LG’s TV and audio lineup is one of the most exciting ones at CES 2025. LG is a personal favourite in my own home. I own two LG TVs: one OLED and one LED. From the intuitive webOS interface to the fabulous picture quality, LG TVs live up to the hype. This year, the brand has introduced plenty of innovations in both TV and audio, including a new collaboration with will.i.am. Plus, new AI enhancements across the board help simplify your life and personalize your entertainment experiences.
We were on hand to find out how and why these are worth considering as upgrades this year.
LG focuses on AI-powered experiences
LG continues its focus on AI-powered experiences that are designed to make your life easier and everyday tasks more personalized. With a focus on “Affectionate Intelligence,” LG aims to make interacting with AI “less artificial, more human.” This is through a variety of connected devices, AI agents, and integrated services.
New in this space is LG’s FURON. This AI agent can develop insights based on your lifestyle patterns to help you throughout the day. It can understand situations and context in real-time to deliver intelligent assistance all day. For example, FURON might notice a child coughing at night and adjust the temperature to help. It can also look at your calendar and make suggestions to fill in gaps, or even to help you de-stress. The TV might recommend something to watch when you get home, even adjust the dialogue so you can hear it better. This is aided through a strategic partnership with Microsoft, using that software company’s AI technology within the experience.
LG expands ThinQ compatibility in the smart home
You might be familiar with the LG ThinQ platform if you have an LG AV or appliance in your home. The smart interface makes it simple to control your products remotely from a single app, receive updates, even contact LG for troubleshooting. Now, LG is opening up ThinQ to third-party developers. This means that other brands and software will be able to connect seamlessly with LG products via ThinQ. The future benefits of this could be better interoperability between products you have at home from different brands.
What to look forward to in LG TVs
From the Signature OLED T to the OLED evo line-up with Copilot, LG has an extensive line of TVs coming to market in 2025.
LG Signature OLED T remains a showstopper
Last year, LG debuted the world’s first transparent, wireless 4K OLED TV in the Signature OLED T. It was one of the most talked about displays, and products overall, at the show. This year, LG is showing the 77-inch TV once again now that it’s officially available for purchase in the U.S., with plans to come to other global markets later this year (there’s no official word yet on Canadian availability). The stunning TV can transform from transparent to opaque and can fit beautifully in a large living space, providing a unique look and effect. It’s wireless thanks to LG’s proprietary Zero Connect Box for a totally seamless set-up.
As much as décor piece as it is a TV, it looks like a TV right out of the future. With the T-Objet Always-On-Display (AOD) mode, you can use it to display artwork, photos, and videos as well. The T-Bar, meanwhile, can show an information ticker on the bottom edge with details like sports results, the status of your connected smart home devices, weather forecasts, song title information, and more.
LG stuns with its new OLED evo lineup with Copilot
If you’re looking for a new centrepiece for the living room, LG’s new OLED evo has some stunning models, including the true wireless OLED evo M5 and evo G5 models. Each TV comes with LG’s latest Alpha II AI processor Gen 2 that offers deeper blacks, improved brightness, and advanced processing. They are also powered by new AI-driven personalization features.
The new OLED TVs also include Brightness Booster Ultimate technology that affords a more vibrant experience. There’s also support for Filmmaker Mode with Ambient Light Compensation, which detects the lighting in your room and adjusts the picture settings automatically. This way, you can watch movies the way the filmmaker intended, no matter the lighting conditions.
The TVs have specific features for gamers, too. They include the 4K 165Hz Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), certified by NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium. You’ll enjoy tear- and lag-free game play with even the most intense, fast-moving games.
For audio, you get virtual 11.1.2-channel surround sound for a rich, immersive experience. The AI Picture/Sound Wizard ensures both video and audio are tailored to your personalized settings and what you’re watching. The TVs even come with an AI Remote that will recognize and greet you by name. Adjust settings to your preferences, so everyone in the family gets the best viewing and listening experience possible. Use AI Search by voice with the remote using natural language, and access to Microsoft Copilot features. With the Generative Image Gallery, you can create custom backgrounds to get a personalized look.
LG’s QNED Evo line is affordable luxury with even more AI
The hallmark of LG’s new QNED Evo line of TVs is the integration of true wireless, AI, and even more personalization—thanks to its enhanced webOS interface. True wireless transmits 4K 144Hz images without any loss in picture quality nor delay. It’s ideal for those watching fast-action movies or playing video games. You’ll also find an improved colour gamut using LG’s new proprietary wide colour gamut technology along with Dynamic QNED Color Solution, which replaces quantum dots. This way you can get the purest, most realistic colour reproduction possible.
Plus, it features AI-enhanced picture and sound processing. The a8 AI processor improves performance and affords new AI capabilities like more advanced upscaling and more naturally adjusting picture noise and presenting faces, objects, text, and backgrounds. It also converts two-channel sound to virtual 9.1.2-channel sound so you get a richer, more immersive audio experience. The technology distinguishes voices from background sound so they are clearer.
Each TV comes with the new AI Magic Remote that now has a dedicated AI button to help with viewing preferences, recommendations, and apps. Short-press the button to get to relevant keywords and TV features. On the other hand, long-press to engage in personalized searches based on a large language model (LLM). Ask for movies or TV shows set in Italy, for example, that you can watch before your upcoming trip there.
Highlights of the line include the QNED evo (QNED9M), which features LG’s True Wireless 4K technology, which was previously only found in the top-line OLED evo model. Being able to enjoy 4K picture quality via wireless connection can be a game-changer for some. It enables you to place your TV virtually anywhere without worrying about a power source nearby or running wires.
