Many Canadians are looking at upgrading their laptops and televisions this fall. On the blog, we have been trying you find the right tech for your home with articles about the top laptops and the top televisions. We also have contests! Earlier this month we gave away some of the top laptops of the year. Now we are giving away two of the top televisions. Learn about the new Samsung TVs, then enter for a chance to win.
Why you should be looking at Samsung TVs in 2023
Have you looked at the range of TVs on display at a Best Buy store these days? I have. Impressive. Almost all of them are LED TVs, though there are a range of types of LED TVs. In the store your eyes will first be drawn to the stunning Samsung Frame TVs. We gave one of these away earlier this year on the blog. Then you’ll look at some of the other types of LEDs and, if you are like most people, you’ll be confused by the terms: OLED, QLED, and Neo QLED. All three are great. All three do some things better than other things. For example, OLEDs have the best blacks thanks to individual self-lighting pixels. QLED has the best brightness (great for bright rooms) thanks to the backlighting. Neo QLEDs are the best combination thanks to their arrays of mini-LED backlighting. Samsung QLED and Neo QLEDs have other advantages too including lower costs.
You can learn about both types of Samsung televisions on the blog. We recently asked Shelly, the blog Editor for home theatre, to review the two televisions that we are giving away in this contest. Read her review of the new Samsung Q70C 4K UHD HDR QLED Smart TV and her review of the Samsung QN90C 4K UHD HDR Neo QLED Tizen Smart TV to learn more about each of the prizes we are giving away in this contest.
Why do you want a new TV this fall
Each year, the fall season seems to usher in not just pumpkin spice lattes and sweater weather, but also a surge in people bringing home new TV sets. Here are the top two reasons why:
1. New models and clearance sales
Television manufacturers often release new models in the spring and summer so by fall, these new releases have had time to be reviewed so you know which ones to buy. This not only help you make more informed decisions but also puts pressure on retailers to clear out older inventory to make room for the next generation of models. So whether you are looking for the best new TVs or last year’s models at significant savings, this is the best time of year.
2. Ready for holiday entertainment and sports events
The fall season is a precursor to major holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Eve, all of which are synonymous with family gatherings and home entertainment. People anticipate needing a better or bigger TV to host movie marathons, special broadcasts, and, of course, holiday specials. Additionally, fall is a significant season for sports with the NFL, NBA, and NHL seasons bringing excitement into our homes. The lure of watching big games and key matchups on a shiny new screen can be hard to resist.
Fall is a perfect storm of incentives; it’s the season not just for falling leaves but also for finding the perfect new TV for your home on television sets. And it’s the perfect time for us to have a contest giving two of the newest and best TVs away.
How to enter
Entering this contest is easy and you can in three different ways (once per method):
- In a comment below, tell us at least two reasons why you would like a new TV this fall, and what two shows are you most looking forward to watching if you win this contest.
- In a comment beneath Shelly’s review of the Q70C, tell us one thing you learned about that television from Shelly’s review, and let us know what your ideal TV size would be for your home.
- In a comment beneath Shelly’s review of the QN90C, tell us how many hours of TV get watched in your home, and one thing that you learned about this television from Shelly’s review.
What you can win
At the end of this contest, we will randomly draw two winners. One will receive the Samsung QN90C TV that Shelly reviewed and the other will receive the Samsung Q70C TV that Shelly reviewed.
This contest runs from Sept 15th to Oct 1st.
Remember you can enter in three different ways. You might also want to tell your friends about this contest. As I said, this is the time of year when many people get a new TV, and some of your friends may be very happy to learn about the new Samsung TVs and have a chance to win one too.

Good luck!
I have had my tv since 2015 and it still works but showing signs it is near the end of its life as well as I moved last year to a larger area and my tv is now just a little too small to watch from my couch
The two reasons why I would love the new TV this fall is first my bedroom tv is old so picture quality is subpar to say the least so I’m really missing out on the quality tv experience I could be getting with a new tv and second my older tv has like one HDMI connection and it’s incredibly awkward and inaccessible drives me nuts! And this season my hubby will have us watching walking dead Daryl Dixon I’m looking forward to the new long-awaited season of true Detective finally!
My mom suffered a stroke in her eye and as a result has obstructed vision. A QLED TV with that kind of clarity would really help her watch all of her Prime TV content. The bluetooth feature will be great to connect to headphones for privacy. As for shows I look forward to watching. My AppleTV content, Prime content and Netflix.
I would love a new TV because it will become an opportunity to bring family and friends together and watch movies, TV shows and host game night. Chance everyone to participate in those activities together.
