Hockey Ultimate Team sees big changes
For the first time ever in franchise history, IIHF Women’s National Team players can now play alongside men in a Hockey Ultimate Team lineup. This means there are no limitations and you can now finally make your dream team of hockey’s best players.
National teams will continue to play a prominent role in NHL 23, as national team players will have both base and master items incorporated into HUT events. Additionally, you can now compete in a variety of new rotating game themes in HUT Rivals. And, this year’s game will have 3 additional tiers of HUT Rivals Rewards.
Finally, to ensure a smooth transition, if you start playing NHL 23 on PS4 or Xbox One and move to PS5 or Xbox Series X|S you will be able to transfer your HUT content after an update in November, 2022.
Cross-platform matchmaking comes to NHL 23
NHL 23 is set to bring an all-new level of social play to the franchise with cross-platform matchmaking. For the first time ever, players on different platforms will be able to play against each other in a race for the puck. Cross-platform play is slated to launch in November 2022 and will allow players of the same platform generation in World of Chel and Hockey Ultimate Team (HUT) play together.
This means if you are playing NHL 23 on Xbox Series X|S, you’ll be able to play against your friends on PS5 and vice versa. The same goes for Xbox One and PS4 players. The launch of cross-platform matchmaking across same-generation consoles for World of Chel and HUT means you won’t have to wait as long to play against someone online and create fewer player pools to ensure you have more options to face off.
The most authentic in-game atmosphere franchise history
NHL 23 marks the second year that the franchise is using the Frostbite engine and this year’s game has a whole new level of visual immersion. You can expect electrifying new OT Winner, Hat Trick and Shootout celebrations, stadiums with overhauled levels of Crowd Awareness and Moment to Moment Reactions.
Moreover, a whole new series of Last Chance Puck Movement gameplay animations have been added. But wait, there’s more! NHL 23 has 500 new Stumble Action animations, loose puck plays and enhanced goalie AI. Without a doubt, NHL 23 has the most authentic in-game atmosphere in the game’s history.
