I have a theory. A product that has a long name is almost always better than a similar product with a short name. Take, for example, my favourite coffee indulgence: a large-triple-shot-extra-hot-no-foam-sugar-free-vanilla-soy-cappucino. Now, doesn’t that sound a million times better than plain old “coffee”? I think so. And if my exceptionally scientific theory has any merit at all, then the LG 65” 4K Ultra HD 240Hz IPS Smart TV might just be the king of the TVs. All kidding aside, this TV is packed with features that are sure to please.
In keeping with the “long names are better” theme, let’s break down the name of this TV to illustrate all that it can do for you.
65”– It’s big
There’s not much explanation needed here. At 65”, the LG 4K Ultra HD IPS Smart TV is big. In fact, I’m pretty confident it eats TVs like my little 36” for breakfast. But it’s not just big – It features an edge-lit LED display, which means that not only do you get a lot of depth in your picture, but because the LEDs that illuminate the pixels are located only on the edges of the set, the set itself is exceptionally thin.
4K Ultra HD 240Hz IPS – It’s got amazing picture quality
Right now, when it comes to TVs, 4K Ultra HD is where it’s at. Why? Because they deliver four times as much detail as 1080p HD. That’s eight million pixels versus two million pixels, and that equates to greater image clarity, finer image detail, and a more realistic image than you could have ever imagined.
Add to that equation IPS and the LG 4K Ultra HD Smart TV really takes picture quality to a whole new level. IPS, or “In-plane switching” panels are recognized worldwide for their leading response time and energy-efficiency. By aligning LCD and LED technology, IPS panels offer a wider view angle and ensure vivid and clean moving images. So, in a nutshell, IPS means a world-class viewing experience. Smart TV – It’s got the functionality of a computer rolled into a TV
There’s smart, and then there’s LG Smart hub, which features a customizable dashboard so you can access you favourite content in record time. And because LG Smart TVs come equipped with LG’s webOS, you don’t need to add external devices like AppleTV or Roku to access online services like Netflix or YouTube, or even just to surf the net, listen to music or post to your favourite social media network. All you need is an existing Wi-Fi network and you’re good to go.
Another “smart” feature of the LG 4K Ultra HD IPS Smart TV is its Magic Remote. Why is it magic, you ask? Well, not only is it a universal remote, which means you can control any part of your home theatre system with one tool, but it lets you navigate the TVs onscreen menus via a scroll wheel and by simply pointing the remote at the right part of the screen, very much like you would do with a Nintendo Wii controller. And it can be controlled by your voice. Yes, folks, this is very “Minority Report” and all sorts of awesome.
You can also share content from your smartphone or tablet on all 65 inches of this LG Smart TV. Imagine how cool it would be to sit in your living room with your friends and family and show your photos from your recent trip to Bali on a 65” screen? Pretty darn cool, if you ask me.
So, what does the LG 65” 4K Ultra HD 240Hz IPS Smart TV have to offer besides a really long, acronym filled name? As it turns out, a whole lot.
