Defender has a long tradition of making high quality home security cameras that are affordable for home owners. I recently tested two Defender systems on the Best Buy Blog and was impressed with the ease of setup and the high-quality video captured by these devices. Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy, the Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera, and we have two to give away in this contest.

Defender security cameras deliver great value for homeowners

As Editor-in-Chief on the blog, I get many of the main brands of security cameras on my desk and have tested most of them myself. I have to say that Best Buy does have a great selection of home security cameras, and the Defender brand is right up there with the best for how easy they are to set up and use, and how great the image quality is.

Defender 4K wired cameraI have reviewed two different types of Defender systems on the blog. One of these was a wired system with four 4k cameras that all connected to a DVR. I pointed out scenarios where this type of system might be a homeowner’s best bet for great security. I also showed the steps for setting it up and getting the most from that system.

Defender Wireless 2K cameraThe second Defender system that I reviewed was a 2k wireless outdoor camera. That camera is easier to install than a wired system, as it sends the video stream over the internet. It shares a very key feature with the other system that I reviewed though: it does not require any additional fees for cloud storage (something many other camera systems do require). That means once you pay for the camera, you do not have to pay for anything else to use the camera and get maximum security benefits (you do need home internet, but I’m assuming most people have that these days).

New Defender Guard Camera will be perfect for most homeowners

As I said at the beginning, Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy. The Defender Guard Wireless 2K Camera shares many of the features with the 2k camera that I recently reviewed. It too has on-camera storage via a 16GB microSD card (expandable to 128GB). It has the same great video quality that I described in my review too, with incredible 16x zoom and crystal clear night vision. The camera will even record the voices and sounds of people being recorded. Crystal clear video and audio will be great tools to help identify who was on your property, or what animal knocked over the garbage bins—animal issues are a big concern around my home!

Check out the information section on the product page to learn about some of its other great features, like a wide field of view, IP67 ratings providing resistance to all forms of weather, etc.

What are your security concerns that could be addressed with a Defender security camera? Enter this contest and you may soon be able to take care of them if you win one of these prizes. And if you don’t win, well, Defender cameras are reasonably priced, and once you buy one, you will not be paying any additional fees for video storage.

How to enter

Entering this contest is really easy, but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what security concerns around your home you would like to address if you win a Defender camera in this contest.

What you can win

At the end of this contest we will select two winners from all eligible entries. Each winner will receive a Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera.

This contest runs from September 27th until October 14th.

Remember, you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to install a new security camera around their home. Perhaps their neighbourhood has seen some break-ins recently. Perhaps a camera can bring them some peace of mind. Share this contest article with them so they too have a chance to win.

  1. I live in a rural neighborhood and there are no street lights so having this extra security is really useful

  2. There have been a lot of thefts in our city of things from people’s front and back yards and I would like to have cameras that monitor those areas.

  3. There have been some concerns around here where someone has been trying to get into the back entrance of houses. I would like to set up a security camera for this purpose.

  4. We have had several break ins in our neighborhood recently, keeping an eye on my property vehicles and my neighbors homes would be great.

  5. Being a new parent combined with all the recent news of break-ins in my area is quite concerning, this would definitely give me peace of mind and hopefully deter anyone from coming near my home.

  6. We lost several parcels this summer from the front of our home, so I would like something there to give me added protection.

  7. There’s been some mischief in my neighborhood that I would love to catch, especially in the front yard.

  8. I live in a subdivision on the corner of a busy street. It would put my mind at ease (especially when home alone) to know I have a layer of protection with the Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera at our home.

  9. I would use this to protect the backyard and shed. There have been reports of people getting into local sheds

  10. This would be really good to have. It would give me a sense of security as there have been a couple of break ins a few streets away from me. I would put it on the outside of the house to keep an eye on my backyard.

  11. House sits off the road and is on a dead end so it’s very vulnerable to theft. Most people wouldn’t know it was there, but would be peace of mind to know what happens when we are not there.

  12. In our neighbourhood we have a Facebook group for the neighbours to keep everyone updated on the happenings in the area. For over a year, there have been multiple reports of crime in the area, such as stealing from unlocked cars, garages and sheds, stealing packages off front porches, etc. Lately, the crimes have been getting worse, as neighbours have reported their car windows being smashed or shed doors being pried open to steal items within. While we have been lucky thus far, a security camera would provide us with some peace of mind and would hopefully deter anyone from committing crimes on our property.

  13. I would like to address the concerns I have having online shopping delivered to my front door in a downtown urban setting, while I am away. I know most people are good at heart but it would be nice to have peace of mind.

  14. The security concerns around my home I would like to address if I win a Defender camera would be determining who steals packages from the front door area.

  15. I have a hair salon out of my home so I would like to be able to see who approaches my door. This has been something I have wanted to do for a long time!

  16. As a small business owner storing supplies and equipment is concerning and I would be at ease with a security system, plus having 3 small children it would give me peace of mind

  17. I had a peeping tom once and that terrified me. And there have been a couple cars vandalized in our area. This would be really good to have.

  18. There has been people stealing gas from cars & items from unlocked sheds. So this would come in real handy. 🙂
