And yes, that loved one can include yourself!

Matricom G-Box — the smart gift that keeps on giving

Christmas shopping can be tricky, but when you leave it until the last minute, it can be a nightmare! Thoughtful gift ideas don’t always spring to mind spontaneously. They require some serious thinking. You need to search your memories and try to recall every conversation you’ve had with your loved one over the last 12 months. Maybe you can decrypt something they said in passing—a clue to the greatest gift they never got. If memory fails, here’s another solution: Think of what they love to do, and figure out a way to enhance it. Here’s a suggestion: Nearly everyone likes TV. Maybe Santa is bringing a new one in the near future? Maybe a premium media streaming box would go along perfectly with that TV?

Whether you or your loved one is a fervent cord cutter, cinephile, gamer, or sports fan, the Matricom G-Box Q3w makes an ideal gift for all kinds of leisure pursuits and lifestyles. It lets you stream TV shows, movies, videos, and music. You can play any game available in the Google Play Store and connect a wireless controller via Bluetooth. You can watch live TV. You can even browse the internet and check social media and e-mail. Whatever you use your smartphone for, the G-Box delivers the apps that let you do it on your big screen!

Wirelessly connecting to your home network, and featuring a low profile design at just 1″ thick, this slim box packs serious power under the hood with an Amlogic s905X quad-core processor with 2GB of RAM and Penta-Core Mali-450 graphics. With muscle like this, it’s no wonder the Q3w is able to stream 3D and 4K content from the internet! It’s powered by Android 7.1 Nougat, and comes with 16GB of flash memory, as well as an SD card slot, so you can expand the memory with ease. The Q3w G-Box comes with a backlit keyboard remote with touchpad, so you can find what you’re looking for faster than ever and take full advantage of every app available.

Big screen (app)eal

One of our tech journalists, Gadjo Sevilla, reviewed this media streaming box and you can read about his experience. He found installation to be completely effortless. You simply plug the device in, connect the HDMI cable, select your wireless network, and you’re done!

When you get to the home screen, you’ll notice there are two app stores (Google Play Store and Matricom Store), so you can immediately start downloading your favourite applications such as Netflix, YouTube, Facebook, Kodi, and much more. The user interface is a breeze to navigate. It categorizes your apps by game, video, music, and live TV. In typical Android fashion, each section is easily customizable too, so you can personalize your layout and make it quick and easy to find your favourite content every time you sit down. The question is, what app will you launch first on your big screen?

HOW TO ENTER:

You can only submit one entry for this contest. In a comment below this article, tell us what app you would launch with your G-Box that would work especially well on the big screen? A lot of you will instantly think of Netflix or YouTube, but try to think outside the box (pun intended). For inspiration, check out all the apps available in the Google Play Store. Tell us about one app you would use frequently and why that app would work great on your big screen.

WHAT YOU CAN WIN:

We will randomly draw one winner, and that winner will win this Matricom G-Box Q3w media streaming box. The prize is outlined in the Rules and Regulations posted below.

This contest runs from December 13th until December 27th.

  1. I would do my banking on my tv! imagine if you could pay all of your bills, look at statements and get all those time consuming tasks done in between shows! I think it would be great.

  2. With my g box I would get VR games so I can start my very own you youtube channel and get lots of views and become famous.

  3. It would be a blast to put HQ Trivia on the big screen with a bunch of friends around to have a group team to crush out the tough questions near the end. It would make teamwork a breeze on other trivia apps too.

  4. The app I would use on the Matricom G-Box Q3w media streaming box is Netflix. Love to watch movies and shows on my TV.

  5. Our family would use it to watch Vevo to watch music videos and sing and dance to an embarrassing level!

  6. I would love to run Termux which is an extremely powerful terminal with an extensive package collection. The big screen would give me a lot more “playing room” to do all sorts of cool things such as auto-downloading any new pictures from my smartphone to the media box.
