A great home theatre receiver will make all of your home theatre viewing better. A receiver is a critical component needed for a premium audio experience in the home. Many of us will be watching the big game mid-February (you know what I mean!). Many of us will also be watching the best movies of the previous year in anticipation of the big awards ceremony in March (again, you know what I mean). Wouldn’t it be amazing to have this fantastic Denon receiver delivering the best sound no matter what you are watching. Learn how you can enter for a chance to win.
Why does the sound matter when watching sports
My wife doesn’t follow football, or hockey, or tennis. I blame her parents. I grew up watching all three and still enjoy them all. The bigger the match or closer the game to a championship match, the better. And the game is usually more exciting if every bone crunching hit is audible—loud even.
When the crowd roars, I want to feel the vibration! When the ball hits the crossbar, I want to hear a distinct “ting” resonate as the kicker’s facial expression melts. When my favourite running back breaks a tackle and sprints toward the end-zone, I want to experience each step as if I’m running alongside encouraging him. The game is not the same without great sound.
The television networks put millions of dollars into capturing the audio experience as much as the visual experience. You must put some care and consideration into how you will hear it or you are missing out.
Have you given up on watching movies for their amazing sound
But we are getting used to missing out, aren’t we? I watch many shows on a phone wearing earbuds. It’s not right and I know it. A film like “Knives Out” was not designed to be watched like a mindless TikTok video. Just like you can’t get as immersed in a story on a small screen, you also can’t with earbud audio. You don’t feel the emotional tension of the characters, or the suspense, or especially the magic of the big moment without big audio. No one would visit a movie theatre, despite the big screen experience, if the sound wasn’t also all it can be.
The Denon receiver we are giving away in this contest helps you return to the good ole days of experiencing big sports games, and brilliantly intense movies, with awesome sound. Add some great speakers and suddenly your home is where everyone wants to be for that big sports party or movie night. We sent the prize that we are giving away in this contest to Jason for an honest review. Read his thorough review to learn more about the versatility and capabilities of this device.

It’s Maverick
Top Gun: Maverick
I think the movie Elvis would be really amazing if you had this sound system because its a great movie to begin with but with awesome sound it would be that much more spectacular.
The new Top Gun movie would be great to watch with this system.
I’d say any of the last 3 Avengers movies would be the best night on this receiver. My old Pioneer is from the pre-HDMI days, I can’t tell if it even works in surround anymore.
I’d definitely recommend this for watching a MTB event, like the Cspe Epic or the UCI World Chsmpionships (even if it means staying up through the night!). Seeing the race(es) on a big screen, coupled with this sound system would really bring it to life!
A killer night watching the Avengers series in full surround sound!
This would be perfect for watching all of the old James Bond movies!
If I won I would watch the Super Bowl, unfortunately the game will be over before the prize arrived, but there is always next year.
Star Wars for the pew, pew, pew sound effects.
Top Gun: Maverick would be much better with a big home audio system. I experienced this film in a movie theatre, so I know how much more thrilling it is with a superior sound system.
I’m going to go old school and recommend Das Boot. Sound effects would be amazing.
Top Gun, the surround sound would be spectacular!
If I had this receiver, the first movie I would watch would be the sound of music.
Gotta watch the Super Bowl with amazing sounds. Feel the roar of the crowd
The new Top Gun movie. The sound would be great
I believe hockey games, especially, any games with our home town Maple Leafs would be much, much better if my friend had a big home audio system. It would make the world of difference to hear and see all the action, especially the play by plays, including the action on goal, which is what the game is all about.
Avatar
Top Gun, the surround sound would be spectacular!
Omg true lies on BluRay.
You remember the effects in that movie?
Let’s gooOo
I would recommend the movie Interstellar, as the entire movie has amazing sound design that deserves a good home audio system.
Ironman, especially the “Jericho Missile Test” scene.
The movie #saving Private Ryan” would be my recommendation to a friend
It would be much better with a big home audio system because they would feel more like they were on the Normandy landing beaches
superior sound quality – A hard day’s night
Grosse Pointe Blank.

I’d recommend Wrestlemania as a sporting event and Avatar as a movie to a friend to experience the big sound
Any concert on Qello would be amazing so you can hear it and see everything
A Knight’s Tale as it is one of my favourite movies so you can see and hear everything
Avatar so you can see everything clearly
I would say Wrestling so you can see all the action clearly
Definitely would watch Avengers Infinity War and then Avengers Endgame back to back. 🙂
And sporting event would be amazing but especially hockey games.
I would recommend Top Gun, the music would be amazing on this receiver
I recommend any of the Scream movies! The sound would be amazing and even more enhanced!
Any of the Star Wars movies would be a blast to see with this receiver…
It would be fun to watch Bullitt with Steve McQueen! Awesome to see and hear the car chase through the hills of San Francisco.
Easy. Sporting event…the Superbowl and any weekly showings or your favorite NFL team. Go Bills.
For movies, easily any action or sci-fi adventure like Star Wars. Movies where they take the time to make the sound incredible and take advantage of the 7.2 speaker setup. Oh a second subwoofer would take it to another level. Sounds going all around you like you’re immersed in the movie. Love it.
The World Cup to clearly see the action
My favourite movies to recommend in surround sound are:
Heat
Blade Runner 2049
Rogue One
House of Flying Daggers (bead scene)
