Xbox Scorpio E3

Introducing Xbox One X

Today at Microsoft’s E3 Briefing they officially announced their new gaming console, Xbox One X. Previously known as Project Scorpio, this home gaming console is the most powerful one ever built with 6 teraflops of graphical power. To emphasize just how beautiful games will look on Xbox One X, Microsoft showed stunning games like Assassin’s Creed Origins, Anthem, and Middle-Earth: Shadow of War. The console will be releasing on November 7th.

Xbox One X’s features

The most touted feature of the new console is its ability to produce native 4K visuals, including 8 million pixels, HDR, and wide colour gamut. Combined, these will produce incredible graphics better than we’ve ever seen before on home consoles.

Here are the console’s specs:

  • 6 teraflop GPU at 1.172Ghz
  • 326GB/s of memory bandwidth
  • 12GB GDDR5 memory
  • Full 4K resolution (2160p, HDR, wide colour gamut)
  • Premium Dolby Atmos sound
  • 4K UHD Blu-ray optical drive
  • Liquid-cooled vapour cooling

All this, and it’s the smallest Xbox console ever built! If you’re an existing Xbox One owner, all of your games and accessories are compatible with Xbox One X. The new console doesn’t represent a new generation, but rather a mid-cycle upgrade to the current generation. So if you bought Xbox One at launch or after, moving to Xbox One X will be entirely seamless!

The trailers presented at Microsoft’s press conference were mind-blowing. The first games that will receive full 4K visuals are Forza Motorsport 7, Crackdown 3, Sea of Thieves, State of Decay 2, and Super Lucky’s Tale. Other current Xbox One titles will also be enhanced when playing on the new console, even if you not yet have a 4K TV.

Forza 7

Forza Motorsport 7 announced

A highlight of Microsoft’s press conference every year is the unveiling of their new Forza game, and this year was no exception. This year Turn 10’s manager Dan Greenawalk took to the stage to officially announce Forza Motorsport 7 is coming October 3rd. He also spoke of a new partnership with Porche, and presented the all-new Porshe 911 GT2 RS 2018 on stage. It look pristine, and powerful! Greenawalt mentioned the car was playable inside Microsoft’s E3 booth, so I definitely can’t wait to check it out. Overall, Forza Motorsport 7 looked beautiful, with greatly improved graphics and weather effects over the the previous game. I can’t wait to experience more of this game at E3!
