Overwatch Open Beta Early Access

Unlike many other betas that offer limited content, or a slice of the final game, the Overwatch Open Beta will let you play as all 21 heroes, and give you access every map available at launch. This beta is as close as it gets to playing the retail version of Overwatch, letting you sample what the game offers as a whole.

Those who pre-order Overwatch on BestBuy.ca (online only) will receive 2 beta codes (one for you, one for a friend) that will get you entry into the Open Beta Early Access period from May 3-4. This two-day head start will be your opportunity to sample what the game has to offer before the all-access Open Beta period that kicks off May 5. Beta codes will be emailed out on May 2, so make sure to add Best Buy to your safe sender list, and check your Junk/Spam folder just in case. Please note that this offer ends April 29, 2016, and codes are in limited quantity, while supplies last.

Intense 6 vs 6 combat

One of Overwatch’s defining features is its diverse cast of playable characters ranging from warriors, to scientists, to robots, to oddities. Each combatant has their own backstory, possess their own unique fighting skills and abilities, and will play one of four key roles during skirmishes—offense, defense, tank, and support. Offensive characters are highly mobile and deal large damage, defensive characters specialize in protecting locations, tank characters have the most hit points and can absorb significant damage, and support characters provide buffs/debuffs that assist your team or weaken enemies.

Maps in Overwatch are inspired by real-world locations, such as the Temple of Anubis (Egypt), King’s Row (London), and Hanamura (Japan), and have their own distinct feel with unique team-based gameplay objectives. Game modes range from Assault missions where the objective is to capture critical targets, Escort missions revolving around transporting a payload to a delivery point, and Control missions focused on securing and maintaining a key control point.
