Astro's Playroom

Cool Springs – a robot’s paradise

Cool Springs is one of four stages in Astro’s Playroom and introduces you to every feature on the DualSense Wireless Controller. The stage is broken up into four sections: Bot Beach, Springy Spa, Frigid Floes and Hotel Hopalot. In this stage, you use the touchpad to zip up Astro into a spring bounce suit. And, use motion controls to control the direction of your jumps in the bounce suit.

Additionally, you blow into the DaulSense’s microphone to power a pinwheel that moves a platform across water. That’s not all! Furthermore, there’s haptic feedback on the triggers in your bounce suit and as you glide across the ice.

Finally, the adaptive triggers create a resistance when charging up your spring to bounce.  It is astonishing at how well all these features are integrated into gameplay. During this level, you collect coins, punch enemies and unlock classic PlayStation artifacts.

Visually, Cool Springs is full of vibrant colours and reflections that put a grin on my face the entire time I was playing. In fact, Astro looks so darn cute and toy-like that it could easily be a Pixar film. Moreover, there is always something going on in the level. From robots chasing each other on the beach to acting out scenes from iconic PlayStation games.

The DualSense Wireless controller allows you to feel the world around you

Without a doubt, the DualSense Wireless Controller is a game changer for PlayStation 5. It’s well built, feels comfortable in my hands and has a good weight to it. Comparatively, it feels a little heavier than the DualShock 4. Furthermore, the DualSense Wireless Controller‘s Haptic feedback is unbelievable! By all means, I could sit here all day and tell you just how cool it is, my words don’t do it justice.

From sand blowing to skating on ice, haptic feedback does an incredible job of allowing you to feel the world around you. Correspondingly, it’s far above any type of rumble in other controllers currently on the market.

Astro's Playroom

Astro’s Playroom launches November 12, 2020 and comes loaded on every PlayStation 5 console

Astro’s Playroom does an incredible job of showing what the DualSense Wireless Controller is capable of. I can honestly say that there is no other controller currently on the market that even comes close to what the DualSense Wireless Controller can do.

Any doubts I had about the DualSense Wireless Controller‘s abilities are long gone. Including Astro’s Playroom on every PlayStation 5 is a brilliant move by Sony and is the perfect showcase for Sony’s new console and controller.

Stay tuned for my full review of PlayStation 5, later this week!
