Ring is my favourite home security manufacturer. I’ve tried many. When my children were young I had a complete Brinks alarm system in my home, which worked fine, but was pricey. Since then, however, smart home products have become the most popular solution due to the low cost, high dependability, and—well let’s face it, smart home products are very cool! Enter this contest and Ring will have your home covered with some great home security products.

What makes Ring really smart

My top 3 favourite things about Ring are the ease of use, the great notifications, and the customer service. Ease of use of the app and the devices is just one really smart thing about Ring. I started adding Ring products to my home on Mayne Island about 15 months ago. They are so easy to install! I now have 2 outdoor security lights; one over the entrance to my carport, and one at the side of the house overlooking the main driveway to the house. I also have a video doorbell at the front door, and one at the backdoor. These work seamlessly with the Ring app on my phone: I can easily switch from one camera to the other at any time to see what is happening at the location. Also, I can activate the external lights on the cameras as I approach my home for personal safety.

Notifications work great and keep improving. When I first started using Ring, I was annoyed that notifications seemed spotty: sometimes the action that triggered the notification was over before the camera started recording. However, Ring keeps improving their app and their products, so that issue is a thing of the past. That brings me to one of the smartest things about Ring: responsive customer service! As I said I have used many different smart home products from many manufacturers, and Ring is probably the best at customer service. Just to be clear, I did not ever present myself to them as the Editor-in-Chief at Best Buy, one day likely to write an article about their products. I just told them that i am Martin, living on a little island off the coast of British Columbia.

Why did I contact them? I made an error (totally my fault) and broke the backing plate of the camera. Within a few days of explaining my problem, I had the part at my home, and the camera was installed in minutes. As I said, great service!

What are your smart home concerns

Why did I go into so much detail about their service? Well, Ring has recently started offering a home security package, with home monitoring of entry points, and keypads, motion detectors—everything you expect from home security. I have not tested this product yet, but given what I’ve learned about Ring, I expect that they will offer great service here as well.

So, tell me what are you looking for to make your home smart? Are you very concerned about the service you get? Perhaps you are most interested in getting some cameras around your home, or smart doorbells, or something else. One thing I forgot to mention is the great subscription package they offer. Most of the main home security companies require a subscription to get the most from their products. I love that with Ring, one very low price covers everything: video storage from all of the devices at your home, and home monitoring if you have their Wireless Home Security Alarm. All of it … one low monthly price. Now that is very smart!

HOW TO ENTER

Entering this contest is really easy but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what your most pressing home security concern is, and what Ring product you think would be best suited to resolve that. Your problem might be a dark driveway, solved by a camera with a light. Instead it might be much larger, so you are looking for something like Ring Home Security to protect your family throughout your home, at all hours of the day.

WHAT YOU CAN WIN

At the end of the contest we will draw 2 winners. One winner will receive the second place prize that includes a Spotlight Cam and a Video Doorbell 2. The other winner will get the grand prize which includes 2 Spotlight Cams, 2 Ring Doorbells (a Video Doorbell 2, and a Video Doorbell Pro), and Ring Alarm Wireless Home Security!

This contest runs from October 12th until October 25th.

Remember you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to add some fantastic Ring smart security products to their home, so please share this contest and they too will have a chance to win one of these prizes.

  1. Theft of deliveries left in door steps. The Ring doorbell can document if the drive rang the bell and a camera can monitor the step and identify thieves.

  2. My husband and I have been talking about a home security camera for awhile now. We travel quit a bit and have a Nest Security Camera at our doors would give us a piece of mind while away.

  3. I have an awkward entryway which means unless I fully open the door I can’t see who’s there, this would make my life easier and safer 🙂

  4. I’d really, really love this! Before my daughter even turned 2 she decided she wanted to take herself out for a walk. We’re 2 doors down from a semi busy street.. I haven’t been the same since! Although we’ve since child proofed, I still triple check the doors after someone comes home or leaves the house. I’d really love some peace of mind!

  5. The Spotlight Cam would be very useful for our house since I live in a rural area and there is a huge problem with break ins.

  6. I have a very dark front door entrance so I would benefit from security lights and a video doorbell.

  7. We justed moved to a new house in a new neighborhood and there is not much light around the house for now that Ring SPotlight would be awesome the lite the backyard at night !!!

  8. The video doorbell is great for my family and also great to help anything that may happen in the street, say to another house or person in the street.

  9. The video doorbell would be great to see who is there without opening the door because our grandkids will not open the door until they know who it is.

  10. My biggest concern is thieves in our neighborhood, there are often car break ins etc. An outdoor cam would be nice to keep an eye out.

  11. We are having a lot of break-ins in our neighbourhood these days so I think having a Ring Alarm Wireless Security Kit would be my biggest need.

  12. The Nest Wifi smart learning thermostat. I’m am always adjust the temperature so would be so awesome to not have to get up to do it or do it while on my way home so the house is warm when I arrive.

  13. Answering the door to random people while I’m alone at home has always been a no for me. With the Video Doorbell, I could answer it without physically opening the door and I would feel much safer doing so.

  14. The Ring spotlight Cam. We have a lot of vehicle break ins and vandalism in our area. This would be a great deterrent and to have video to share with neighbours and police is a huge plus.

  15. My biggest concern is not seeing who is behind the door before opening it. This video doorbell will solve this problem by showing clearly who is knocking.

  16. I am most concerned about answering my door to people I don’t know. I think the ring video doorbell would solve this issue for me.

  17. The Spotlight Cam would be would keep our yard safer. Hate when vehicles pull into the yard in the middle of the night.

  18. The alarm system would be my choice. We have yet to install one but it would give my wife and I peace of mind that something would let us know if our kids are opening the exterior doors.

  19. I’m worried about people breaking into the garage or our cars. A spotlight cam would lighten the area and video monitor

  20. My driveway is at the back of my property, and I have it gated because I have a dog. Sometime people open the gate and come to the back of my house, and because of the positioning of my garage i can’t see. This would be wonderful for keeping an eye on a huge blind spot on my property.

  21. Two weeks ago while my fiance and I were in bed, I heard someone trying to open the door ( we have just recently moved into this neighbourhood) . When we went downstairs to check out the situation we heard our garage door being opened. We had to call the police and report this incident. We don’t have any motion detector lights or any security cameras. These options would provide peace of mind for us to know that we can watch over our house and ensure that our dog is also safe when we are not home.

  22. There’s alot of bike theft that has been reported happening at our neighbourhood. Having a reliable security alternative solution like ring video doorbel pro would be an perfect solution for me.
