Dave found that as a gamer, this was the ultimate epicenter of his gaming setup. Brad, however, suggested that you might not get the most from this unless you regularly managed large files, and had a computer capable of capitalizing on the high data transfer rates from the Firecuda.

  4. Right now I could use 2TB of storage, but are starting to scan lots of old family pictures so going to 4TB would be awesome.

  15. I have 30 Years of home movies to Digitize and that doesn’t include the old super 8’s from my parents.
    Then there is the scans from my Record/Comic book collection….. would have to be 4 or 5T.

  24. We travel (or use to before the virus) and take 1000’s of pictures on each trip so I would say we need the 4TB for all the photos.

  29. I’d say for a 4TB would be ideal. That would be assuring enough to put my life event photos and photography..

    Currently, probably I have 2.5tb worth of data around those photos and also work files…

    but having another 500gb also good enough, I cautiously store my external HDD and scatter my data, in case anything happens to the HDD (like a flood, fire, etc)

  31. I like Seagate drives and could probably do with upgrading my tech as part of my “quarantine” activities.

  32. Having an extra storage drive is important. We all should have backups, but in addition, I think it is a good idea to carry a backup of all your data with you when you leave your home. I have books I am writing, photography, live audio recordings I have made, and disk images of all my computer drives. It is a terrible feeling when you lose data. It’s like having your house broken in to and being robbed.

    I have other great Seagate drives and used many more over the past 30 or more years.

    An external SSD would be very handy. A 4TB drive would allow me to replace an old drive that has failed before. Fortunately I had another old drive at the time with my data on is. Alway backup your. backup.

    In this digital age of the online world, who you are is your data. Protecting it is a worthy investment.

  38. For a family setup like ours, we sure could use a 10TB drive. Adding in a 10TB shared drive to our central home network would give everyone in the family enough space to centrally store files and free up space on their individual devices.

  45. 500 GB seems like a lot, but it is really easy to fill up with games or movies/television shows, the 4 TB would be way better and more difficult to fill as it is 8 times larger.
