Review: The Weiser Kevo Deadbolt System

Since we originally visited the Weiser Kevo last fall, it has made its way to store shelves and online at BestBuy.ca, and it’s time to take a little more of an in-depth look at this imaginative device, allowing you to enter your house with just the touch of a finger and the magic of Bluetooth technology.  Is it easy to install?  Easy to program?  How is a home handyman novice like me going to fare with replacing a major lock in the house?  Click on to find out.

New netTALK VoIP App for Android Promises Savings for Canadians

We all want to save money and VoIP (Voice over IP) technology is one of those great ways to cut your spending. It uses the Internet and its cheap data as an alternative to making voice calls using a telephone or cell phone. Great idea. When it comes to VoIP, netTALK is one of leaders in Canada and the company has just announced the launch of a new Android app that’s exclusive to Canadians. This netTALK app features a long list of benefits including a free Canadian number, free international calls between app users and free international radio streaming. Given the popularity of NetTALK’s Duo VOiP telephone hardware, this app is definitely worth checking out.

Western Digital My Cloud Review: The Best Thing to Happen to External Hard Drives...

Many of us have more data than we know what to do with. Digital photos, digital movies, MP3s and old school stuff like documents and spreadsheets can start to take up a lot of space on your PC. On your smartphone or tablet, it’s even worse —a lot of those photos get snapped on a smartphone and with limited storage, it doesn’t take long to fill them up. Cloud storage is always an option, but then you’re at the mercy of the provider and there may be charges associated with the service. Western Digital offers a compelling alternative —a “personal cloud”— with its My Cloud series of network hard drives. I tested a 3TB My Cloud drive and came away convinced that this is the best thing to happen to hard drives since USB.

Review: Rocketfish Bluetooth Indoor/Outdoor Speaker

As you are no doubt well aware, these days the vast majority of us store our music libraries digitally. True, some of us still have dozens of CD’s that do little more than take up room and collect dust on our shelves – I mean, c’mon, when am I ever going to listen to Chumbawamba’s “Tubthumping” ever again? But when it comes to cranking the tunes, we turn to our smartphones, tablets, and computers. Streaming music through these devices is commonplace, and as such, has opened the market doors for a plethora of wireless speakers.   Unfortunately, devices that use Sonos or Airplay can be quite expensive; however, those that use Bluetooth, which comes integrated into virtually every modern tablet, phone, and computer, are much more affordable, and even better, aren’t platform-specific. I recently had an opportunity to test the Rocketfish Bluetooth Indoor/Outdoor Speaker, and have to say, I was pleasantly surprised.

Get Your Blending On with BlendTec Blenders

More often than not, multifunctional kitchen appliances do an average job executing their full arsenal of tasks, but rarely do they do any one task exceptionally well. But if you’re anything like me, that just won’t do. You want it all and are willing to invest in something that can slice, dice, and cut tin cans in half. Well, you’re in luck. While BlendTec Blenders can’t cut through tin cans (or can they??), they take chopping, churning, pureeing, and everything else that comes with blending very seriously.
