How to Enter

  • The first fun way to enter is on Twitter. Follow @BBYC_GamersClub on Twitter. Complete the #RoadtoE3 story and share your result on your Twitter account timeline.
  • Online: Provide a 200 word essay in the comments section of the blog (below this post) explaining how long you’ve been gaming and why you need a new gaming console.

You can enter once per day either on Twitter or here on the blog.

What you can Win

There will be 6 prize bundles offered on 6 different days. Each bundle is worth approximately $1000 and will contain one gaming console (either and Xbox One or a PS4), a selection of games, and a $100 Gift Certificate from Best Buy (so you put toward the purchase of anything you want from Best Buy including one of the newest games announced at E3). The complete prize list is shown below in the Rules and Regulations. We will choose one winner from all eligible entries on each of the 6 draw days.

The contest will run from June 7th until June 13th .

Remember that you can enter on Twitter or on the blog. Either method of entry is equally acceptable.  Be sure to tell your friends and family to enter as well. 1. I think my first contact with video games happened at the age of 4 years old with the NES, my older cousin was playing Zelda on it and I enjoyed watching him play it. I didn’t know that beginning from that day a unending passion for them would start. It’s just that simple, I never stopped craving for games till today and I don’t think it will ever stop. I used to play for days and days (even though today I don’t have as much time) and I have been lucky enough through the years to manage to play with almost every console that came out thanks to a circle of acquaintances who happened to also like video games. I most of the time couldn’t afford to buy a new console (ps1, 2 and 3 only) and it has always been a disappointment to not be able to play all the new games I got news about in magazines, on websites, etc… Today, I still try to catch up with them (starting from the SNES) when I have the time…
Now I’m looking for a way to get a ps4 and a Switch to not miss out again on my “to play before I die list” of games I can’t wait to get my hands on.

Good luck to everyone and good E3 2018.

  2. I have been gaming since I was about 5 or 6, about 1978 I would imagine.  I remember our first Atari that was kept on top of the family floor model RCA television and the BETA Machine.  I played tetris and the tennis game, I forget what that was called.  Oh yeah, I just Googled it, it was called Pong.  We would also game as a family at the donut shop after church on Sunday if we were good (there was three kids so it was a dicey situation that three of us would behave for one full hour).  Pac Man was the game of choice at the donut shop and it cost a quarter.  I need a new gaming console now because we have a fourteen year old boy and all we have is a playstation two in the house.  We feel that it’s time for us to come into the next generation of gaming consoles, and this contest would very much assist that process.  There would be a whole new world of gifts for birthdays and Christmas and give the kid something to save up for.  Teenagers don’t want for much else than an up to date gaming console and a cell phone these days!

  3. Hello I am the Gold guardian and I have been gaming ever since the good old days of the nes playing games like Double dragon and Teenage mutant ninja turtles in the basement at my cousins house since I was only around two or three years old and my parents wouldn’t let me have my own game system until years later when the sega genesis came out, thought I’d still go to my cousins every chance I could get just to play Super mario world on their snes.   So from the very start I was never beholden to any one system and would play on whatever I could get my hands on.

Games are my bread, my butter and my jam but by while I grew up to be a lifelong gamer my cousins did not.   I can’t go over to their house anymore to play the other system I don’t have so I started to buy them myself. The reason I need a new gaming consol is because by myself I simply can’t afford to get every system that’s out anymore which means I’m missing out on some amazing exclusives that I wouldn’t be able to ever try otherwise.

  4.

I have been gaming since l was 10 years old when my parents bought me an old retro game console. In those days it was popular and everyone in my neighborhood had it. I used to play every single day until it broke 1 year and a half due to electrical problems. My parents then bought me a Gameboy which was more portable and l would go out and share with my neighbors while we were hanging. I did like my Gameboy but it didn’t last long too, since it was made of plastic and it would break pieces by pieces when dropped accidentally. I would get a new Gameboy after another like a pair of underwear every time it broke. Since then l changed to computer games since they do not break as often and are more powerful than my old retro game consoles. I would want a new game console like Xbox or PS4 so that l can share with my little sibling in the living room where we have a nice flat screen tv. It would be nice to play two people instead of one person in the computer, plus l can use a new console to entertain guests in the house.

  5. I was introduced to video games as a toddler, watching my uncles play as a yellow, ghost-dodging eating machine. That game, of course, was PacMan on the Atari 2600, the first game I ever played. As I look back at the beginnings of this hobby – from its humble roots to where it is now – I’m amazed at how far we’ve gone. Gaming is huge; eSports sells arenas and starts careers. And it’s largely because of dedicated gamers who continued to play games into their 30s and beyond.

As someone who fits in this demographic, I am proud to have been there throughout gaming’s evolution, and I can’t wait to share my love for gaming with the next generation. I sold my PS4 before my daughter was born 4 months ago, but if she ever wants to become a pro gamer, I would be the first person to coach her, her first couch co-op partner, her first multiplayer rival, and eventually her biggest supporter and fan.

People have said that traditional console gaming is dying; that mobile gaming is the future.  But for as long as there’s competition, collaboration, couches and coaches, console gaming is here to stay. Game on!

