Play at Best Buy is months of great gaming announcements

Each year around this time, excitement amongst gamers begins to grow. Usually, myself and Melanie from the Blogue de Best Buy head down south for the big gaming convention in early June. However, this year, like many other things, it’s going to be different. Say hello to Play at Best Buy.

All the announcements and surprises that usually happen over the course of a week are now going to be spread out from May until August. And, at Best Buy, we are here to bring you all of these groundbreaking announcements, and surprise reveals during our summer long Play at Best Buy event.

Let’s take a look at what you can expect on the Best Buy Blog and from Best Buy over the course of these next few months during Play at Best Buy.

An entire summer full of exciting video game news and announcements

You can expect exciting news and announcements covered here on the Best Buy Blog from some of the biggest names in the industry. Nintendo, PlayStation, Xbox, EA, Ubisoft, Google and Activision are just a few of the companies that you can expect to hear new game announcements from. Don’t worry, there will be a lot more!

In fact, we’ve already heard from Xbox with a first look at next-gen games for Xbox Series X, and then Sony gave us an extended look at Ghost of Tsushima. And, Epic gave us a first look at its next-generation Unreal Engine 5 running on a PlayStation 5 dev kit. Nintendo, out of nowhere, surprised us with a Paper Mario: The Origami King announcement for the Switch.

Here are a few upcoming events that we will be covering on the blog in the next few months. As always, new events will be announced and some might even be delayed. Don’t worry, both myself and Melanie are on top of things to keep you updated with the latest and greatest news from around the video game industry all summer long.

PlayStation 5 reveal – June 11

PlayStation fans have been waiting for a PS5 reveal and we are all expecting one soon. Though, nobody knows when. It seems Sony isn’t quite ready to talk about PS5 just yet with two big games coming to PS4 this Summer, The Last of Us Part 2 and Ghost of Tsushima. When Sony is ready to draw the curtain back on the PlayStation 5, both Melanie and I will be here to cover every single detail. We can’t wait!

PC Gaming Show – June 13

This 6th annual PC Gaming Show is sure to be a big one. It will be jam-packed with tons of exciting PC game reveals, announcements, interviews and never-before-seen trailers. The PC Gaming Show is a celebration of PC gaming in general and we’ll be right here to give you all the highlights from this year’s event.

Cyberpunk 2077 Night City Wire – June 25

Without a doubt one of the biggest games this fall is Cyberpunk 2077 and it’s coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and Stadia. At last year’s Xbox press conference when Keanu Reeves made a surprise appearance alongside a new trailer for the game, the crowd went bonkers.

Now, we are months away from release and CD Projekt Red is hosting an event called Night City Wire for one final showcase of the game before launch. We’ll cover every juicy detail from this event on the Best Buy Blog, and then some.

EA Play 2020 – June 18

EA Play is always an exciting event, and I am expecting EA Play 2020 to have a few surprises. We know that we’ll hear and see more about Madden NFL 21 but what else does EA have up its sleeves? There have been some rumours going around as to what might be shown. Regardless, you can count on Best Buy and Play at Best Buy to have you covered.

New Game+ Expo – June 23

The New Game+ Expo is a collaboration between 14 video game publishers based in both North America and Japan. Expect to see exciting announcements from Sega, KOEI TECMO, AKSYS Games, SNK and more.

Ubisoft Forward – July 12

Ubisoft is one of my favourite publishers and I’m really looking forward to seeing what they have in store for us this year. We’ve already seen some amazing footage of a brand new Assassin’s Creed game called Assassin’s Creed Valhalla. I expect we’ll see and hear more about this at Ubisoft Forward. I’m also excited to hear more about Watch Dogs: Legion, Rainbow Six Quarantine, and Roller Champions.

Xbox Series X first party games showcase

Microsoft gave us a first look at next-gen games for Xbox Series X earlier in May. And, we know that sometime in July they will dedicate a time to focus on the incredible games coming from Xbox Game Studios in a first party games showcase.

Xbox has 15 game studios, so there is bound to be some new game announcements and maybe even some pricing info and release date on Xbox Series X. I can dream can’t I? And, 343 Industries has confirmed that Halo Infinite will be shown during the event.

What you can expect from Best Buy all summer during Play at Best Buy

So, now you know that you’ll get all the great gaming news and announcements this summer from the biggest publishers on the Best Buy Blog. What’s next? Well, for starters, you can expect great contests to win gaming gear as we always do at this time of year. Last year we gave away an ASUS Gaming Monitor, two PlayStation 4 Pro prize packs, two Xbox One X prize packs, two Nintendo Switch prize packs, and a PC Gaming prize pack.

What contests will we have this year for Play at Best Buy? I bet Martin has some amazing prizes just waiting to give away. However, unlike the past, these contests will be spread out over the summer beginning in June and continuing through August. Furthermore, you can expect to see deals on games and gear. Oh! We’ll also have pre-orders open for many of the games announced this summer and you can bet your bottom dollar there will be great savings.
