Super Mario Bros. Wonder

The Nintendo Switch continues to be a huge success for Nintendo. After 6 years on the market, Nintendo’s hybrid console isn’t showing any signs of slowing down. In the latest Nintendo Direct, a whole slew of new games coming in 2023 and 2024 for the Nintendo Switch were announced. One of the most noteworthy announcements from Nintendo was a brand-new 2D side-scrolling Mario game called Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

In addition, Sonic Superstars, Vampire Survivors, Batman: Arkham Trilogy, Dragon Quest Monsters: The Dark Prince and Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol 1 were some of the other games announced for Nintendo Switch. Let’s take a look at some of the biggest announcements and new games coming to Nintendo Switch!

Detective Pikachu Returns

The sequel to the 2018 Nintendo 3DS game, Detective Pikachu is coming to the Nintendo Switch this fall. Explore the beginning of the legendary detective Pikachu’s story in Detective Pikachu Returns. Super Mario RPG

One of my all-time role-playing games is coming to the Nintendo Switch. Originally released on Super NES, Super Mario RPG is launching November 17, 2023 on the Switch and will feature new and updated graphics. Mario, Bowser, Princess Peach, and original characters Mallow and Geno are all here in an RPG that is filled with twists, turns and most importantly treasure.

Mario must team up with his allies and face a menacing force known as the Smithy Gang in order to recover seven stars and repair the Star Road.

A visually enhanced Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon and a brand-new Princess Peach game announced

Originally released on the Nintendo 3DS, a visually enhanced version of Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon is in development for the Nintendo Switch. In this game you explore haunted mansions filled with ghosts and challenges. No firm release date other than 2024 was given.

Additionally, a short gameplay video of a new Princess Peach game was shown during today’s Nintendo Direct. Unfortunately, not a whole lot of information was given. However, Nintendo has said that we can expect this new game featuring Princess Peach as the main character to launch in 2024.

Pikmin 1 and 2 HD remasters

Exciting news for Pikmin fans! The first two Pikmin games, which were originally released on the Nintendo GameCube, are getting high-definition versions for the Nintendo Switch. In Pikmin, Captain Olimar takes charge and leads his trusty Pikmin companions through various challenges to gather ship parts needed for their return home. And, in Pikmin 2, you can switch between controlling Olimar and Louie. Their mission is to gather valuable treasures in order to repay a debt before time runs out.

The physical version of the first two Pikmin games, Pikman 1+2, will be released on September 22, 2023. As a result, this means that with the addition of these two games, all four main games in the Pikmin series will be accessible and playable on the Nintendo Switch platform.

Finally, the biggest announcement from the latest Nintendo Direct was Super Mario Bros. Wonder. Nintendo is calling this the next evolution of 2D side-scrolling Super Mario Bros. games and it looks fantastic! Super Mario Bros. Wonder introduces new playable characters like Princess Peach, Princess Daisy, and Yoshi, alongside the familiar faces of Mario, Luigi, and Toad.

The game features Wonder Flowers and when Mario touches one a variety of things may happen. As a result, pipes may suddenly spring to life, swarms of enemies might emerge, and characters could change their looks. Moreover, these unexpected changes add an element of unpredictability to the gameplay, bringing excitement and various surprises to each course.

Additionally, this game showcases Mario’s latest power-up, enabling him to transform into Elephant Mario for unique abilities! Super Mario Bros. Wonder launches on October 20, 2023 on Nintendo Switch.
