gifting a coffee makerBelieve it or not the holidays are quickly approaching, and I’m left wondering how this year has gone by so quickly. I’ve started my list of who I’m purchasing gifts for this year and taking notes of any great gift ideas I come across. Today I’m talking about gifting a coffee maker which is the perfect gift for the coffee connoisseur in your life.

Drip coffee makers

Drip coffee makerThe classic drip style coffee maker is perfect for anyone who likes to brew a pot for multiple cups or if you want to have control of the strength of your brew. I prefer this style of coffee maker for when I have guests over as brewing a whole pot is more cost effective and environmentally friendly than using single serve. It’s also more time efficient as you can usually brew up to 12 cups in a short time. If you prefer to have freshly ground beans with every pot look for a coffee maker that has a built-in grinder or you can buy a separate grinder.

If you’re brewing a pot for guests it’s nice to offer a variety of milk and cream as well as sugar, sweeteners and even syrups for your guests to customize their cups to their personal taste. Take a look at this post on coffee makers 101.

Single serve coffee makers

Single serve coffee makerThere are a variety of single serve coffee makers on the market today, a couple of the most popular being Nespresso and Keurig. I find mine the most convenient for workday mornings as I can throw in my pod of choice and brew a quick cup with my breakfast or into my travel mug as I hurry out the door. Most single serve coffee makers also offer pods that are environmentally friendly by being recyclable and/or compostable which I love.

A couple benefits of single serve coffee makers are that you can buy a variety of flavours and coffee strengths, you only have to brew a cup at a time and some also include milk steamers to make your favourite latte. They’re great for families and guests that have different coffee tastes and palates. In my house we typically have at least 4 varieties on hand.

Multi-use coffee makers

Multi use coffee makerMulti-use coffee makers are a great option for anyone looking to get more out of their coffee maker. These coffee makers offer multiple functions such as single serve coffee, a hot water dispenser or the ability to brew a pot.

Since I’m both a coffee and tea drinker it would be convenient to have a coffee maker that also offered a hot water dispenser. This is also nice for people with limited kitchen space since it’s two appliances in one.

While some people may argue that a kitchen appliance isn’t the best gift, I don’t know anyone who wouldn’t love a new modern coffee maker. With the variety available it’s nice to personalize it to the person you’re buying for.
