A great home theatre receiver will make all of your home theatre viewing better. A receiver is a critical component needed for a premium audio experience in the home. Many of us will be watching the big game mid-February (you know what I mean!). Many of us will also be watching the best movies of the previous year in anticipation of the big awards ceremony in March (again, you know what I mean). Wouldn’t it be amazing to have this fantastic Denon receiver delivering the best sound no matter what you are watching. Learn how you can enter for a chance to win.
Why does the sound matter when watching sports
My wife doesn’t follow football, or hockey, or tennis. I blame her parents. I grew up watching all three and still enjoy them all. The bigger the match or closer the game to a championship match, the better. And the game is usually more exciting if every bone crunching hit is audible—loud even.
When the crowd roars, I want to feel the vibration! When the ball hits the crossbar, I want to hear a distinct “ting” resonate as the kicker’s facial expression melts. When my favourite running back breaks a tackle and sprints toward the end-zone, I want to experience each step as if I’m running alongside encouraging him. The game is not the same without great sound.
The television networks put millions of dollars into capturing the audio experience as much as the visual experience. You must put some care and consideration into how you will hear it or you are missing out.
Have you given up on watching movies for their amazing sound
But we are getting used to missing out, aren’t we? I watch many shows on a phone wearing earbuds. It’s not right and I know it. A film like “Knives Out” was not designed to be watched like a mindless TikTok video. Just like you can’t get as immersed in a story on a small screen, you also can’t with earbud audio. You don’t feel the emotional tension of the characters, or the suspense, or especially the magic of the big moment without big audio. No one would visit a movie theatre, despite the big screen experience, if the sound wasn’t also all it can be.
The Denon receiver we are giving away in this contest helps you return to the good ole days of experiencing big sports games, and brilliantly intense movies, with awesome sound. Add some great speakers and suddenly your home is where everyone wants to be for that big sports party or movie night. We sent the prize that we are giving away in this contest to Jason for an honest review. Read his thorough review to learn more about the versatility and capabilities of this device.

Win a Denon home theatre receiver Rules and Regulations
Good Luck.
There’s nothing like watching a good DTS-encoded movie on a proper surround-sound system!
With this awesome receiver, I would watch Go Brady movie! It would feel like you are part of the action and the visual and sound would be phenomenal.
Tenet is the loudest movie that I can recommend to watch with a Denon receiver, it is a movie with sound like no other.
Nothing compares to the loud sounds and the heat that is produced by the receiver when watching Tenet at high volume.
The subwoofer rumbles during the battle scenes, and the bizarre backwards action scenes are out of this world!
I’d recommend All Quiet on the Western Front (2022). With a great home audio system you are truly transported to the trenches.
“If I had this receiver, the first sporting event I would use this for would be ….watching some blue jays baseball home opener at the renoed dome
The upcoming Formula 1 season would be the thing to watch. Hearing the engines scream every Sunday morning would be awesome!
any Marvel movie!
If I had this receiver, the first movie I would watch would be the 4K Blu-ray Interstellar. The music is absolutely stunning.
I would recommend Avatar! The visuals and score are incredible and would benefit greatly from a big home audio system
LOTR 4K – Improved quality and sound of the 4k versions is amazing and you need something big to take advantage of that for sure. Makes you feel apart of the movies.
I would watch the first available Toronto Maple Leafs game in 4k
I’m going to go with the Superbowl. Get all enveloped by the action and crowd noise and peaked off by the half time show.
I would recommend watching the Toronto Raptors and Toronto Maple Leafs games to a friend if they had a big home audio system because you can hear the action of the players checking each other, passing the ball, and the fans cheering in action to provide that immersive feeling that you’re right there in the action.
the upcoming superbowl would be amazing to watch! To hear the crowd cheering extra loud would be so awesome!
The Dark Knight would be much better if they had a big home audio system because it is a movie with an incredible score meant to be consumed with the proper equipment.
Top Gun Maverick Would be My 1st Choice. I Bought the DVD for my Husband for Christmas. How Cool Would That Be! Thank You Best Buy for a Great Contest & Giveaway.
Any action movie is more enjoyable with a great sound system – I think Jurassic Park would be a good example – I would recommend this one to friends – listen to the roar!
Any Horror movies that make use of the 3D audio
I’d watch Top Gun Maverick to experience being inside a jet would feel like
Watching any of P!nks concerts with a great receiver would be amazing. It would feel like you are there. To feel the crowd cheering and to hear P!nk nice and clear would be a great way to watch her concerts without leaving home.
I am a big Biopic fan so I would recommend either Elvis, Bohemian Rhapsody or Rocketman to a friend to watch on a big home audio system because of the great sound and fantastic music. It is amazing to hear what a great job the actors do in portraying the artists.
Top Gear : Maverick……that movie is so pic with the right sound
Any of the tennis grand slams, especially the Australian Open or the US Open because as the tension builds during a long rally a good sound system will capture the feeling of the crowd erupting as a point is scored
UFC. The smack of the gloves to the face. The thud of the kicks to the ribs. Wonderful!
Superbowl and Stanley Cup
StarWars – John Williams. The opening theme. The greatest song of all!
Top Gun: Maverick. I have a bit of an outdated receiver and the sound on that Blu-Ray disc is the best in my library of movies.
Top Gun: Maverick would be amazing to watch with this new receiver! The sounds of the jets would take you right into the action!
Star Wars film franchise would be great ay home OMG can’t wait
football, especially the Superbowl!
Braveheart
Gladiator
All of Star Wars
Titanic
I will go with the movie ‘The One’ for the music in it all being heavy
2001: A Space Odyssey is a movie that has fabulous sound effects. Those effects sound so much better at the theatre or with a big home audio system.
The movie I’d recommend is, Master and Commander: far side of the world. Every little sound you can conceive about life on an old ship comes to life with a surround sound system. Even the quiet scene, you hear the creaking of the ship and the lanters swinging. One scene where the cannon are fired in a training exercise is spectacular. Lastly, the scene during the ship battle …you will swear your home is collapsing.
Superbowl
Football!
I would watch the LOTR trilogy in blu ray to hear the great soundtrack!
I would recommend Everything Everywhere All At Once because it would be so epic with amazing sound
Top Gun: Maverick and Avatar Way Of The Water and WWE events as well as boxing and UFC.
Watching the Super Bowl would be amazing with this receiver, or the new Top Gun Maverick movie.
Top gun would be great to watch with the right sound. Songs are great and I want the house to shake when I hear the roar of the jet engines. That would be a really cool movie night
The sound for the Star Wars film franchise would be unbelieve on a home theatre sound system. One could really be immersed in all the sound detail.
it would be great for watching the SuperBowl since i love the half time concerts , great to have really good sound for a change !
On a properly set up home theatre setup with good speakers following THX guidelines, you can really get immersed in the Star Wars series (on BluRay) – I’ve heard & felt it better at my buddy’s home than your average cinema. Too bad he only has a 65″ screen.
But really, listening to the Eagles’ Seven Bridges Road on DTS Audio on a proper receiver with really good speakers shows the subtleties in their 5-part harmony.
The new top gun in Atmos….that will get someone on board
I remember seeing Earthquake in Sensurround. The effect was only interesting since the movie was ehhh. Apocalypse Now with an ass kicking ausio system would be amazing.
If I had this receiver, the first movie I would watch would be Bohemian Rhapsody, to really hear all that great music
