DJI drones are versatile for photography and really fun to fly. Their newest model, the DJI Mavic Air 2, can film in 4K at 60 frames per second! That is seriously amazing. It can reach amazing heights, speeds, and distances, so it’s much more than a toy. However, when used responsibly it elevates your senses—you’ll feel like you’re a bird in the sky! Read more about the newest drone in the DJI family, then enter for a chance to win the demo model that we had reviewed on the blog.

What can you do with a drone

A drone is more than just a flying camera. It does fly; and it has a camera. But fly a drone and suddenly you realize this is a very unique experience. First there is the feeling of lift-off—you’ll never forget that surge of excitement. Remember you are in control, elevating, tilting, drifting to the left and right. There is a learning curve, but it’s not steep; quickly you adjust your perspective to react appropriately to capture the bird’s eye view of your surroundings. If you are able to use it near your home, you’ll will gain a new appreciation for the world around you. For me, rising about ten metres above my house allowed me to capture a view of several gulf islands including Saltspring and Pender.

DJI packs their drones with amazing features

With the new DJI Mavic Air 2, you will be able to do so much more than you might think from the moment you turn it on. It is so easy to use. We sent the prize for this contest to Shelly to test it out and she was amazed that she instantly was able to capture smooth, professional looking videos, right out of the box. Watch her video to see some of the images of her farm taken with the drone.

Shelly shows what’s included with the drone, how to assemble the drone, and offers some tips on how to fly it. She also speaks to many of the unique features that enable you to do some really interesting things with simple menu selections. I love the Helix Quickshot function!

The Mavic Air 2 has many features to help you get the most from flying it. It can even help you find safe flying areas near your home. This is very important; you will want to be sure about what areas near you allow drones and if there are maximum height restrictions too. You should read Shelly’s article for a more in-depth descripton of some of the key features that she tested. Be sure to return to this page to learn what you need to do to enter our contest.

  1. The Advanced Pilot Assistance System 3.0 (APAS) to assist with obstacle avoidance would be a must feature for a novice pilot such as myself.

  2. I think the obstacle avoidance feature while I’m biking down trails would be so cool. I’m not a hardcore rider or anything but I think I could impress a few people!

  3. I have just crashed my Mavic Mini when flying backward into a hidden tree on a hill. I would love to try the obstacle avoidance Mavic Air has for flying backward. I NORMALLY fly into air when take off and watch where I am from air, it will be easier to find my home location when fly back home.

  4. I would love to try out the Quick Shots modes that were mentioned—they sound interesting!!

  5. I super excited to see everything this camera can do. I think the auto takeoff would help as I’ve never flown one before.

  6. Has an auto-mode and normal-mode. Able to follow the subject and avoids objects in the way if necessary.

  7. With all the increased dangers and security and being a beginner, knowing where the safe areas to fly are would definitely be a very helpful feature.

  8. Haven’t had an opportunity of using a drone to film but I can just imagine the opportunites that lie before me with the video modes available. I espeacially like the fact that with drone im able to narrow in on a subject. And having it maneuver around the subject. My videos are gonna be next level with this feature.

  9. Has auto-functions. Using a drone can be difficult especially trying to understand the way to fly the drone. With these auto-features enabled, allows more advanced functions.

  10. 4K60 on the Mavic Air 2 is a game changer for cinematic videos especially since the mavic air could not shoot at that frame rate!

  11. I like the flying in ‘low light’ feature and the use of DJI Mavic Air 2 as a ‘Go Pro’ camera!!

  12. The 4K video camera as well as panoramic modes would be amazing for me to bring back to Cape Breton Island when I visit next month.

I’ve been eyeing up a photography drone for a while, and this looks like it would have everything I want and more.

  13. I will enjoy the versatility of its functions and modes.
The 4k feature will make the filming NEXT LEVEL. Cannot wait!

  14. I think the fact that this drone is able to shoot 4K makes it worth its price. Not to mention that the auto track feature is perfect for novice drone flyers. The ability to edit the video straight through the DJI fly App is also very useful because you can make basic edits and export the video straight onto social media seamlessly.

  15. The auto take off and landing features are very much needed as I would be a novice drone handler. The battery life seems decent as well to allow you to run it a bit before the need to recharge

  16. I would like to try auto take off as well as the 4k is great, since it’ll be up to date with the rest of the stuff after we view it. I already flew a drone, so I’m no novice!

  17. I love that the Drone can auto takeoff and land and those are the hardest to operate. I also love that it has a 4k video camera onboard. I like that it return home when the battery is low…great feature. Thanks for the chance to win.♥

  18. First off I would live a drone that flies reliably with longer flight time. Second is the quality pictures it can take

  19. I would like to try out how long it’s range is. I have a drone that doesn’t have great range and I am looking for some longer distance.

  20. Thank goodness for the auto take-off and auto-land features! This eliminates the “beginner frustrations” and makes sure that the fun starts right out of the box! Love this!

  21. I would like Auto-take off, auto-land, and automatic return to home point on low battery.

  22. I would like the auto-function features as I have never used one before and surely would need it!

  23. I think the obstacle avoidance would be so helpful. Along with the ability to lock in on something or someone! Would make for some really cool photos or videos!
