Introducing the Blink XT2, wireless home security system with 1080p camera
Blink improves on the popular Blink XT indoor/outdoor wireless home security system with the new Blink XT2 camera. It gets double the battery usage of the Blink XT, despite adding exciting new capabilities. Expect up to two-years of use from a single pair of AA Lithium batteries, with Full HD video, live-view recording, customizable motion detection, infrared night vision, and two-way audio. Use the Blink XT2 indoors, and you have the option of plugging it in and using Micro USB for power.
Setup is easy (even outdoors) with no tools, wiring or professional installation required. Continuing the low-cost theme, the Blink XT2 system comes with free cloud storage so you don’t have to sign a service contract or pay monthly fees to access saved video clips.
The Blink XT2 also works with Alexa, so you can use select Alexa-enabled devices to interact with your security system using voice commands.
Extended battery life
The key to a wireless outdoor security camera is batteries, which eliminate the need for a hard-wired or plug-in power supply. Unfortunately, the battery is the most frustrating part of the experience for many wireless security systems. Batteries typically have to be replaced or recharged monthly, and many cameras use proprietary battery packs. The Blink XT set a new standard for battery life in a wireless camera, but the new Blink XT2 doubles that performance.
With the Blink XT2, you can expect up to two years of use from a single pair of AA Lithium batteries. That’s two years of motion-activated recording, watching a live view video feed, and using two-way talk to converse with people near the camera. When it’s time for replacement, there’s no need to search for a charger or to track down a custom battery pack, simply pick up a pair of easy-to-find AA Lithium batteries.
2-way audio
Blink XT2 is much more than a wireless outdoor security camera. It incorporates advanced security features including infrared night vision and motion detection, so you can keep an eye on your home 24/7. It’s also IP65 weather resistant, which is important given the hot summers, wet springs, and snowy winters many Canadians experience. And although it’s designed to withstand the elements, you can easily remove your Blink XT2 from its mount and position it indoors.
An important new feature introduced with Blink XT2 is two-way audio. The camera is equipped with an integrated, directional microphone. No matter where you are, you can use your smartphone to have a two-way conversation with a person near the camera. This is especially useful in scenarios such as being at work, and letting a delivery person waiting at your front door know to stash your package in the garage.
Customizable motion detection
Motion detection is critical for an effective home security system. You’re not going to be watching the live feed from the camera at all hours of the day and night, so the effectiveness of having a camera depends on it reliably detecting motion and sending you an alert. However, many security cameras stumble in the implementation of this feature. For example, a tree near the front porch that constantly moves in the breeze can trigger a motion detector. Or a cat that likes to jump up and sit in a front window.
The Blink XT2 camera lets you easily designate customized activity zones where it watches for motion detection. So no more false alerts generated by that swaying tree, or the cat in the window.
