The Arlo Essential Spotlight wire-free indoor/outdoor security camera lets you see essential details inside or outside of your home, day or night, in crisp, high-definition resolution.

The wireless, weather-resistant camera is easy to set up in just a few steps. If you don’t have the Arlo Smart base station, you can simply connect it directly to your home’s Wi-Fi. Using the app, you can get smartphone notifications any time the camera detects people, cars, animals, or packages and view real-time footage. If desired, you can also speak to visitors using the clear two-way audio. The camera has a rechargeable battery.

There’s an option to sign on for a subscription for cloud recording, with rolling footage every 30 days at 2K resolution. It comes with a free 90-day trial period after which plans start at $3.99/mo. to continue using cloud recording and other smart features.

With the Arlo Essential Spotlight camera, you can see clear details of the inside of your home, like your front door or the baby’s nursery, or outside areas like your porch, driveway, or back gate. It records in full 1,080p high definition quality, both during the day as well as at night.

The rugged camera housing can withstand heat, cold, rain, and sun, so you can safely use it outdoors to keep an eye on your front door, garden, or car to spot intruders, potential thieves, nosy neighbors, delivery persons, family members, or mischievous animals.

With two-way audio, you can advise a delivery person to leave the package on the porch, soothe your toddler with your comforting voice, or tell the dogwalker where you left the spare key so she can get inside. The Arlo Essential Spotlight camera works with the Arlo app as well as a compatible smart assistant.

Shine the Spotlight

Thanks to an integrated spotlight, you can see clearly, even in the dark of night. Shine the spotlight on an intruder in the middle of the night, with the ability to see details in full color so you can confidently identify the person should a crime have taken place. On a less sinister note, call out your rebellious teen for sneaking home after curfew or stop the neighborhood kids from coming on to your property.

The spotlight can either be triggered by motion or manually set up should you suspect there’s someone or something lurking about.

The real-time two-way audio comes in handy here as well, so you can scare away an annoying raccoon so it stops eating your fresh vegetables, or keep intruders from walking up your driveway and to the back gate.

Long-Lasting Battery

Even though the battery isn’t removable, it lasts a long time, at up to six months per charge based on using the camera for about 4,000 seconds per month, or an average of 30 seconds per stream.

This, of course, will vary based on how often you use the camera during the day and/or at night, what settings you use, and other environmental factors. It might also depend on if you have signed up for and are using cloud recording as well.

Nonetheless, even if you have to recharge the Arlo Essentials Spotlight camera every three months, you can set a reminder and ensure it’s always fully charged. It comes with the necessary charging cable.
