xmas2016-drones

Remote controlled planes and helicopters have been around for many years but they never caused the frenzy that we have seen with drones. They have invaded our psyche and become a part of our culture. This is the year that drones have emerged as a cultural phenomenon. You can quickly become the envy of your friends if you win one of the 3 incredible drones that Best Buy is awarding as prizes in this contest.

I am currently reading Dickens’ Bleak House, an amazing story that includes many references to 19th century culture. For example, on page 344 Dickens includes in his descriptions of the Smallweed family, a family that is basically born adult, presumably skipping childhood and childish things, numerous childish games and toys that were popular in his day:

“… her twin brother couldn’t wind up a top for his life. He knows no more of Jack the Giant Killer or of Sinbad the Sailor than he knows of the people in the stars. He could as soon play at leap-frog or at cricket as change into a cricket or a frog himself.”

I am sure that if Dickens was writing in 2016 he would include references to flying a drone. They are here to stay as more and more people are using them for more and more things.  Here are the incredible drones we are offering as prizes in this contest and some of their key features:

  1. Imagine the possibilities. I’m no YouTuber but imagine all the fun I could have with the DJI Phantom 4. From getting the perfect birds eye view from my backyard of my local neighbourhood, to bringing it to the cottage to take an aerial view of myself fishing on the dock and trying to spot the loch ness monster. Or having the feature of the obstacle Sensing System with the 4k video to catch Bigfoot in the woods. But all jokes aside, most importantly the DJI Phantom 4 is easy to fly with obstical avoidance and with live HD. And did I mention the selfie feature. I’m sold on this. Would be amazing to see where my creativity takes me if I got my hands on this beautiful creation of the DJI Phantom 4.

  2. Obstacle avoidance is an awesome feature, especially for beginners like me who would probably run into things.

  3. My favorite feature is being able to fly the DJI Mavic at 65 km/hr. Have been wanting a drone for the past year, they look like a ton of fun. Thanks for the chance and good luck too all.

  4. Wow! I never would have guessed a drone could go 70km/h! And over 20 minutes of flying time? Technology is awesome!

  5. I really like the idea of the obstacle avoidance sensing system that is a feature of the DJI Phantom 4 4K.

  6. I gotta win one of these drones, it’ll give me an excuse to buy a new phone to control it
The battery life is just 1 of my favorite features
