Circle your calendars on June 23, 2015, as that date marks the eagerly awaited launch of Rocksteady Studios’ final installment of the Batman: Arkham series, Batman: Arkham Knight.

Coinciding with the launch, Sony is releasing not one, but TWO exciting new PlayStation 4 hardware bundles, giving all Bat fans some excellent options to upgrade to Sony’s latest gaming console. Let’s take a look at both!

Limited Edition PlayStation 4 Batman: Arkham Knight Bundle

This is the bundle I’m most excited about—check out all the cool inclusions! Here’s what you’ll get in the Limited Edition PS4 Batman: Arkham Knight Bundle:

• Limited Edition 500GB PlayStation 4 in Steel Gray with custom Batman: Arkham Knight Silk Screened Face Plate
• Limited Edition DualShock 4 Wireless Controller in Steel Gray
• Physical copy of Batman: Arkham Knight
• The Last of Us: Remastered Digital Download Voucher
• PlayStation Plus 3-month membership

batmanconsole (2).jpgWhat an awesome package, and I especially love the custom Batman face plate with matching DualShock 4 controller. The regular PlayStation 4 console already looked great, with its sleek, tilted parallelogram design, but it looks even better in Steel Grey. As you can see in the image to the right, this Limited Edition console continues the PS4 hardware design choice of having a glossy top, and matte bottom, only this time both sections are coloured grey.

Also included in the bundle is a copy of Batman: Arkham Knight, letting you jump straight in and experience the action-packed finale of the Batman: Arkham series. If you’re a game collector like me, and take immense pride in displaying your game library, it’s nice to see this bundle packs the game on physical disc.

As an added bonus, this PS4 bundle includes a digital download voucher for The Last of Us: Remastered. This was one of the most impressive and visually stunning games for PS3, now fully remastered in 1080p and 60 frames-per-second on PS4. There are very few games that I recommend every gamer to experience for themselves, but The Last of Us definitely falls into that category.

Lastly, this bundle packs in a PlayStation Plus 3-month membership, giving you access to a lot of benefits such as the monthly Instant Game Collection (lets you download and play games for as long as you maintain membership), the ability to play online multiplayer, and discounts up to 75% on classic games and new arrivals.

PlayStation 4 Batman: Arkham Knight Bundle

batmanconsole3.jpgA slightly less expensive alternative is the PlayStation 4 Batman: Arkham Knight Bundle, which includes the following:

• 500GB PlayStation 4 Console (Jet Black)

• DualShock 4 Controller (Jet Black)
• Batman: Arkham Knight
• The Last of Us: Remastered Digital Download Voucher
• PlayStation Plus 3-month membership

As you can see, the big difference between this bundle and the Limited Edition version is that it comes with a regular Jet Black PS4 console, with matching black DualShock 4 Controller. Sure it might not have the collector appeal as the Limited Edition bundle, but considering you get two full games (that you’ll want to play for a very long time to come), and a 3-month membership to PlayStation Plus, there’s a tremendous amount of value here. You’ll have a supercharged gaming summer guaranteed if you pick this bundle up!

Batman: Arkham Knight PlayStation Exclusives

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has collaborated with Sony to make PlayStation 4 the best place to play Batman: Arkham Knight with some amazing exclusives for the platform. These exclusives include:

• Scarecrow Nightmare Missions
• Two custom Batman skins: Justice League 3000 Batman and Classic TV Series Batman
• Custom Batmobile skin: Classic TV Batmobile

In the Playstation-exclusive Scarecrow Nightmare Missions, Gotham City is contaminated with Scarecrow’s fear toxin, changing the city into a hellish nightmare filled with Scarecrow’s terrifying undead. You must battle your way through the city using the all-new Batmobile, confronting a giant version of Scarecrow—and your own fears.

The PlayStation 4 version of Batman: Arkham Knight will feature custom Batman and Batmobile skins, such as the Justice League 3000 Batman suit, the Classic TV blue/grey Batman suit, and the Classic TV Batmobile. Sony says all of this bonus content will be PlayStation-exclusive until at least fall 2015.

  1. I am getting so sick of these “console exclusives” on cross-platform games.  If I’m paying the same amount of money as someone else for a game, I should get access to the same content.  It’s happened with Destiny, it’s happening with Arkham Knight and it’s happening with the next Tomb Raider game as well.  I’m sure there are others, too.  If I chose to get an Xbox One instead of a PS4, why should I be screwed out of content for a game, and then be charged the same amount as PS4 owners?

Maybe I’m just sounding like a self-entitled prig, but at the end of the day, why are console manufacturers paying money to screw over customers?  This type of tactic only pushes me further away from getting a PS4 now.

  2. @Juice0904 Don’t let that push you away from just a ps4, Xbox has done the same thing in the past, and we are lying to ourselves if we try to say they won’t do the same thing in the future.

That being said, I have to agree with you, but I would take it one farther.  I don’t like exclusives in general.  I understand games that SONY themselves produced not being on the XBOX, but outside of that why should we seperate the two systems?  Sure, they are fighting for the marketplace, but all that does is divide the gamers.  No exclusive content of any kind is done in the customers best interest, it is always about the companies.

  3. That’s why I mentioned Tomb Raider, @Sir_Bee.  There is an Xbox exclusive, though I think it’s a timed one.

I went with the Xbox One because I was firmly entrenched with Microsoft with the Xbox 360, and most of my friends migrated to the Bone.

I don’t mind console exclusives – and in most cases, they are made by either Microsoft or Sony game studios.  Halo, Sunset Overdrive, Gears of War, etc are all Microsoft Game Studios.  Conversely, Uncharted, the Last of Us, God of War, Little Big Planet etc. are all Sony Entertainment games.  Each obviously has their own studio behind it (eg. 343 Industries, Naughty Dog, etc), but they are ultimately projects that are closely controlled by either Microsoft or Sony.

  4. I can see why Microsoft nabbed Tomb Raider, they needed an adventure title to compete with Uncharted. It was actually a really smart move in my opinion, although now that Uncharted 4 has been delayed, the two titles are no longer scheduled to be released in the same quarter as each other… but still, Xbox needed that one. Since we still haven’t been given a firm answer on the exact details of that exclusivity deal though, we’ll still have to wait and see if it rolls out to PS4 eventually.

But yeah, it’s a constant battle on both sides as to who can cut a bigger check for timed exclusivity… Sony with Destiny, Arkham, Microsoft currently with Dragon Age, CoD… it goes on and on, and the publishers are banking the highest offer for each.
