Best Buy has toys that create memories today for nostalgia tomorrow. Because toys are more than just playthings; they are sources of endless fun for all ages, and for adults they are bridges to the past. From the moment we grasp our first teddy bear as a child to the many times we nostalgically look back at our favourite childhood playthings, toys are integral to life. Explore some of the newest toys at Best Buy today, that will build memories to last a lifetime, then enter to win one of twelve fantastic toy bundles.

Toys create memories: the foundation of who we are

From the moment we’re born, toys become a part of our world. They are companions, teachers, and sources of comfort. As children, we assign personalities to our toys, embark on imaginary adventures with them, and even confide our deepest secrets to our plush friends.

For me, the stories I created while playing with cars and figurines established a love of storytelling and a love of writing. Remember the toy car that sparked your interest in automobiles? Or the doll that was your inseparable friend during those long summer days? These toys are not just objects; they are the building blocks of our childhood memories. They remind us of simpler times, filled with wonder, curiosity, and unbridled joy. The memories they created helped shape what we can do, what we know about the world—helped shape the adults we have become.

Toy nostalgia is a bridge to bygone days

There is one great scene in the second Tim Allan Santa Clause movie where a boring staff Christmas party is transformed into a fantastic, memorable night for all (in the film and in the theatre watching the film) thanks to a sackful of nostalgic toys like Rock ‘Em Sock ‘Em Robots. There is no denying that toys can transport us back to our childhood, evoking a flood of emotions and memories. The scent of an old teddy bear, the familiar tune of a musical toy, or the worn-out pages of a childhood book can stir feelings of nostalgia. You’ll need to draw on some of those memories as you enter this contest.

The new toys that we are giving away in this contest will do for our children what toys did for us. They’ll help them learn about things, help them learn to socialize, etc. Many years from now, the toys you find at Best Buy today will evoke moments of nostalgia for our children. Here are the brands that provided toys for this year’s holiday toy contest. Learn about them, and click on the brand to see some of the best toys and games that 2023 has to offer.

  1. It definitely has to be the Connect 4 game.
Even though I had brother’s they would never want to play. I would sometimes play Connect 4 by myself. I loved the sound of the checkers clinking against one another and then releasing them. It was so therapeutic. Ah the childhood memories. As a kid, you could always find things to do by yourself and still be happy

  2. The vtech story time with sunny reminds me of a projertor i had that you had to hand crank. I remember charging the neighbourhood kids 25 cents to come watch a “movie “ which was about 15 seconds.

  3. The Toy Shock Barbie Large Kitchen Set with Accessories is so cute and fun! Reminds me of the toy kitchen I had as a kid, except mine was fast food themed and a hand-me-down from my brothers. Lots of fun memories with that toy set though. But this one is so much cuter!

  4. This one’s pretty simple, Connect4 reminds me of my childhood. I actually remember receiving the game for Christmas and playing all the time with my older brother. The game is still popular now for Christmas 🙂

  6. The toy shock barbie play kitchen reminds me of something similar as a kid. We used to prepare so many pretend meals for our restaurant at that play kitchen, and my mother was our best customer, always.

  7. Toy Shock Barbie beauty set as I had one Barbie as a kid and it had mini accessories including hair brushes and shoes. I spent hours sewing little clothes for the doll too.

  9. We always played Yahtzee at my friends house.
Her family are Brilliant. I played The Game of life and Scattegories Sometimes. I had a Barbie with a pretend fur coat. . We bought our Daughter a lot of Barbies. A few gorgeous holiday Barbies. Gave a Barbie for a gift. Epic generous Contest. Would be a dream come true. I love V Tech , Hasbro and Fisher price. This would be great for our GrandDaughter.

  10. The Hasbro G.I. Joe Classified Series – Mutt & Junkyard Action Figure! I used to have this figure when I was a kid!!!! Had so much fun playing with my friends and seeing the different figures we all had!

  18. The Trivial Pursuit game reminds me of how my sister and I made up our own game with our parents’ old Trivial Pursuit because we were too young to know any of the trivia. I don’t remember much of our made up game but it involved throwing all the cards in the air. My parents probably hated it lol

  27. The Hasbro Gaming Chutes and Ladders and it reminds me of the board game snakes and Ladders as well as another native board game called Ludo ( from Nigeria)

Looking back it brings so much pleasant memories of how my cousins and my siblings would compete and try so hard to win the game so they can have the last piece a full can of soda and some cookies. It was usually a weekend evening favorite for all while growing up.

  28. I don’t know the name of the old toys I had, but the Toy Shock Barbie Beauty Play Set with Accessories definitely feels nostalgic. I didn’t have any Barbie sets, but I had three friends with ALL the Barbies and allllll the accessories. They had tubs and bins and even suitcases stuffed with Barbie clothes and accessories. I want to spend all my time at their houses playing Barbies. It was always so much fun.
