boxing-day-tag.jpgI love Christmas. It’s my favourite time of year, but this is one holiday that can be exhausting. After a month of getting gifts, decorating the house, having friends and family over, cooking and cleaning up after a huge dinner, and the monumental task of breaking down all of the boxes and recycling all the wrapping paper, I’m exhausted.

After all that, Boxing Day has always been a designated day of rest over at my house. The only plan is to wake up late, grab our sleds, and head to the local ski hill for some snowy fun.

This is why I’m glad Boxing Day sales have changed over the years. I used to miss out on some great deals because I couldn’t make it out to go shopping on Boxing Day itself, but now sales are extended to a full week instead of just one day. I can even shop online from the comfort of my computer and still pick up some amazing Boxing Day or Boxing Week deals.

Boxing Day kicks off the most exciting shopping of the year, and I’ve got my list all ready to go. Here is what I’d like to pick up on Boxing Day this year:

Shiny new year, shiny new refrigerator

After 10 years with the same stove, I recently upgraded to a brand new convection range, and it’s sort of blowing my mind. I can’t believe how technology has changed over the years, and everything I bake in the oven comes out perfectly.

Once you upgrade one appliance, all of your other appliances start to look sad, so my fridge is next up for an upgrade. Boxing Day is one of the best days of the year to pick up new appliances, and refrigerators are no exception. I’ll be keeping my eye out for a French Door Refrigerator that will fit in perfectly with my new oven.

HMDI ports to spare

My current big screen TV measures in at 55 inches, but when I bought it a few years ago, the fact that it had only two HDMI ports wasn’t that big of a deal. Now, with multiple video game consoles, a Blu-ray player, and a cable box that needs hooking up, two HDMI ports aren’t enough. To make matters worse, one of the ports isn’t working!

That’s where a new TV comes in, and Boxing Day is a great time to pick one up. TV sales are legendary on Boxing Day, and the 60” Smart TV I have my eye on is no exception.

If Santa decides not to leave me a

New tablet, I’ll be ready come Boxing Day to go and pick one up. After one too many drops by the kids and a nice hairline fracture on the old iPad 3, it’s time to upgrade to a shiny new iPad Air 2. I’ll just have to hide this one from the kids.

Cozy new bedding

On the West Coast, January tends to be chillier than December, and when it gets cold and wet outside, there’s nothing like cuddling up in a cozy bed complete with fluffy duvet. Because there are such great deals on new duvets this Boxing Day, I’ll be grabbing one for everyone in the family.

Whether you head out at 5 am to brave the crowds on the busiest shopping day of the year, or you opt to sleep in then hit the great sales going on for the entire week, you’re going to be able to cross off all of the things on your Boxing Day wish list at Best Buy this year.

Check out the Boxing Day flyer right now and get ready to shop!

  1. For those that didn’t get the gift they wanted (wrong color? wrong size? wrong model? wrong item?).  This is the time to correct it.

Otherwise, order a gift card Xmas morning to be spent on Boxing Day discounts!
