Premium TVs begin with outstanding new technology

I get this question quite frequently on the blog and on social media, “I want to buy a new TV; can you tell me which TV should I get?” My answer is to figure out your budget and space considerations for the room where it will be placed, then get the most future friendly TV with the largest screen that will fit in your home that you can afford. Future friendly means best technology available. And this year is a banner year for new technology in televisions.

I am planning on getting a new set for my home one day. I have a budget in mind and a TV size in mind (65 inch). I haven’t decided which brand to purchase yet because they are all so tempting! Each of the top manufactures has released new televisions with outstanding new technologies that make the colours more vibrant, details clearer, and the overall entertainment experience much better.

Do your research and plan for your next TV

Buying a television does require doing a bit of research. This contest will help you do that so you will know which future friendly Premium TV will be right for your home. There are three television prizes, one from each of the major TV manufacturers, Samsung, Sony, and LG, as shown here.

  5. Re: Sony Premium TV Entry 2020.

    I absolutely love the Sony XBR 4K Android TVs, right down to their ultra-thin bezels (I have 2 older ones)!

    In this year’s models I’m excited about the Super bit mapping™ HDR, Live Colour™ Technology, Precision Colour Mapping, 4-speaker configuration (I have 2-speaker), Dolby™ Atmos, larger on-board storage (16GB instead of 8GB), built-in Google voice assistant and Google Home compatibility.

    A) The biggest major improvement in technology (for me) in Sony Premium TVs this year is the change from a Direct LED screen to a Full Array screen, which gives better contrast with realistic shadow detail.

    B) As far as the best model by Sony featured on the BestBuy website, my favorite would be the XBR-65A9G model from the Master Series (https://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/sony-65-4k-uhd-hdr-oled-android-smart-tv-xbr65a9g/13492002). Having an OLED panel instead of LED offers a much better picture and offers absolute black tones, and it’s a whole different (and better) technology.

  34. A) Samsung The Frame 65″ 4K UHD HDR QLED Tizen Smart TV. I’m so in love with the Art Mode feature. It’s such a creative way to use your tv for a second beautiful purpose. I would definitely take advantage of this feature.

    B) Sony BRAVIA 55″ 4K UHD HDR OLED Android Smart TV – Love the vibrant, life like images. The acoustic surface audio makes it sound great too. Who wouldn’t want a tv like this in their home?

  35. I’ve relied on Samsung phones for years, for I’d be open to trying one of their TV’s, too!

    Because of all the gaming I do, I need a really smooth, seamless TV, since the game can sometimes be choppy if there’s a major event occuring (BLUE TREASURE GOBLIN!) – so my TV will hopefully have a good refresh rate to minimize this from happening. I think the Samsung The Frame 55″ 4K UHD HDR QLED Tizen Smart TV (QN55LS03TAFXZC) – Charcoal Black would be a good fit for me. I love how many pre-loaded apps it has, including DAZN, which is fab, since I often have friends over to watch sporting events, and between DAZN and UFC, there are some good options there.

  36. Sony is such a great, trusted brand! For me, I use my TV mostly for gaming, and watching streaming video, so having YouTube and NetFlix preloaded (and Netflix Calibrated Mode!) just makes is so easy. The Full Array LED technology means my gaming experience will be great!

    If I were to pick a new Sony, I would pick the Sony 55″ 4K UHD HDR LED Android Smart TV (XBR55X950H). I like that it has the Ambient Optimization technology that automatically adjusts picture and sound to suit your environment, has a ton of pre-loaded apps and modes, as well.

  37. I love that the LG’s are designed to be thin, and have NVIDIA compatability for a better gaming experience! I have an LG that’s lasted for some time, and I was very pleased with my purchase, but sometimes while gaming, colours aren’t as varied or sharp as I’d like.

    I think if I had to pick a LG TV now, I would probably pick the LG NanoCell 55″ 4K UHD HDR LED webOS Smart TV Smart TV (55NANO85UNA. I couldn’t find a model with the NVIDIA options in your current offerings, but the model you are giving out now has a ton of awesome features, like wireless and wired capability, and has a small footprint.

  47. Well this technology caught my attention for the Samsung televisions. The Samsung 8K Quantum Processor also optimizes sound for each scene, and adjusts brightness to the room’s environment. How interesting! I think this would be perfect for my livingroom which is quite bright in the daytime due to a rather large window.   48. I go into Best Buy and see these fabulous televisions on display and see what I am missing. The clarity, the colour! I want something that is SMART as well to suit my household.
