Versatile, go anywhere portable speakers are made for summer. I’ve had a bunch sitting at my desk waiting for summer to arrive so that I could give them away. And now is the best time since Best Buy has just started their “Sounds of Summer” event! This event is a great way to learn which speaker, indoor or outdoor, and which headphones—wired, wireless, or True wireless—is right for you. At the same time, enter our contests. In the first of several contests for audio technology that we’ll be running during this event we are giving away a great selection of portable speakers that were reviewed on the blog. So, enter now, and return regularly to discover new audio related contests all summer long.

Portable speakers are a great place to start for music in the summertime

Music does many things for me: sometimes it’s relaxing, sometimes it’s energizing. But always it’s welcome! I use a variety of speaker types around my home. In my garden, though, it’s a portable speaker from Sony, I’ve had it for a couple years; it keeps me entertained and singing outside. Like most portable speakers, it connects to my smartphone via Bluetooth, and I can easily control the volume from the speaker or from my phone. It holds a charge for hours and I move it around as I need to so my music goes wherever I go. There are new, more powerful speakers available now from Sony and I might be looking to upgrade soon.

What to do with all of these speaker samples

Many of the speakers carried at Best Buy arrive at my desk for me to send for reviews … so I have tried a lot of different kinds. When they return from the bloggers, I am often asked to give them away in a contest. That’s the situation with all of these. Great speakers that have only come out of the box for a short test and now are in need of a good home where they’ll be used and appreciated. There are 3 pairs of awesome Marshall speakers, 3 pairs of awesome Sony speakers, and one fantastic Ultimate Ears Hyperboom party speaker. Think about where you would use a new portable speaker and enter this contest.

How to enter

Entering this contest is easy but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us which speaker type discussed in the “Sounds of Summer” article are you most interested in this year and why.

What you can win

At the end of this contest, we’ll select 7 winners from all eligible entries and randomly assign each person to one of the 7 prizes: one will win a pair of Marshall Stockwell II speakers; one will win a pair of Marshall Kilburn II speakers; one will win a pair of Marshal Tufton speakers; one will win a pair of Sony SRS-XB12 speakers; one will win a pair of Sony SRS-XB22 speakers; one will win a pair of Sony SRS-XB32 speakers; and one person will win the Ultimate Ears Hyperboom speaker.

  14. Hello there. We love to entertain and have a beautiful back yard in which to do so. We have a lovely large deck with lounge area, BBQ, and dining area all overlooking our ornamental pond, fire pit, and garden. The only problem is, is so far we do not have any way to incorporate music to our events. The JBL PartyBox 100 Bluetooth Wireless Speaker would definitely solve this problem. It would be so nice to add some ambient music, playing in the background, to our gatherings. To date we just don’t have additional funds to purchase something like this. Our youngest son has been undergoing cancer treatments at CHEO and at SICK KIDS for the past three plus years. With my husband not working, the cost of travel, parking, and the additional expenses associated with our sons illness we have depleted our savings. Needless to say we are left with only the funds to purchase necessities and pay our bills. The JBL PartyBox would definitely be a nice surprise. Thank you for your consideration. I hope you are all staying safe and healthy. Have a wonderful day.

  18. I would love to try the Bose Soundbar 700 Smart Speaker with Voice Control Built-In. Our tv sound is very blah and would love to amp it up when we watch movies with the grandkids!

  19. I would like a wireless multi-room speaker, such as the Boss Home Speaker 500, so I can listen to music in the various rooms of my home.
