Best Buy has just been recognized as one of the best places to work in Canada. That is great news for Canadians looking for a job because Best Buy is always looking for enthusiastic, talented people who want to help Canadians find the best consumer goods for their homes and families. This is just after getting selected as one of the Top employers of British Columbia 2017. I’ve been working at Best Buy’s head office for over four years and I can attest to the many reasons why Best Buy was selected this year by the Canada’s Top 100 Employers’ committee.

About the selection process

Getting selected to be part of this elite group is tough. Companies are evaluated on eight criteria. these factors include the obvious like “workplace” and “financial benefits” and perhaps less obvious things like “community involvement.” Yes these are all “work” factors but I think the critical thing to recognize is that we spend most of our lives working. So a high score on any of these criteria is a huge win for overall employee life satisfaction.

What does Best Buy have to offer employees

Just by getting selected to be part of the Top 100 Employers in Canada should tell you that Best Buy is a great place to work. So what sets Best Buy apart from other businesses in Canada? First of all Best Buy has a diverse range of employment opportunities. There are a huge range of jobs available at Best Buy. This is not only important for those just getting out of school and wondering where they can go to apply the skills they just learned. Many people start at Best Buy in one role, then transition into other roles, often several, during their career. Don’t want to stagnate in one job for too long: Best Buy is for you!

Best Buy doesn’t just tolerate change and growth in its employees, it champions change and growth. There are many learning opportunities within the company. Enhance your presentation skills, your public speaking, your leadership skills: these are courses that benefit any career path, making you more confident and successful no matter what job you have. Best Buy also supports individual training in many ways, including subsidized university and college programs. Best Buy recognizes the individuality of each employee and enables them to develop and grow in the direction they choose.

There are many perks working at Best Buy too, that you will not get anywhere else. Best Buy has a stellar employee purchase program where we can get discounts on almost everything that Best Buy carries, in the store and online. Some employees may not use the gym at head office, some may take their lunch to work and not partake of the amazing cafeteria, or the numerous other benefits from stock options to matched donations, but I don’t know a single fellow employee who doesn’t enjoy the employee purchase program—especially during the holiday season!
