Home theatre projectors are one of my favourite technologies. I love going to the movies. Projectors bring that experience into your home to enjoy whenever you want. You can choose to mount it to create a designated theatre room, or you can keep it mobile so one day it’s in the living room for a movie, the next day in the basement for gaming, or in the kids room for a sleep over. Find out for yourself; enter this contest and you might win the amazing BenQ Cinehome 4K UHD HDR home theatre projector.
How amazing is the BenQ 4K projector
This is probably something that many people are wondering. We asked Erin Lawrence, Editor of Home Theatre on the blog and also a veteran of television news with CTV in Calgary, to try this projector and give us her honest opinion.
(NOTE: whenever we send out products for review we expect the writers to give their honest opinion so our customers know what to expect when they get the product to their home.)
In her written review and video review, Erin highly endorsed this projector. Here are some of the highlights of her review:
- The picture was amazing, despite her not having a white wall or a projection screen as a backdrop. (She actually projected it onto a blue wall and still she thought the image was great!)
- The image was bright, clear and showed accurate, crisp colours, even when the room was brightly lit.
- The fan (something that used to drive me crazy on an older projector I once had in my home) was barely noticeable and did not take away from the enjoyment of using this projector.
She also pointed out some of the things that people will consider adding to their home to make the experience even better.
How would you improve your own home theatre experience
Okay so let’s just suppose that you were the winner of this contest. Picture that! Where will you place it in your home? Would you mount it on the ceiling, or keep it mobile so you can move it from room to room?
Importantly, what technology would you need to make the home theatre experience truly complete? I’m not talking about a popcorn maker: that’s a given! Would you be looking to add a projection screen, or would you just choose a white wall (or paint a wall white for this best results). Would you look at getting a surround sound or ATMOS system ?Erin said that the sound from the projector is okay, but your home theatre would be much better with great home theatre audio. Would you add a 4K blu-ray player and start collecting a library of 4K movies to show on this 4K projector?
There are so many possibilities, and I didn’t even talk about home theatre seating. What would you consider adding to your home if you win this amazing projector?
HOW TO ENTER
Entering this contest is really easy but you can only enter once. First imagine that you did win this contest (Visualization is the first step toward making something a reality!). Next think about the things you will need to create a perfect 4K home theatre experience in your home. I listed some possibilities above. In a comment below, tell us what you would love to add to your home if you won this projector.
WHAT YOU CAN WIN
At the end of this contest we will draw one entry from all of the eligible entries submitted. That person will win the BenQ Cinehome 4K UHD HDR home theatre projector that Erin Lawrence reviewed.
This contest will run from February 12th until February 26th.
Remember you can only enter once, but we have many contests running at Best Buy this month so keep returning to the blog and enter them all to increase your chances of winning something from Best Buy this year. Also, tell your family that you want to watch movies on this projector so they should enter too!
Good luck.

id likr to try a projet tv
Surround sound would make a big impact I would install this in my basement rec room so would want to add some reclining sectional seating and a second row 8 in her riser
I would need a 60″ 4K television, 4 wireless speakers, this amazing projector of course, and some comfortable reclining couches and chairs! Oh, yes, and a theater style popcorn maker! 🙂
Large drop down screen with theatre seating
sectioal couch
projection screen and speakers for the basement
This would be a BIG hit with the kids! The most awesome movie nights ever!
I would replace my television in the basement family room with this projector, along with a motorized screen. The projector would allow for a much larger image without sacrificing detail and image quality.
I think this projector will pair very well with the Onkyo HT-S5800 925-Watt 5.1.2-Channel Dolby Atmos Home Theatre Speaker System, Sony 4K UHD Wi-Fi Blu-ray Player, and at least 5 4k movies to start off my library…. I’ve been also eyeing out the black Broadway Bonded Leather Power Recliner Home Theatre Seat as an option for that empty corner in my new place… I need my own PlayStation as well, so the Sony PS4 PlayStation 4 Console Limited Edition Uncharted with DualShock 4 wireless controller is a given.
I’ll grab a new snuggie as well… Already got my popcorn machine :D!
And what’s all that without a rockin’ housewarming party and weekend’s movie nights with my best friends?
I would add a screen to project onto and surround sound! Thanks for the chance!
ummm – some super comfy recliner chairs would be perfect- thanks for the chance to win! 🙂
a sectional couch
Basement seating and lights would be perfect!
I’d have to upgrade my gaming system to a 4K capable system.
This is such a great addition to tight spaces, any wall can be a viewing area and it can be easily moved to a different wall.
The playoffs will always be at my place!
We would like to have a 4K blue ray player to go with the projector
I would add a home theater receiver and speakers.
So I can capture my families memories. Lost my mom and my kids grandmother my kids and I have been so lost. We wish we could here her laugh smile and just see her soon. We can’t bring those memories back but we can create our own, so if this happens to any of us we have those memories on video.
Basement theatre room.
I’ve actually been dreaming up my dream living room for awhile now, and it has most of the things you mentioned: big speakers, a 4k blu ray player, an AV receiver, a big projector screen . . One more thing I’d add would be a computer or video game console to turn the projector into a big screen gaming experience!
better computer that can actually output 4k content…
I would use it outside in the summer
recliners with drink holders and such
Just what I need in my big room.
Heated massage recliners
New Couches
Full home theatre set up. Been debating on one for some time. Always said I would be my perfect excuse to upgrade the mancave to a mini theatre.
I’d love to actually use a projector to help with wall art murals! Tracing out patterns!
Ok…lets see…a nice wall-sized screen, popcorn maker, blu-ray player, a few very cold beers, and a copy of the original Bladerunner!!
A nice screen to project on to.
if I won the projector I would definitely have to invest in a worthy screen! followed by speakers.
A home, a a couch, a rug and a heater. Oh and a cat!
A home
I would add some new flooring to the family room so the popcorn would be easier to sweep up, but not commit to using it only there…If it were a mobile unit, I could enjoy it in multiple settings!
Got the projection screen, got the popcorn maker, need to upgrade to the Atmos system!
Comfy recliners ! My kids love it a lot !
Popcorn maker
i would buy a new chesterfield
I think I would add a sectional couch that folds out into a bed along with a mini fridge.
I would add a projection screen and 2 large comfy recliners. I can picture myself and a guest watching great movies on the projector. Would be awesome to win. Thank you.
A really cosy recliner and a side table for snacks and drinks.
Movie night with grandkids and popcorn!
I would add some new comfy sofas.
Reclining seats to watch the movie comfortably from! And a popcorn maker… what’s a movie without popcorn??
My daughter would like this. She would add a projection screen and surround sound speakers and some comfortable seating and a snack station.
A projector !
I want it!
a large projection screen for the living room (:
I am looking for a new projector to replace my old one recently. I can’t live without it because I use it to watch movies and play games.
comfy recliners for the whole family
I would add a projection screen