If i was to win, two shows I’m looking forward to watching on this TV are Lupin – Part 3 and The Continental: From The World of John Wick.
Would love to win a new SAMSUNG TV to replace our very old TV that is giving us problems. Would love to watch NHL hockey and CFL football all fall and winter on a high quality TV. Thank you.
My 60″ TV just went completely black , I have a 32″ but at my age it is very hard to see it and I just cannot afford a new 1 right now. I watch TV about 12 hrs a day and would love to be able to watch on a TV I can see. Thank you
It’s larger and has a better display solution than my current one!
Reasons for Wanting a New TV This Fall and Shows to Watch:
I would love to upgrade to a new TV this fall for two main reasons. Firstly, with the upcoming holiday season, I want to create an immersive home entertainment experience for my family and friends during gatherings. Secondly, I’m an avid sports fan, and I’m eagerly looking forward to watching the NFL and NBA games in stunning detail and clarity if I win this contest.
Shelly’s Review of the Q70C:
After reading Shelly’s review of the Q70C, I learned that this television offers impressive HDR quality, which is perfect for enhancing the viewing experience of my favorite movies and shows. My ideal TV size for my home would be 55 inches, providing an immersive yet space-efficient setup.
TV Viewing Habits and Learning from Shelly’s Review of the QN90C:
In my home, we watch approximately 20 hours of TV per week. From Shelly’s review of the QN90C, I discovered that this television has a Tizen Smart TV platform, which is great for accessing a wide range of streaming apps and content. This would be perfect for my family’s varied entertainment preferences.
Thank you for the opportunity to participate in your contest and potentially win one of the top Samsung TVs for an enhanced home entertainment experience this fall!
I would love to win a new TV this fall for a couple of reasons. Firstly, my current TV is quite old and doesn’t have the latest features. A new TV would allow me and my family to enjoy our favorite shows and movies in stunning detail and vibrant colors. Secondly, I’ve been saving up to buy a new TV, but winning one would be a fantastic surprise! If I win this contest, I’m most looking forward to watching two shows: ‘Stranger Things’ and ‘Game of Thrones’. Both shows have captivating storylines and amazing visual effects that would be even more immersive on a high-quality TV.
In response to Shelly’s review of the Q70C, one thing I learned about this television is that it has excellent picture quality with vibrant colors and deep blacks . My ideal TV size for my home would be around 65-75 inches. It’s large enough to provide an immersive viewing experience.
Regarding Shelly’s review of the QN90C, we watch around 5-6 hours of TV per day in our home. One thing I learned about this television from Shelly’s review is that it has an impressive anti-glare screen, which is great for reducing reflections and ensuring a clear view from any angle.
This is a high tech tv and picture is very clear
We would love to have a tv in our guest bedroom for when friends come over or nights we feel like falling asleep to a movie
My current tv has a smaller screen and as i age a bigger screen would be great!
My TV is about 15 years old. I think a new one would have better definition. I want to watch SURVIVIOR and AMAZING RACE.
I’d love a new TV for the better picture quality and advanced smart features (which my current older TV does not have). A couple of shows I’m looking forward to this fall is the second season of Our Flag Means Death, and the new season of Fargo.
My current TV is old. The picture is fading and the sound from the speakers are losing its sharpness. A new Samsung TV would give a much better experience with the picture quality from in watching my favorite shows: Hudson and Rex and FBI: International.
The first reason why I would like a new TV: I am finally moving out on my own next month into a condo and I need a television! I have been researching for the best TV I can buy within my budget and I happened to come across this contest, I feel like it’s a sign!
The second reason is that I have never owned a 4k HDR television and would love to finally experience shows in this format! I feel like I have been missing out on the way new shows are meant to be seen.
As a huge John Wick fan, I am super excited for The Continental series coming this fall, and also one of my favourite books “All The Light We Cannot See” has been adapted to a series which premieres in November that I cannot wait to watch on a new television!
It’s larger and has better colour than my existing one
And two tv shows …? I don’t know which are coming out on Netflix but I’d definitely re watch peaky blinders and money heist
My current TV is old. A new Samsung TV would give a much better experience in watching my favorite shows: Hudson and Rex and FBI: International.
Now I’m on disability have more time than I’d like , so would look forward to watching blue bloods and deadliest catch. Thanks and hope to be picked .
The first reason why I would like a new TV this fall; my current television is getting old and outdated. The second reason would be that winning a New Samsung QLED TV would surely cheer me up and bring together the living room quite nicely.