  6. I have been gaming since I was 11 yrs old when my parents were finally able to buy me a gameboy advance sp which was a big deal because I knew even then that money was tight. I knew that real consoles like the old xbox and ps2 were already out by then but I was so happy just to have a gaming device of my own. I played with that gameboy almost everyday on road trips and famil events. It was the first time that gaming became this new “hobby” of mine play megaman battle network and dragonball z games based on shows I’d watched on tv. I was still the new kid in my neighbourhood and kids weren’t really accepting of me. Being an only child and the new kid really isolated me but I found escape in gaming. The saddest day was when 2 yrs later I dropped my gameboy and the screen shattered and I could never play with it again. Once my parents were able to they finally got me an xbox which by then was ancient as the ps3 and xbox 360 were being released I played an incredible sci fi game of halo and it really made sci fi an all time favourite genre I could ever hope to love. The older I got I was given a ps3 which is where I learned about the console wars. Ironic when gaming became a type of virual war. Luck was on my side as I learned most of my classmates also played on ps3 but playing multiplayer was news to me because at the time I didn’t know that xbox live was a paid subscription while ps4 had free online psn. I loved playing Uncharted for the first time since I grew up watching Indiana Jones movies with my dad. It was also when I played a Call of Duty game which opened my eyes to FPS games. I’m almost 23 now and have held on to my ps3 for almost a decade and that sucker is still going strong. I’d love to have a new console to my family since games for the old consoles are dying. I have a ps4 which I had just recieved this christmas but I’d always miss playing Halo 1 and 2 on xbox so that have an Xbox one would allow me to be the peace maker between my xbox friends and my playstation friends and show them we can all live in harmoney with the PC gamers Smiley Tongue

  7. I could really use a new gaming system my xbox360 is about 10 years old,and is my first gaming system and is on its last legs, and I would really love to have a system that could play the new gears of war 4,that game series is one of my favourite the game play is great, but even better than that the story is incredible,I am really drawn towards great story driven games I love Hitman ,tomb raider loved the one a few years back and would love to play the new one, batman ,and also call of duty ,I love all these in single player mode I am not much of an online player, just not good enough to compete against people on line I’m usually dead in about 3 seconds,I still remember the first gears of war the end scene on the railroad car I tried for days to finish it,just could not do it finally went on line and some 13 year old kid finally helped me finish the game, thank god for kids skipping school.well thanks for the chance to win a new system, thanks Best Buy you always carry great stuff,I love your DVD that come with movie money it’s a great way to add to my DVD collection and save at the movie theatre.good luck to everybody

  8. I have been gaming since l was very young. First I got a Coleco than the orignal nintendo.

I then moved to super NES and finally got a Playstation. I had such a blast on Gran Turismo.

Afterwards, I did a midnight launch line up to get the orignal Xbox and loved Halo.

Then went on a PS2 for Call of Duty and PS3 as well and finally got a Xbox One for a change.

Now I wish I got a PS4 so I can relive some of the best Playstation game with my playstation friends.

It would be great to win a PS4 so I can play Uncharted and replay God of War.

  9. I’ve been gaming for a good chunk of my life, ever since I was about eight. It all started out with a dainty little Nintendo console, and for about six years after that I finally played on an Xbox console and it was so unreal that consoles like that actually exists. I played Halo combat evolved and I was just dying with excitement, the game brought me excitement like I have never experienced before since all I ever played was kid friendly Nintendo games, so it was really new in general. About playing that on co-op mode with never ending fun, two years passed and the Xbox 360 came out and I had no idea this existed either until I came to visit my cousin and saw a game called GTA IV on the screen, so it was at that point that I had to beg my mom to get me an Xbox 360 and for Christmas I ended up getting the Halo 3 Legendary edition and an Xbox 360. It brought tears to my eyes, I took never ending care of it until one day it finally gave out and got the red ring of death. It only took until a year ago that I finally got an Xbox One and it’s starting to run out of memory, and growing into an adult came hard on me so I ended up just keeping it, but too poor to buy any games for it. If I were to win another console I would probably give this one to a family member or good friend, so that he may enjoy the Xbox One as well.

  10. I’ve been gaming since the 90s. I started by playing Atari, Nintendo and Sega. My favourite games were and still are Pong, Super Mario and Sonic. I also enjoy playing sports games like FIFA and NHL. My newest gaming console is the original Wii and I beat the first Super Mario Galaxy on it and enjoy playing the sports games on it like the various Mario and Sonic Olympic games and Wii Sports. I also enjoy playing Mario Go Kart with my family on my Wii. Gaming is something I’ve been doing since a little kid. I also started by playing computer games like another classic by the name of Lemmings. I need a new gaming console because I don’t have one of the newest consoles for any of the makers and would enjoy broadening my gaming experience and adding to my classic consoles. I also would like to try out the new sports games that are coming out with all of the new technology and the virtual gaming being developed. Winning a new console would help me especially with the prices they sell for and would allow me to buy games that I wouldn’t have been able to otherwise.

  11. I’ve been gaming since I was 5 around 93 My father bought a Super Nintendo. I remember the day walking into radio shack and having no idea what he was buying a few hours later playing my very first game Super Mario World. Now him being a PC guy and owning an atari when it was originally released he actually never played the SNES and left it only to me and my sister. We played that for hours every night mostly just playing Paper Boy. We would then spend weeks trying to beat super ghouls and ghosts but never making it past the last level.

Now why I need a new gaming console? I miss playing with my sister. She moved to Colorado when she got married and we haven’t been able to play anything together because her husband is an Xbox guy and I’m a Nintendo/PC gamer. I’d love to win an xbox one to beable to play some coop games with my sister again like when we were little spending hours a night just tossing papers at houses and trying to see who broke the most windows. And now that my nephew is getting into gaming it would give me a chance to play with him as well.

I wish everyone luck and hopefully we all get what we want announced at E3!
