January is a great month to reassess the tech in your home. Technology makes life better. What tech are you looking for? My wife says we have too much tech in our home, but I don’t agree. I believe we have barely scratched the surface of the tech our home should have. Tech is personal. What new tech are you craving

Our blog is a great place to start looking for the latest technology. This month we learn about many of the new products that will be coming to stores over the next year via the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2018). On the Best Buy blog we have written articles about many of the new things that were announced that we think may arrive in stores this year. There will be new televisions, new smart home cameras, new computers, and much more.

If you are a gamer, you will find review articles on the blog about the latest video games, and descriptive articles about specific components you might need to build a gaming PC. Also you will find many articles about monitors, including the recent one we did about how to set up a 3 monitor gaming display.

3 monitor are better than one, as Steven Hill points out in his article. Even better when the monitors are as amazing as these from ASUS. They have a thin bezel, so your view is almost uninterrupted. They are also curved for a great wraparound experience. I love the scene in the video review (shown in his review article) where he is gaming on that huge display surface. As I said, it’s easy to enter. But you can only enter once. First look around your home and assess your 2018 tech needs. Next, in a comment at the bottom of this article, tell us what new tech your home needs in 2018. Perhaps it’s a new TV or maybe a Google Home for voice activation convenience. Be as specific as you want.

  8. I could really use the monitors, then I could pass the one I’m currently using to my stepdad who still has an ancient 1050 monitor, thing isn’t even widescreen! I’d really like to get a new computer tower at some point too, and a bigger TV. Like 65″ would be nice, gotta have it in time for Game of Thrones final season in 2019!

    My tech need/want for 2018 is a baby video monitor. I’m going to be a grandma in a few weeks and it’d be awesome to have a two-way communication baby monitor to give to my kids – and for me to have when I get to babysit.

  14. I think I would like a Google Home in 2018. I am not sure of all the apps it has for appliances and other settings but going to investigate.

  21. A new desktop or powerful enough laptop, since mine is at least 7 years old and starting to show it. And when it went for a hinge fix, the repair place broke the touchpad (no power going to it) and now I have to pay for that to be fixed too, because I only noticed after flying away for a few months and the warranty was for a month post-repair >:(

  35. A New Gaming Monitor! I am not sure which one though. I am sure there are lots of good ones out there, was hoping for a 27″ at least though.

  38. I’ve been eyeing the LG C7 65″ 4K UHD HDR OLED TV to replace my current low resolution panel. I’d love to get into some 4K gaming this year. The Bosch SHE3AR75UC Dishwasher and higher end Samsung washer&dryer are also on my list. A grand total of 10 smart thermostats, probably Nest branded is a priority. There’s a lot more stuff I’d like from BestBuy, but these are the imminent purchases I have feeling my wife will be alright with.

  40. Looking at my current decade+ old monitor, with its missing pixels and grease stains for the children’s fingers…I’d definitely say I need a new monitor, lol. But I have also been looking into getting a Google Home to make music playing for the kids easier and to help organize (shopping lists, etc) around the house.

  42. I’m trying to save on energy costs, so I think a Smart Thermostat like Nest would be a great upgrade for my house.

  44. I have finally started on my “man cave” and it would be great to have a curve t.v to watch ball games, which my wife does not enjoy watching.

  45. I would like to build an i3 budget gaming PC for them to introduce them to gaming. also so they stop using mine to watch YouTube videos all the time

  47. we could use this and get rid of our old projection TV that my husband plays the PS4 on……..we also need a printer…badly!
