAir Atem air purifier
My husband has allergies to airborne pollutants, and those pollutants tend to trigger his asthma. The conditions that I’ve been testing the iQAir Atem have been extra dusty as we’re also in the middle of a renovation where we had to remove a huge section of wall to upgrade an electrical panel.

This device is compact enough to easily fit in a small space. It’s also thin enough to easily fit in a backpack, bag, or suitcase if you are going to travel with it.
HyperHEPA filtration system captures 99% of pollutants
We kept the iQAir Atem air purifier in a small space that is around 50 square feet. It should work in a space up to 150 square feet, but you’ll want to keep it directed at you when you are using it.
The iQAir Atem air purifier has a HyperHEPA filtration system. It can capture up to 99% of pollutants in your air including ultra-fine particles like bacteria, mold, and pollen as small as 0.003 microns. That’s actually smaller than a virus particle, and HyperHEPA filtration should remove particles that are 100 times smaller than those removed by standard air filtration technology.

While all you have to do is touch the iQAir Atem to switch speeds or turn it off, the Atem app is easy to use and gives you wireless control of your air purifier. There are several different options you can set within the app.
You can change the speed settings to customize how fast it runs at low, medium, and high. There is also something called a proximity sensor. That’s a setting that will automatically turn the air purifier off when you walk away from it. That’s a great feature, especially if you primarily use it while working or at night. I tested it out and it turned off within 30 seconds of my leaving the room.
Easy to change air filter
iQAir recommends you replace the air filter once every four years, but it will depend on how often you use it. You can see the lifespan of the air filter in the iQAir Atem app, and when it’s time to switch it out there are instructions in the app too.
There is an Intelligent Filter Life Monitor on this air purifier. You’ll see a visual indication beneath the air outlet diffuser on the Atem air purifier itself. It will flash red when it needs to be changed. I used it steadily for two weeks and the filter was still at 90%.
Runs whisper quiet
The iQAir Atem air purifier is so quiet you can’t even tell it’s on unless you see the blue light. The default setting for low runs at only 20 db, and even when I had it set to the default setting for high it wasn’t that loud. Medium speed sounds like a nice rush of white noise.
