The technology of laundry has changed dramatically in the last two years. Today’s washers and dryers save energy but also make laundry faster to do and easier on your clothes.   Samsung Canada is a new player in the laundry market but has transferred it’s electronic know-how into a series of successful appliances with innovative features.   Some of their bestsellers are coming to Best Buy soon. Here’s an overview.

What is all the fuss about Spritz? If you were using a Spritz-enabled app, you would already have read to the end of this post and could tell us. But given that Spritz-enabled tech isn’t out there yet (it’s coming soon, though), here’s the scoop. Spritz is new speed reading technology that’s based on the theory that much of our time spent reading is wasted as our eyes move side to side. Display a word in one place, flash one word at a time and suddenly reading becomes much more efficient. Not only that, but by displaying just one word at a time, reading is suddenly possible on compact displays, like a smartphone or smartwatch. Being able to quickly (and painlessly) read e-mail, reports or even books on your Gear2 or Gear Neo suddenly makes the idea of wearable technology even more appealing.

  Home recording technology seems to get better and cheaper with every passing moment. What you can achieve in your spare room or home studio today was only in the realm of high-priced professional installations a dozen years ago. The problem you’ve probably already encountered is that there is a LOT of information out there. I’m going to try and break things down into manageable chunks. I’ll walk you through some concepts you should be familiar with and touch on some gear that you may or may not want to consider.

Chances are you’ve heard of a Chromebook —the hot new category in affordable, mobile computing— but what the heck is a Chromebox? The cardboard box a Samsung Chromebook ships in? Does it have anything to do with Battlestar Galactica and Cylons? No to both. Chromebox is the natural extension of the Chromebook, taking Google’s Chrome operating system and using it to run a compact, portable and affordable alternative to a traditional desktop Windows PC. The Chromebox isn’t for everyone, but when it comes to a desktop PC that features near instant boot-up, built-in security, the ability to work on documents and spreadsheets using free (and offline-capable) apps plus a complete web experience, a Chromebox is an appealing option.

Science fiction author Arthur C. Clarke famously said that “any technology sufficiently advanced would be indistinguishable from magic.” One of the more exciting new developments to hit the consumer market in recent years is 3D printing. And while the concept of going from a digital “blueprint” of a model to a three dimensional object you can hold in your hand might appear to have more than a little magic involved, it all makes sense once you understand the technology involved.   Sonos has been a leader in wireless modular home speaker systems that can deliver music throughout your home.  They have been the leader in this market because it is their singular focus. They have excellent products like the Sonos Play 1 and the Sonos PlayBar, which we reviewed earlier. But there are other excellent wireless systems, like Bose Soundtouch, that have entered this market. Sonos has recognized they need to continue innovating if they want to maintain its lead position, so they overhauled their app that controls their home wireless systems, making some major improvements that you can’t get anywhere else. 

The first real big Sony Exclusive for the PS4, InFamous is back with its Second Son (and third major release!). Traipse about Seattle… wait, did I say ‘traipse’? I meant navigate, teleport, and otherwise move with awesome looking super powers across a fantastically rendered Emerald City as you fight against a heinous, superpower hating, military corps!  Its time to decide what sort of supe you’ll be, with Infamous: Second Son!

This used to be a no brainer:  You have a few hundred or a couple grand to spend on your next gaming PC, and you go get one, whether it’s off the shelf, or you buy pieces and build yourself.  With Steam Machines on the way, however, and the growth of that gaming medium, your choice might be a bit tougher now that you can basically stick that all in your living room while still having access to Operating Systems and the like.  Which would you go with?  Which am I going with?  I take a look at some of the consideration points after the jump.
