Musicians love to receive a new musical instrument for many reasons. One is just the joy that anyone feels to get something new. But that feeling fades fast. What lasts is the learning and experimenting that can go on for months, taking the musician out of their comfort zone (or worse, their rehearsal rut) and allowing a new platform for their self-expression. This contest might be the perfect elixir for three musicians in Canada since we are giving away one Kramer guitar and two Yamaha keyboards.

Kramer Focus VT211S Guitar delivers the fat-strat sound you love

Vintage-style guitars - Kramer

You know you want this guitar. I know I do. It brings me back to the great hair bands of the eighties. The Best Buy Blog review by Nikolai should be your first stop to learn more about this instrument. He discussed why the Kramer Focus VT211S Guitar is a fun instrument to play and demonstrated it’s tone and range with a selection of songs (including one Van Halen piece).

Yamaha keyboards expand musical abilities of any level of player

Yamaha PSR-e373 Keyboard

Learning new songs has never been more fun than it is on one of the two Yamaha keyboards we are giving away in this contest. Again, to learn more about the PSR-E273 or the PSR-E373, you should read the reviews by Nikolai Olekhnovitch. He discussed many of the features of these two instruments and demonstrated how Yamaha makes learning fun and easy. These two keyboards are incredibly versatile and offer something for every keyboard player, from beginner to experienced.

Imagine playing a new instrument right now

Some people say musical ability comes mostly from practice; others say it’s from talent. Both are likely involved, but to get the most enjoyment, I believe you need to exercise your musical imagination. I love the lyric, “Picture yourself in a boat on a river,” because it’s a great example of the marriage of imagination and music. I challenge you to picture yourself with a Yamaha or Kramer, learning to play Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds or some other song you’ve heard a million times and want to be able to reproduce on your own. Then enter this contest for your chance to win a great instrument from Best Buy.

How to enter

Entering this contest is easy, but you can only enter once. First, picture yourself sitting in a quiet room in your home with a new guitar or keyboard from Best Buy, and then tell us in a comment below what song you are going to learn first and why you chose that song.

What you can win

At the end of this contest we will randomly select three winners from all eligible comments on the blog. One person will win the black Kramer Focus VT211S Guitar that Nikolai reviewed, one will win the Yamaha PSR-E373 that Nikolai reviewed, and one person will win the Yamaha PSR-E273 that Nikolai reviewed.

This contest runs from July 29th to August 15th.

Remember, you can only enter once by leaving a comment beneath this article. However, there are many people in your life who would be inspired after winning one of these instruments, so share this contest and give them a chance to win too.

  1. If I win the keyboard, I’d like to learn how to play “Music Box Dancer” or, “Stairway to Heaven” if I win the guitar.

  2. I would play Wanted Dead Or Alive on the guitar as it is one of those songs everyone starts singing when they hear it.

  3. The song I would learn first on my new guitar would definitely be a Johnny Cash song. Either A Boy Named Sue, or Coward of the County because my whole life I remember my Dad playing Johnny Cash songs on his guitar and singing. I absolutely want to keep those memories alive for my children and my grandchildren (when they come into the picture).
Good luck to all entrants 🙂

  4. I would like to learn Journey’s ‘Don’t Stop Believin’. Reminds me of a great concert that I saw a while ago. Thanks for the opportunity.

  5. I would love to play ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ on my new keyboard….but will be happy with playing ‘Happy Birthday’ for my granddaughter’s birthday!!

  6. I am going to learn, Carole King’s song, “You’ve Got A Friend”. I love that song, because it was on the very first 8-Track Tape back in the early 1970’s, that I purchased of Carole King, and it makes me remember the hard times that myself and my friends have endured through our lives.

  7. I’ll learn Morning Glory by Bill Evans on the piano. This track made me feel things I never felt before. Of course Evans’ music in general does this.

  8. Since I’ve never played the guitar before, I would mess around for a few minutes before learning Through the Fire and Flames by Dragonforce.

  9. If I’m going to be honest it would be Twinkle Twinkle Little Star. Something simple so that I will have success lol

  10. I would have to be alone doing this and trying to learn “Smoke on the Water”. I will be a true beginner, but it is something I would like to do.

  11. I would like to play the mario and spongebob theme song as I have just started learning the guitar(currently renting one) and those are my songs I want to play badly, but have to learn a bit more music in order to play them, they are my short term guitar goals and would be so cool to play my clasic games I loved on the guitar.

  12. I would love to learn to play Hey Soul Sister because I think it would make a great campfire song to sit around and sing with friends.

  13. If I were to picture myself sitting in a quiet room in my home with a new guitar or keyboard from Best Buy, the song I would learn first is “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran and I would choose that song so that I could play it for my husband to be on our wedding day.

  14. While my guitar gently weeps
The Beatles, for my uncle we lost. It was his favorite and he was looking time volunteer hockey coach for whole town! RIP uncle caveman

  15. I’d like to learn guitar with U2s and the Edge’s “Where the Streets Have No Name” but realistically I’ll probably have to sped a year on whatever the guitar equivalent of chopsticks is.

  16. Has to be Smoke on The Water on the guitar, because my brothers and my husband learned that same classic rock song before me!

    You guys rock!

  17. If I were to win a keyboard, I would learn tchaikovsky’s – swan lake theme first. It is fun and can be learned by a beginner. if I were to win a guitar, then I wuold start with “love me do” by the Beatles as it startes with just two chords.

  18. Listen to your Heart by Roxette. I think the instrumentals of the song would be a great song to learn on the keyboard or guitar. It’s also one of my all time favorite songs!

  19. I’d first learn ‘Wonderwall’ by Oasis because it would be satisfying to play on the guitar myself (plus people usually like to sing along).

  20. I’d rather go Blind by Joe Bonamassa and Beth Hart. Not and easy song to learn but a nice easy feel in a quiet room with an ambiance.

  21. The first song I’m going to learn will be “Don’t stop believing” by Journey. Such an amazing song that I love to play guitar to and sing. As a songwriter the Yamaha PSR-E273 keyboard would be such an amazing tool with all the sounds programmed in it. Hours and hours of fun!
