Why you should be looking at Samsung TVs in 2023

Have you looked at the range of TVs on display at a Best Buy store these days? I have. Impressive. Almost all of them are LED TVs, though there are a range of types of LED TVs. In the store your eyes will first be drawn to the stunning Samsung Frame TVs. We gave one of these away earlier this year on the blog. Then you’ll look at some of the other types of LEDs and, if you are like most people, you’ll be confused by the terms: OLED, QLED, and Neo QLED. All three are great. All three do some things better than other things. For example, OLEDs have the best blacks thanks to individual self-lighting pixels. QLED has the best brightness (great for bright rooms) thanks to the backlighting. Neo QLEDs are the best combination thanks to their arrays of mini-LED backlighting. Samsung QLED and Neo QLEDs have other advantages too including lower costs.

Why do you want a new TV this fall

Each year, the fall season seems to usher in not just pumpkin spice lattes and sweater weather, but also a surge in people bringing home new TV sets. Here are the top two reasons why:

1. New models and clearance sales

Television manufacturers often release new models in the spring and summer so by fall, these new releases have had time to be reviewed so you know which ones to buy. This not only help you make more informed decisions but also puts pressure on retailers to clear out older inventory to make room for the next generation of models. So whether you are looking for the best new TVs or last year’s models at significant savings, this is the best time of year.

2. Ready for holiday entertainment and sports events

The fall season is a precursor to major holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve, all of which are synonymous with family gatherings and home entertainment. People anticipate needing a better or bigger TV to host movie marathons, special broadcasts, and, of course, holiday specials. Additionally, fall is a significant season for sports with the NFL, NBA, and NHL seasons bringing excitement into our homes. The lure of watching big games and key matchups on a shiny new screen can be hard to resist.

Fall is a perfect storm of incentives; it’s the season not just for falling leaves but also for finding the perfect new TV for your home on television sets. And it’s the perfect time for us to have a contest giving two of the newest and best TVs away.

What you can win

At the end of this contest, we will randomly draw two winners. One will receive the Samsung QN90C TV that Shelly reviewed and the other will receive the Samsung Q70C TV that Shelly reviewed.

This contest runs from Sept 15th to Oct 1st.

  4. Our Samsung TV is 12 years old and the sound is starting to go! This Q70C would fit on top of our fireplace mantel so perfectly too, as ours is too small as well. The 2 shows I look forward to watching most are (the return of) Handmaids Tale and House of the Dragon

  27. I’d love a new TV this fall for the improved viewing experience and the opportunity to upgrade my outdated model. Currently, have a budget TCL 50 inch tv but the panel is not at the same level of a QLED. So playing Starfield on a QLED would be much nicer than an our regular LED for the darker blacks, as well as watching Ahsoka and Silo.

    From Shelly’s review of the Q70C I learned about its impressive 4K UHD HDR and QLED technology from the Quantum processor. The fact that the Q70C has the adaptive picture setting to optimize the picture to the room is really cool tech and the also seeing that it does 120hz for my Xbox Series X would be awesome. My ideal TV size for my home would be around 50 to 60 inches. So 55 would be perfect.

    We watch or game around 20 hours on our tv a week in our home. Things that stuck out from Shelly’s blog is that the QN90C has promising exceptional picture quality which is almost OLED like quality. On a small level the solar remote is also a nifty feature.

  29. The two reasons why we would like a new TV this fall are we don’t have a smart TV, and we can not connect wireless headphones so that one of us can watch TV and the other can do something else. The two shows we look forward to watching if we win this contest are Traders New Zealand and Winter House!

I would really like to get a new TV this season because the one I currently have was inherited when I moved in so it’s probably more than 6 years old – it’s acting up by cutting audio and video at times and I’d like to get a TV with supreme picture quality and a great size for viewing movies, docs and streaming series. What I would really like to watch this fall are programs I’ve missed over the past few years because Hollywood actors and writers are on strike so their will be little to no new stuff. I’ll be watching Oz, the Wire and Breaking Bad – yeah they’re old but most of the new TV stuff is terrible.

  47. I would like a new tv this Fall, so I can watch programs and movies in their proper vibrant colours. My current tv does not show colours correctly and that is a bummer. I also would love a new tv or the Fall in a decent size or my living room so I can see movies as they should be, full of life and realistic.   48. 1. Our current TV is a 12-year-old 1080p. Moving to a new 4K with HDR would be a huge upgrade.
    2. We’re almost done renovating our basement which is the perfect place to put it.
