Coming this February to PlayStation 4 and followed up in March on both Xbox One and PC is the highly anticipated first installment of DLC for the latest game in the Call of Duty series. Call of Duty: Black Ops III Awakening, is bringing you 4 new maps and the latest installment of the fan favourite Zombies game mode, called Der Eisendrache.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III is the twelfth entry in the series, released in early November of last year and is a direct series to the 2012 Call of Duty: Black Ops II. Currently Call of Duty is a huge phenomenon  and the latest game is also making a big splash in the eSports circuit, check out my article here for more information on the upcoming World Gaming Canadian Championship featuring Call of Duty Black Ops III.

Set to release on February 2nd, 2016 for Playstation 4 and March 2nd, 2016 for Xbox One and PC, Awakening promises to be just what fans are looking for as the first of the download content for Call of Duty: Black Ops III. Awakening will have 3 new multiplayer maps, a re-imagining of a map from the previous game and the next chapter in the always entertaining and practically impossible Call of Duty Zombies.

The 3 new maps in Awakening are Gauntlet, Splash and Rise. The first map Gauntlet, is set in a military training environment with 3 lanes, a snowy lane,a jungle lane and an urban lane. The second map, Splash, is set in an abandoned water theme park, it will include using defunct water slide to move around and underwater combat. The last of the new maps is Rise, set in a construction facility, this map promises to harken back to the classic Call of Duty maps.

The fourth multiplayer map included in the Awakening DLC is a re-imagining of the Call of Duty: Black Ops II map Hyjacked, renamed Skyjacked. Along with a visual improvement on the latest generation of console Skyjacked will feature new options in terms of movement and mechanics, for players to take advantage of and get the jump on the competition.

Lastly included in the download content will be Der Eisendrache, the next chapter in the Call of Duty: Black Ops III Zombies adventure. You and your friends will once again take control of “Tank” Dempsey and his comrades in arms, Richtofen, Nikolai and Takeo. This chapter will take place in a medieval castle built upon the site of ancient unspeakable horror. Massive deposits of Element 115, have recently been discovered at the castle, which will have some exciting twists in store for you and Tank.

The best way to get the Call of Duty: Black Ops III Awakening DLC will be PlayStation 4 come February 2nd, using a PlayStation Network Card or on Xbox One using an Xbox Live Card when it launch on March 2nd.
