Defender has a long tradition of making high quality home security cameras that are affordable for home owners. I recently tested two Defender systems on the Best Buy Blog and was impressed with the ease of setup and the high-quality video captured by these devices. Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy, the Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera, and we have two to give away in this contest.

Defender security cameras deliver great value for homeowners

As Editor-in-Chief on the blog, I get many of the main brands of security cameras on my desk and have tested most of them myself. I have to say that Best Buy does have a great selection of home security cameras, and the Defender brand is right up there with the best for how easy they are to set up and use, and how great the image quality is.

Defender 4K wired cameraI have reviewed two different types of Defender systems on the blog. One of these was a wired system with four 4k cameras that all connected to a DVR. I pointed out scenarios where this type of system might be a homeowner’s best bet for great security. I also showed the steps for setting it up and getting the most from that system.

Defender Wireless 2K cameraThe second Defender system that I reviewed was a 2k wireless outdoor camera. That camera is easier to install than a wired system, as it sends the video stream over the internet. It shares a very key feature with the other system that I reviewed though: it does not require any additional fees for cloud storage (something many other camera systems do require). That means once you pay for the camera, you do not have to pay for anything else to use the camera and get maximum security benefits (you do need home internet, but I’m assuming most people have that these days).

New Defender Guard Camera will be perfect for most homeowners

As I said at the beginning, Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy. The Defender Guard Wireless 2K Camera shares many of the features with the 2k camera that I recently reviewed. It too has on-camera storage via a 16GB microSD card (expandable to 128GB). It has the same great video quality that I described in my review too, with incredible 16x zoom and crystal clear night vision. The camera will even record the voices and sounds of people being recorded. Crystal clear video and audio will be great tools to help identify who was on your property, or what animal knocked over the garbage bins—animal issues are a big concern around my home!

Check out the information section on the product page to learn about some of its other great features, like a wide field of view, IP67 ratings providing resistance to all forms of weather, etc.

What are your security concerns that could be addressed with a Defender security camera? Enter this contest and you may soon be able to take care of them if you win one of these prizes. And if you don’t win, well, Defender cameras are reasonably priced, and once you buy one, you will not be paying any additional fees for video storage.

How to enter

Entering this contest is really easy, but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what security concerns around your home you would like to address if you win a Defender camera in this contest.

What you can win

At the end of this contest we will select two winners from all eligible entries. Each winner will receive a Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera.

This contest runs from September 27th until October 14th.

Remember, you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to install a new security camera around their home. Perhaps their neighbourhood has seen some break-ins recently. Perhaps a camera can bring them some peace of mind. Share this contest article with them so they too have a chance to win.

  1. This would be good for peace of mind. I imagine though I will get lots of footage of raccoons fighting one another and mamma raccoons and her brood. Maybe I can make a documentary!

  2. Having to park vehicles in the driveway, a security system likes this could act as a deterrent or catch perpetrators.

  3. We have had furniture stolen off of our deck. A Defender wireless home security camera from Best Buy would help address our concerns of future theft.

  4. I am home alone on and off and I would like to see who is at the door before answering and also when we go away it’s nice to know who has been around the house if anyone. Lots of crazy stuff goes on in this town and around us and this may make us feel safer.

  5. Wife’s car got hit when she was parked on the street…likely our neighbour but no way to know for sure. This system would of helped.

  6. We have had a lot of car break ins in the neighbourhood. It would be nice to have a camera near our driveway

  7. Drug addiction is on the rise in our town so individuals have been breaking into homes to try to sell goods to get cash for drugs. Hopefully with this is we can feel a bit protected. Thanks for the chance to win

  8. WE live on a farm in the country. There are getting to many daylight hour breakins in the area. 2 last week. It is frightining. Love to have a Defender to go with our home alarm system

  9. I am concerned as we have a long driveway in the front of the house and quite a bit of exposure to other neighbours in the back.

  10. I would have to say my Security concern is the area I live in, I really don’t trust it. I guess, you are where you life. I would just like the added security knowing there is something watching them.. Thanks

  11. I would love to see who is at our door before opening it, and I would also like to know if someone is on our property while we’re out. Thanks for the chance to win this awesome camera!

  12. We live on a dead end road in the country. This would make me feel safer and I am also interested in knowing what wild life is eating out of my garden.

  13. Unfortunately sign of the times: Our neighbors garage’s were broken into twice. We remain untouched until 3 weeks ago. Culprits kicked a hole in our garage door (in the back), entered: Stole our teenage son’s bike/helmet and a rubbermaid container of my husband’s Iron Rigging gear. To add insult to injury exited by side door – left wood splinters along our cobble lane and left our gate open. What a *sick feeling* of being violated. Hence, a security camera overlooking our back yard and garage would be an absolute blessing.

  14. Definitely the front of the house. Cars parked on the driveways, even though locked, seem to be a target for thieves. This might be a small deterent. Thanks for the chance.

  15. Crime and break ins, especially in garages has been a growing concern in our city and neighbourhoods and we would love to have a Defender here I help us feel safer.
