Nintendo Switch is the ultimate family gaming console. It has the flexibility to take anywhere your family goes, and the versatility to go from individual play to interactive or competitive play. Also, the selection of games continues to excite us with each new release. Their newest game, Pokemon Scarlet / Pokemon Violet comes out this month and Best Buy is giving away a copy of the double pack version of the game, a Nintendo prize pack, and a Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition Switch OLED, for one amazing ultimate Nintendo prize.
Do you have a favourite Nintendo memory?
Families have been enjoying Nintendo gaming for decades. My favourite Nintendo memory is from when my children were young playing Mario Kart with my father-in-law Dan. The fun started with selecting a driver, “Granpa, I want to be Bowser; you got to be him last time!” which to an outsider may have seemed confrontational but the atmosphere was total fun and laughs.
Pokemon too has been thrilling adults and children since 1996. What started as a very successful video game for the Game Boy quickly evolved into anime, trading cards, manga, and tons of related toys and other merchandise. Few on this planet have not experience Pokemon in one way or another. This contest will certainly create lasting memories for someone in Canada. The prize includes a Nintendo Switch console on which they will play countless games at home, at friends’ homes, and on road trips. One of those games will be the new Pokemon Scarlet / Pokemon Violet that’s also included in this prize. And the winner will also enjoy a collection of Nintendo Pokemon merchandise. It’s pretty much a perfect Pokemon prize!
Many people will be gifting Nintendo this season
You may be wondering what are the best games to give Nintendo Switch gamers this season. You might already have an opinion about it, or you may be interested in what games other players are recommending. We sent our writers to a Nintendo holiday showcase event to get some insights and you can read about their experiences on the blog. Also, scroll through the comments under that article. For the next two weeks, Canadians will be leaving their Nintendo Switch game recommendations under that article as one of the methods of entering this contest. Here are all of the ways you can enter this contest:
How to enter
Entering this contest is easy and you can enter in three different ways:
- In a comment below, tell us what your favourite Nintendo memory is, what game, was involved, and why this memory stands out for you.
- In a comment beneath the “Nintendo Holiday Showcase” article, tell us which Nintendo Switch game sold at Best Buy (include the model number) is your gift recommendation for Canadians this season.
- For up to two (2) additional entries, create a public post on a social media channel (one entry per channel!) telling your friends and followers which version “Pokemon Scarlet” or “Pokemon Violet” you’ll play first if you win this Nintendo Switch prize pack; include the hashtag #BestBuyNintendoSwitchContest, so we can find your post, and include one of the pictures showing on this article.
Then return here and tell us in a comment below on which channel you posted it and the name of your channel (since many people use pseudonyms) so that we can check and verify your entry. You can use any social media channel (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.), but the post must be public so we can verify it is there.
What you can win
At the end of this contest, we will randomly select one (1) winner to receive the Nintendo Switch Pokemon Scarlet and Violet Prize pack that includes the double game and the Nintendo Switch OLED Pokemon Scarlet & Violet Edition.
This contest runs from Nov 17th until Dec 5th.
Remember you can enter in three different way as discussed above. Nintendo is best played with friends and our contests are best enjoyed with you share with family and friends to increase that chances that either you or someone close to you wins a great prize.

We can rent a large room and a Switch at the local library. The young people had a birthday celebration and gaming with friends on the library’s big screen was great fun. Mario Kart stirred up fun competition amongst all. I did not make it into the play offs, but it was sweet how the kids all consoled my dreadful driving.
Playing Duck Hunt in competition with my sisters.
I was probably 10 when we got an original NES for Christmas and spent hours as a family playing Super Mario Bros and Tetris
Nintendo and SNES are still my favourite gaming systems of all time! I will never forget when my brother, sister and I got a copy of Super Mario Bros 3 for Christmas one year. We played all day trying to see who could find the next secret or beat the next level or get the most points! We rarely got along and found something we all enjoyed because of the age gap between us, but this worked to bring us together.
My favourite Nintendo memory is playing Super Mario with my five young grandsons
Getting to the ending credit sequence of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
The only Nintendo memory I have is playing with my nephew’s Game Boy…and I thought the graphics were really lame.
J’ai adoré regarder mes enfants jouer à Super Mario
playing donkey kong. now that is a long time ago. would be great to have one and play with my grand children. they could teach me the new technology
My favourite Nintendo memory is when my family got a Nintendo Wii and we played sports resort. We laughed at each other all night!
Waking up one Christmas morning…eons ago. Opened all presents then a note appeared to look in the basement. Behold an NES with TV setup. Those days playing Mario Brothers, Duck Hunt and Trojan set off a lifetime of gaming entertainment. Best Christmas ever.
Favourite memory was playing Zelda for the first time on the NES in the 80’s. This stands out for me bringing back memories of high school sharing tips and tricks with other gamers geeks in the early days.
loved watching my kids play Super Mario
Playing Nintendo at the neighbor’s. I was really bad at it, so MarioKart was the only game I really could play without embarassing myself.
Getting to the ending credit sequence of The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past. I still get a little emotional hearing that music.
My favorite Memory is playing the original super Mario Brothers for the first time. It opened a whole new world of gaming for me.
definitely first time playing this game. no more rentals hopefully.
Our kids loved Mario, and our grandson will undoubtedly
My favourite memories of Nintendo is playing with my kids and watching their eyes light up when they got new games. We loved playing Mario, especially, Super Mario. Christmas meant buying new Nintendo games, blowing off the games so they would work over and over again.
September 13, 1985 we purchased a nintendo game system and A game that cost $25. That was my favorite memory of Nintendo

I remember playing Zelda and it being the first and only game I was ever able to successfully complete all the levels.
My favourite memory was getting the original NES system with Super Mario Bros. 3 My previous game system had been an Atari 2600, so the improvement in graphics was unbelievable to me.
My favorite Nintendo memory is my twin boys playing non-stop tennis on our local tennis courts after learning how to play with Nintendo Mario Tennis. Educational 🙂

I remembered first getting River City Ransom… I used to rent it over and over and over again. Finally I ended up buying it, after spending probably 4x the cost of the game in rentals!
playing Mario with my kids
I always love playing super mario with my university friends. We’d play every friday night, eat candy, and just catch up on life. It was the best!

My favourite Nintendo memory was playing Donkey Kong 64 with my little brother on the N64, which was our first video game console ever. It was a fun hobby to come home to after school!
My favourite Nintendo memory is not about a specific game. I was 7 years old and when I woke up Christmas morning, there was a big gift wrapped box sitting IN the fireplace. It still had a dusting of snow on it. I was CONVINCED Santa had JUST left it there and I was so excited. I opened it up and was screaming with joy to find the original Nintendo Entertainment System. It is one of my fav Christmas memories.
Tetris still a fav! But loved Mario and the track n field. It was so fun run against friends.
Playing duck hunt with friends as a little kid.
