Smarten up any home with D-Link smart home technology

Here’s a bold statement: almost every home in Canada is smart. How can I say that? Well, let’s start with the router. A non-smart home would not have a router. Do you know anyone without home Internet? I don’t. Of course, many people own a router that is old and slow and generally not very good; perhaps it was the cheapest they could find, or perhaps it just came from their ISP (Internet service provider). So, the first way to smarten these homes is to improve Internet speed and efficiency with a new router: and D-Link has some great routers to choose from. The grand prize of this contest will include the wonderful D-Link AC1750.

Here’s another bold statement: almost every home in Canada is not smart enough. My wife might think that our home is smart enough, but I would whole-heartedly disagree. She would point out the high-speed router, the smart speakers, the many cameras around our home, the smart doorbells, and smart lights as evidence for her position. I would point out that our television is over ten years old (i.e., not smart), we have not a single smart appliance, or smart lock, and only “some” of our lights are smart. We have a long way to go to having a house that is smart enough for me.

I do not advocate adding tech to your home just for the sake of having more tech. Smart products are practical. Look at the three prizes offered in this contest, for instance.   32. The Smart Water Sensor would be a great addition as water leaks sometimes cause a lot of damage before they are discovered (e.g. dishwasher connections, under sinks).
