Out of all the appliances in my kitchen, I rely on my Instant Pot Pressure Cooker the most. I’ve used it for everything from spaghetti to hard-boiled eggs and it cooks everything up quickly, easily, and precisely. Since I’ve had one I’ve never, not even once, messed up a dish I was cooking in it.
After using my own Instant Pot pressure cooker for over a year, I know it’s an amazing family appliance, and it would also be a great dorm room appliance for students. If you’ve been looking at the Instant Pot and wondering when to take the leap, you’re in for a treat. Instant Pot has come out with a new version of my favourite pressure cooker: the Instant Pot 9-in-1 Duo Plus.
Here’s a quick overview of the new features and what the differences are between the model I have; the Instant Pot 7-in-1, and the 5.7L (6qt) Instant Pot 9-in-1 Duo Plus.
Instant Pot lets you have your cake and bake it too
The Instant Pot 9-in-1 Duo Plus is a pressure cooker and a slow cooker, and just like the original Instant Pot, it has some great pre-set programs you can use to whip up some great meals and treats in the kitchen.
The original Instant Pot 7-in-1 had 7 preset functions including poultry, stew, rice, porridge, slow cooker, and steam. Although I figured out how to make hard-boiled eggs in my Instant Pot, it does not have a pre-set egg function and I always wished it did.
The new Instant Pot 9-in-1 Duo Plus has an egg pre-set, so all you have to do is tap it and it will make a batch of perfectly hard boiled eggs. That’s not all: it also has pre-sets for rice and porridge, yogurt, steamer, warmer, and two other new pre-sets: a cake maker and a sterilizer.
If you sterilize bottles or you want to sterilize your glass jars before canning, the sterilizer will really come in handy, and imagine how great it would be to make a cake in your Instant Pot. Even when your kitchen is hot because of the weather or your oven is taken when cooking other dishes, you can still bake a cake!
The new Instant Pot 9-in-1 Duo Plus also has a large, blue LCD display panel, and there are four specific cooking icons: Heating, Pressure Cook, Keep Warm, and Sound. It was already an easy device to use, and having everything re-organized on the panel makes it even easier.
Every Instant Pot dish is automated
With an Instant Pot 9-in-1 Duo Plus pressure cooker on your counter, you have access to one of the most versatile appliances you’ll ever use. The pre-set cooking programs automate the entire cooking process, so all you have to do is put your ingredients in the bowl and push the button.
When you’re cooking with the Instant Pot the steam is kept inside the appliance, and you only release that steam when the timer buzzes to indicate your food is finished. That means no cooking smells, and that’s a great feature if you’re in a dorm room at school.
The Instant Pot 9-in-1 Duo Plus and other Instant Pots are also very easy to clean. The internal bowl is dishwasher safe and is made from food-grade stainless steel.
Why upgrade to the new Instant Pot 9-in-1 Duo Plus?
When I saw that there was a new Instant Pot on the market I knew I was going to upgrade. I love one-touch cooking, and the new Instant Pot 9-in-1 has re-organized the LCD with all of your favourite pre-set buttons plus a few more. Because it offers new cooking options including cakes, sterilizer, and eggs, it’s taken the one tap pressure cooker experience to an entirely new level.
If the popularity of the Instant Pot 7-in-1 is any indication, the Instant Pot Duo Plus is going to fly off the shelves for back to school and fall. You can find your own Instant Pot 9-in-1 Duo Plus at Best Buy right now.
LOVE my Instant Pot! It is absolutely one of the best kitchen purchases I have made.
See people posting about this on fb all the time lol….Ithink I might need one myself
Thank you for that clear and concise description; I’ve been wondering what they were and how they work…David Lebovitz raves about them, and apparently they are the “in” thing in Europe. Not sure I can give up on my trusty old slow cooker, but Christmas isn’t far away, nor is my birthday! You’ve convinced me I need one! The bottle-sterilizing function sold me! I do a lot of canning! Thanks!
I thought I’d never give up my slow cooker either, but there’s a slow cooker function on the Instant Pot so I never needed my slow cooker again. I eventually gave it away because it was taking up cupboard space.
You’ll love it!
