Samsung launched a new, more affordable tablet in the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, offering it in two versions with Wi-Fi and LTE connectivity. The device will come in three colours (oxford grey, chiffon pink and mint) and is compatible with the company’s S Pen stylus, which is included in the box for a fuller product experience.
The Tab S6 Lite is not to be confused with the previous Tab S6 Lite that launched in 2022, though the two share a lot in common. This new 2024 model represents a slight refresh that mainly focuses on performance over design changes.
About the new Galaxy Tab S6 Lite
Samsung chose not to overhaul the design, so this new iteration of the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite sports the same dimensions. That means the same 10.4-inch TFT display with 2000 x 1200 resolution and the bundled S Pen to write on it. There is no pocket or holster for the pen, so you would have to keep it handy or get a case that includes a way to store it. For simple storage, you can use its magnet to stick it on the back panel. Much like other Samsung tablets, the S Pen supports the same note-taking and other apps or functions available, making it as much a productivity accessory as a tool to navigate or play games. It also doesn’t need to charge, giving you one less thing to worry about while using it.
The screen also has a cutout 5-megapixel front camera for video calls or selfies, while you get an 8-megapixel camera in the rear. Samsung sees this tablet as an effective way to multitask because of the sizeable screen and pen input.
Powered by Samsung’s latest processor
Underneath, the Tab S6 Lite runs on a different processor. The previous model used a Snapdragon 720G chipset whereas the newer model runs on a Samsung Exynos 1280 chip. You otherwise get the same 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage, so there are no changes as far as memory and storage are concerned. With the new processor, however, you also get Android 14 running from the start, putting this tablet right in line with what other Samsung tablets are currently running.
Entertainment ready with Dolby Atmos surround sound
Onboard AKG-tuned stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos add some resonance to whatever you like to watch, and you can always use the headphone jack or Bluetooth headphones to listen instead. Being a Samsung tablet, it can connect to other Samsung devices more seamlessly, like Galaxy earbuds or phones, for example.
Samsung rates battery life at up to 14 hours of non-stop video playback, so it’s hard to quantify what it would be with more mixed usage. Either way, it’s likely you get through a full day while using it.
