The Turtle Beach Stealth 600 (Gen 2) and Stealth 700 (Gen 2) headsets have been custom built with both casual and hardcore gamers in mind. The headsets deliver excellent results when it comes to audio performance, comfort, and design. If you are looking for audio hardware that will give you the auditory edge over your opponents with all the bells and whistles, look no further than the Turtle Beach 600 and 700 Gen 2 headsets. Let’s delve into the premium features the hardware has to offer and how they perform.

Stealth 600 and 700 Gen 2 console compatibility

If you are gaming on the PlayStation 4 or Xbox One and are about to make the jump to next-gen consoles, the new Stealth Gen 2 headsets are forward compatible. The only choice you’ll need to make is which platform to buy the 600/700 on. For example, the Xbox version of Stealth 600 is compatible with Xbox One, Xbox Series S | X and Windows 10 PCs. Due to audio design differences, it will not work with PlayStation hardware or vice versa. If you opt for the PlayStation model of the Stealth 600 or 700 they are compatible with the PS4 and PS5. Once you’ve picked a platform, the feature sets and performance diverge, let’s delve into the hardware differences.

Right from unpacking the Stealth 600 and 700 I could feel the high-quality materials from the start. These are no regular gaming headphones; they are incredibly solid yet very light weight. The build quality is very sturdy featuring a mix of lightweight metal and plastic that can stand up to hours of use. Between the two headsets I have to give the edge in comfort to the Stealth 700s. They feature softer yet higher density ear cushions and headband padding. The headband itself on the 700s also seems more solid in its construction.

The lightweight metal sliders allow you to customize the tension around your head and ears, giving you the best fit possible. The earcups on the 700 have Aerofit Earcushions that are designed to seal in the sound and keep your head cool as you play. The cooling gel-infused also have plush memory foam and offer excellent breathability. This helps to keep your ears cool and comfortable for marathon gaming sessions. The 600s on the other hand have earcups that are more fabric based, and can become slightly warmer as you play.

Stealth 700 Ear cushionsIn the hours of play I have put in with the Stealth 600 and 700s I’ve found them to be extremely comfortable. I didn’t need to fiddle around with adjusting them, or did I feel the need to take them off because my head felt too hot.

Stealth 600 and 700 Gen 2 features

The sound quality on the 600 and 700 will put a big smile on your face, it’s punchy and deep. The 50mm Nanoclear speakers in the 700 keep you right in the middle of the action. The signature tuning of the headsets gives you great default balanced EQ between the in-game action and your teammates’ voices. Hearing explosions, engine revs and fighter jet flyovers in-game with the Stealth series made me feel like I was experiencing the game for the first time. The performance added such a powerful level of immersion; I wanted to go back and play older games to hear the difference.

Another great feature for those out there who wear glasses is the “Glasses Relief System.” This allows you to wear the headsets with glasses and feel no added pressure on your ears or temples. I was able to test this out and can say if you game with glasses you’ll love this headset, as it’s the most comfortable I’ve used.

Stealth 600 MicThe Gen 2’s now features a larger flip-to-mute microphone over the previous iteration of the headset. The newer mic provides high-sensitivity, distortion-free in-game communications. The design is excellent as it folds up into the headset’s earcup when muted. The microphone audio is quite good, and communication clarity was great, but it would be nice to get more background noise cancellation. I found some ambient noise was getting picked up in the stream and by my teammates.

Turtle Beach 600 and 700 gaming audio performance

I was able to test both headsets over a wide range of gaming genres from Shooters to Fighters and Racing. I came away extremely impressed feeling the headset added a whole new level to experiencing these virtual worlds.

Playing an FPS game that I am a regular on like Halo: Master Chief Collection gave me an unexpected edge over my opponents with the audio clarity. The headsets really kick up the bass and treble allowing you to pick up on subtle nuances happening on the battlefield. The sound on the headset is so good that I found myself needing the in-game radar less and less as I could hear enemy footsteps. I could track player movement just from their footsteps and weapon reloads.

The same goes for games like Forza Horizon 4, I felt like I was more in tune with the on-screen experience because of the terrific levels of layered sound. The roar of car engines was more jarring than ever. I could hear tire squeals and the hiss of the turbo with incredible clarity helping me to better time gear shifts.

Stealth 700 AppStealth 700 app-based audio customization

One big advantage the 700s have over the 600s is the app-based audio customization. The Turtle Beach Audio Hub app allows you to select audio presets to better match your in-game situation. You can toggle various settings like Superhuman Hearing, Bass Boost, Vocal Boost, Bass + Treble Boost and more. You can also save custom presets for future sessions all from the convenience of your smartphone.

Stealth 600 and 700Final thoughts on the Stealth 600 and 700 Gen 2 headsets

Both the Stealth 600 and 700 are excellent headsets. They come straight out of the box packing a punch with balanced audio and a plethora of features. The sound range response with the nanoclear speakers in the 700s is excellent. The 600s are no slouch either with 50mm neodymium audio drivers. The easy to access audio controls on the earcups on both headsets is very convenient. The 700s along with app-based audio customization lets you make quick adjustments on the fly. They also boast great battery performance with the 600s lasting for 15 hours and the 700s clocking in at 20 hours. I would definitely recommend these headsets to any casual or hardcore gamers; the layers of sound add new layers to your gaming experience.
