January is a great month to reassess the tech in your home. Technology makes life better. What tech are you looking for? My wife says we have too much tech in our home, but I don’t agree. I believe we have barely scratched the surface of the tech our home should have. Tech is personal. What new tech are you craving

Our blog is a great place to start looking for the latest technology. This month we learn about many of the new products that will be coming to stores over the next year via the Consumer Electronics Show (CES 2018). On the Best Buy blog we have written articles about many of the new things that were announced that we think may arrive in stores this year. There will be new televisions, new smart home cameras, new computers, and much more.

If you are a gamer, you will find review articles on the blog about the latest video games, and descriptive articles about specific components you might need to build a gaming PC. Also you will find many articles about monitors, including the recent one we did about how to set up a 3 monitor gaming display.

3 monitor are better than one, as Steven Hill points out in his article. Even better when the monitors are as amazing as these from ASUS. They have a thin bezel, so your view is almost uninterrupted. They are also curved for a great wraparound experience. I love the scene in the video review (shown in his review article) where he is gaming on that huge display surface. As I said, it’s easy to enter. But you can only enter once. First look around your home and assess your 2018 tech needs. Next, in a comment at the bottom of this article, tell us what new tech your home needs in 2018. Perhaps it’s a new TV or maybe a Google Home for voice activation convenience. Be as specific as you want.

  15. I like to stay minimal but I do need a new computer pretty badly for my children’s schooling (online homeschooling), using a cheap tablet this year and it’s been trying for sure!!!!!!

  18. Definitely need a new T.V .. I bought mine refurbished and in a week it stopped working brought it in to get fixed with the warranty and now there’s a big streak through the middle of the screen .. So yes a new TV would be GREAT!!

  23. Our home could use lots of “new tech” but if I were to choose one, it would be a laptop for my husband as his is quite old and he has been having problems with it. He is not happy when he has to go back to day 1 and reload it.

  29. I desperately need a new computer monitor. My monitor has weird lines periodically flashing across the screen so a new one would be fantastic.

  34. This is a toss up for me as there are two upgrades I need:
    1. Using a 42″ Samsung Plasma 720p for years and years. Awesome for movies.
    2. Using a 15″ Lenovo laptop for 8+ years.
    I only use the TV for watching hockey for the most part and maybe watch 15 hrs a week at most on it. Laptop is a daily use of at least 4hrs a day so I’m going with laptop. Too broke to upgrade right now but the constant freezing of pointer is getting to me even though I did a fresh install a week ago on a SSD.

  35. We desperately need a new a desktop computer and a nice new, big 4K TV. However if I was to be a bit more selfish then I’d definitely love to have a Google Home, PS4, a new phone (current one is so glitchy), a state of the art gaming laptop and lastly I would looooooove to have an Asus AC88U Router. Unfortunately I’m too poor to fullfill all my ambitions T_T

  39. My tech goals for 2018 is a new WiFi thermostat, a doorbell camera for safety and a new PC for the kids school work and gaming.

  45. Our home really needs a HD television. We’ve been holding off replacing our current flat screen since it still works, but the picture quality seems to be getting worse as the signal keeps getting better.