My two shows that I’m most looking forward to watching if you win this contest is Netflix and Crave movies
The main reason I would love this Samsung TV is because it is time to replace my current TV, and Samsung is the best choice. Without a doubt, I would watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy to christen the new TV, and then watch Titanic for the great picture. 😀
I’d love a new TV that would be larger than the one we have and have better colour. 2 show that i look forward to watching are Transplant and The Voice
It’s a lot newer & bigger than my 1080 tv and 4k too. Will watch “One Piece” & “Stranger Things” on Netflix.
I would love a new TV, our “smart” tv is kind of a lemon. It is supposed to be a smart tv, but even after having a tech out to upgrade some of the guts, it connects when it wants. We spend more time trying to connect to streaming services that actually watching them. Time to upgrade. A couple of shows we are looking forward to watching are Ahsoka and the Orville!
Would love a new TV for some great HDR gaming and a 4K picture would be great for watching hockey this season
Looking forward to Hockey season this fall and also the new season of Loki
The colour on my present TV fades quite a lot if looked at beyond a certain angle, so I’d like a wider viewing angle on my next TV. A slightly larger TV would also be nice.
I’m looking forward to watching “Blue Bloods” and “Brooklyn Nine Nine”.
I am looking for a new 4K TV to replace my old 1080p 55” tv. The shows I would plan to watch on this new TV would be:
1) Ahsoka
2) Last of Us Season 2
id love a new tv to put in my bedroom. i’ve never had a tv in my bedroom in my entire life so this would be amazing…
im looking forward to hockey season and basketball season on TV.
the fact the Samsung Q70C NeoQLED TV is thin and light, measuring only 26 mm (1 inch) wide and so light means that i could probably handle and set it up myself!!!!
I would use it to watch game shows
A new TV would offer better picture quality, resolution, and screen size, enhancing my overall viewing experience. Many new TVs come with advanced smart features that allow easy access to streaming services, voice commands, and seamless connectivity with other devices, making it more convenient to enjoy a variety of content. I will watch ”Stranger Things” and ”The Mandalorian”
First – I do not own a television. Too busy working.
Secondly – I missed The Mandalorian Season 1 & 2.
Thirdly – I got plenty of space in my living room.
I’d love a new TV because, 1) mine is technologically obsolete, and 2) mine doesn’t always work. I am looking forward to watching the latest season of The Morning Show, and The Golden Bachelor!
Well, our 55 inch tv is neither smart nor new – I think it’s at least 10 years old. So that’s one reason we’d love a new one. Another is that we watch WAY too much tv so it’s all about watching on the tv, not computer/ipad, for us. I’m looking forward to watching the Blue Jays in the World Series ( ha ha) and Outlander when it returns. Fingers crossed
We finished building our rec room in the basement a couple of years ago. We bought a media unit to place a nice-sized television on. The unit looks great, but the television, which was one that we had, looks like a postage stamp on it.
Hockey season is quickly approaching, and Samsung QLED is a huge upgrade at this address.
I moved into this home last fall and finished the family room this month. I need a tv to watch in this new room. Would like to see programs of the curse of oak island and big sky. Thanks
Reason one is that my television isn’t even smart and the second reason is that it’s not QLED.
I’m looking forward to watching Indéfendable & Mégantic.

The shows we are looking forward are:
NCIS- Can’t wait to see what they have in store for us.
The Mandolorian ” Season 3″ Really love the character Baby Yoda
I would love a new television as my current one is too small for the area and reason two… i would just like a new one. With the writers and actors strike ongoing, new shows i’m looking forward to are limited… but i’d like to see new Ghosts and Mandalorian.
I’d like a new TV this season so that I can have a TV in my bedroom, and to improve the picture quality of the TV in my living room (new TV would go to the living room, and the living room TV would move to my bedroom.
Two things I’m looking forward to watching include the NHL (Go Oilers!) and the Mandalorian.
I’d love a new TV for the new tech in the screens and the much better smart TV functionality. Hockey Night in Canada and NFL sundays would dominate screen time,

Would love a new TV to bring together my family and to upgrade the old one. Looking forward to watching Loki and Abbott Elementary!
I would like a new tv as mine in the basement is starting to cut in and out.
Would like to watch the NHL season just as it starts in the fall.
We are updating our basement and a new TV would be great: 1) we need a TV for that space, and 2) finishing the basement is way more expensive than we anticipated. I’m looking forward to watching Tennis and F1 on our new big-screen TV.
I am still using a projection tv that ways a ton and is huge ,so i really need a new tv. I love reality shows like Survivor and Amazing race.
