LG Home Entertainment System.jpgLG has some of the best value TV and home theatre components you will find because their brand perception isn’t as strong as their competitors, but the quality of their equipment is. Because of this, they have to price a bit more aggressively even though their products are as good or better. So if you are looking at a new home theatre system picking all LG components is a great way to go – good quality, lots of features, and good value.

Needless to say I am a big fan of LG home theatre products as they will make a great home theatre system. There are also interoperability advantages of having all your components come from the same manufacturer. Since everyone’s budget is not the same I have put together a couple of LG home theatre systems that are both excellent entertainment systems—one is a top-of-the-line system for higher budgets and the other is a high-quality system for a lower budget. The great thing about LG is that whichever system you choose the value will be there, both in terms of dollars spent and entertainment value.

LG 55EC9300 OLED TV.jpgTop-of-the-line LG System:

I would normally recommend the biggest quality screen that you can find, because bigger screens simply make a more immersive experience. However, LG’s 55” OLED TV – 55EC9300 has one of the best pictures that you will find in any TV. In fact, CNET ran this TV through a myriad of technical tests and have declared this LG model as having the “Best Picture Ever.” OLED technology is known for having awesome picture quality that is very rich, clear, and realistic but LG has mastered it to deliver a truly remarkable experience with this set.

The LG 55EC9300 is a beautifully designed TV that is loaded with features. As an OLED TV it has an extremely thin curved screen that is quite elegant looking. It is a Smart TV with LG’s WebOS platform combined with a magic remote, making it one of the easiest-to-use smart interfaces that you will find in the market. In addition, it is a 3D TV that will convert 2D to 3D so you will never be lacking 3D content. With the high quality of the OLED picture the 3D experience really pops more than most 3D TVs. It has great connectivity options including MHL ports so you can mirror your portable devices on this beautiful big screen. For more detail on why I chose this set, have a look at my earlier post on this set.

LG 5.1 Channel Sound System.jpgLG Sound

Depending on your available space I always recommend a surround sound system to complement your TV, but if space is an issue a sound bar is an excellent solution. Both options will be a big step up from the sound from the thin OLED TV.

LG has neatly packaged their 1200 Watt 5.1 Channel Blu-Ray Surround Sound System with a full set of 5 speakers plus subwoofer as well as a 3D Blu-Ray player. It does also come with Smart features, which you don’t really need with the already Smart 55EC9300 OLED TV. Most Blu-Ray players these days come with Smart platforms, although they are generally never nearly as good as what you will find with the TV. I like this surround system because it has plenty of power, sounds great, and has the 3D compatibility. In fact the Blu-Ray player will upscale standard definition to high definition. In addition, it has Bluetooth so you can use it to stream music from your iPod or Smartphone. It even has a “sound to phone” feature where it will send audio from your movie to your Smartphone, although I am not sure this is a feature that is all that useful.

A simpler solution to creating a very good sound experience is using LG’s 320 Watt Sound Bar with Bluetooth and a Wireless Subwoofer. This is a super sleek model that will make a very attractive addition to the OLED TV. It doesn’t have the same power as the LG surround system, but it doesn’t need as much because there are fewer speakers to drive. This sound bar is a 4.1 channel bar that has a 3D surround processor that will create a multi-dimensional sound experience. With Bluetooth connectivity you can also wirelessly stream music using any of your Bluetooth enabled devices. This sleek sound bar is a great alternative to a full surround system.

LG 4K UHD TV 65UB9200.jpegHigh Quality System

If your budget won’t quite accommodate the LG top-of-the-line system, don’t despair as you can still get an awesome LG home entertainment system at a lower cost. A great choice of TV is the LG 65” 4K Ultra HD 240Hz IPS Smart TV. It has the advantage of being a bigger screen than the OLED. Because it is a very high resolution 4K Ultra HD set with an IPS panel, it has an excellent picture. It is very well priced considering it is a large 4K set, so it is not too tough on the budget. It has many of the same features as the OLED model above except for 3D capability, which for most people is not a big deal. It does have the same WebOS smart platform with a magic remote, and lots of connection ports including an MHL port for screen mirroring. With a 240Hz refresh rate plus LG’s Ultra Quality Index 1320 it is great for gamers and it will stay crystal clear when viewing fast action scenes of any kind.

LG Sound

I would suggest complimenting this 4K UHD TV with the same LG 1200 Watt 5.1 Channel Blu-Ray Home Theatre System mentioned above. For the money it is great value, and it has more power than LG’s next system down (the LG 1000 Watt 5.1 Channel Surround System) plus it has Bluetooth connectivity, which this system doesn’t have—all for a similar price.

If you prefer the convenience and space saving qualities of a sound bar the 320 Watt Sound Bar would also be a great compliment to this LG 4K UHD TV, but another one to consider that is a little easier on the budget with great sound is the LG 300 Watt Sound Bar with Wireless Subwoofer and Bluetooth. Like the one above it has a very slim profile so it will look great with this 4K UHD TV. Although it is not a 4.1 channel sound bar it does have various presets for gaming, music, or TV, which enhances the sound based on what you are using the bar for. It also has two optical inputs so you can connect more than one device with a higher sound quality optical connection.

LG Home Theatre Systems

Both of these LG Home Theatre Systems are the latest technologies so they will give you many years of enjoyment. These LG systems are also very good value. The OLED TV is extremely highly rated by all the critics as you won’t find a TV with a better picture. The LG 4K UHD TV is also an extremely good picture in a bigger screen that won’t break the bank. Combine it with LG surround system or sound bar and you instantly have an entertainment system that anyone would be happy to have.

I love to try new technologies and I have a practical approach to techie stuff - it has to be easy to use and make my life better. I have my house fully wired, with a surround sound system in my family room for music and TV viewing, but also drive music throughout the house as well as outdoors. I Internet stream content on all my devices at home, which provides a huge variety of entertainment to enjoy.