The best thing about LG’s new QNED line is that they are part of the Re:New Program LG announced last year (as are the new OLED TVs). This ensures that any new LG TV you purchase will be supported for five years of webOS upgrades. Like with smartphones, this gives you more bang for your buck knowing that when new updates come, you won’t have to upgrade your TV to enjoy them.
New LG 3 projector innovations include a 3-in-1 unit
You might want a projector for the basement, for example, so the kids can get a big-screen experience for video gaming or sleepovers. A projector is great for outdoors, for neighbourhood movie nights under the stars. Or maybe you want the biggest picture possible, or an adaptable picture size, in the living room. LG has presented new projectors ideal for various scenarios.
LG’s new PF60U 3-in-1 projector
The LG PF60U 3-in-1 projector includes a built-in Bluetooth speaker and functions as an LED mood lamp. Earning a CES Innovation Award, it’s designed to look like a floor lamp, adding to the room’s ambiance. Inside, you get an FHD (1,920 x 1,080) resolution, 300 ANSI lumens projector with the ability to stream content from the built-in LG webOS platform. It has its own stereo speakers while the lamp can display nine colours at five brightness levels. The 110° tilt head makes it easy to adjust the screen based on where you want to project the image. There’s also an auto screen adjustment function.
CineBeam S ultra short-throw projector
I had the pleasure of using the LG CineBeam Q last year. I was blown away not only by how well the picture looks both indoors and out, but also how simple it is to set-up and use. Now, there’s the CineBeam S (PU615U), LG’s smallest 4K ultra short throw projector. Set it up and watch movies, TV shows, or video games at 4K UHD (3,840 x 2,160) resolution and 500 ANSI lumens of brightness. Project an image from 40 inches up to 100 inches. It’s great for everything from productivity to movie nights in the backyard.
While you can connect separate speakers, the projector has built-in stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos. It’s powered by LG webOS so you can access streaming content right out of the box, with a Wi-Fi connection. The auto screen adjustment, wall colour adjustment, and screen scaling/shifting ensure the screen aligns perfectly and can adapt to your room, space, or wall surface.
LG collaborates with will.i.am for new xboom Bluetooth speaker line
LG hasn’t forgotten about audio. The company’s xboom line of portable Bluetooth speakers are tremendously popular. Now, there’s a collaboration with musician and producer will.i.am for a new line that gives you “a more balanced audio profile with warmer tones.” There are three new models in the line: the xboom Bounce, Grab, and Stage 301. What sets these apart from others is that they all come with AI capabilities via AI Sound that automatically adjusts based on the content that’s playing. There’s also built-in AI Lighting so the multicolour lights pulse in sync with the music. Through AI Calibration, the speaker will recognize the surroundings and ensure the sound fills the space.
A new addition to xboom speakers is a dedicated button you can press to instantly access will.i.am’s RAiDiO.FYI platform with infotainment content delivered by an AI Radio Host. LE Audio Auracast allows you to connect multiple xbooms for even more enveloping sound.
Xboom Bounce
This model has up-bouncing passive radiators, dual dome tweeters, and a track-type woofer. It’s designed for high-frequency stereo sound and comes with a built-in strap for holding it in your hand or hanging it on a hook. It is water and dust resistant, meeting the IP67 specification and ultra-durable. The battery lasts for up to 30 hours.
xboom Grab
Designed to take with you easily, the xboom Grab has dual passive radiators on either side for dynamic bass. Position it upright, lying on its side, or in the cup holder of a car or camping chair. The included straps secure it to your arm, hook, or handle, like on a bicycle. Plus, it meets military standard 810G, as well as an IP67 rating. The xboom Grab can run for up to 20 hours per charge.
xboom Stage 301
Optimized for indoor or outdoor gatherings, the xboom Stage 301 has a 6.5-inch woofer and dual 2.5-inch midrange drivers to provide room-filling sound. It has a built-in handle and a wedge design so you can easily place flat, tilted back, or atop a tripod. It boasts an IPX4 water-resistant rating and has a replaceable battery that lasts for up to 11 hours per charge.
xboom Buds
LG has also introduced the new xboom Buds, true wireless earbuds with lightweight graphene drivers. They support LG’s Active Noise Cancelling technology, LE Audio Auracast, and come with ergonomic ear tips in various sizes. The ear hook design, meanwhile, ensures a secure and snug fit. You’ll get up to 30 hours of listening per charge using the included charging case. The buds are protected against splashes with an IPX4 rating.
LG unveils UltraGear GX9 bendable 5K2K gaming monitor
LG’s UltraGear line of monitors are popular among gamers, but one of the latest ones will turn heads. Dubbed the world’s first bendable 5K2K gaming monitor, the UltraGear GX9 is an OLED gaming monitor that incorporates LG webOS for smart gaming access.
The model 45GX990A earned three CES 2025 Innovation Awards. It has a gorgeous 45-inch curved 21:9 screen with panels that employ LG’s advanced WOLED technology. You’ll get the high brightness, true blacks, and vivid colours that gamers expect.
It features technology to protect your eyes, including certification for low blue light emissions. It helps reduce eye strains during long gaming sessions. LG’s Anti-Glare and Low Reflection (AGLR) coating minimize screen reflections and glare so you can easily see what’s going on in the game, even in a brightly lit room.
LG has your home theatre needs covered
Whether you’re looking to upgrade the TV in your living room, considering switching to a projector (or adding one in another room), upgrading the home office or games room, or looking for great sound on the go, LG has you covered. I am a big fan of the webOS platform, as I find it to be incredibly intuitive. The new AI upgrades will make the experience even more personalized and tailored to each individual viewer. With the Re:New program in place with the latest TV models, you’ll be able to future-proof the purchase.
LG’s booth is consistently one of the busiest at CES every year, if not the busiest. That’s for good reason. There are always cool innovations to see across the board in tech. When it comes to audio and video, LG doesn’t disappoint this year.
