Defender has a long tradition of making high quality home security cameras that are affordable for home owners. I recently tested two Defender systems on the Best Buy Blog and was impressed with the ease of setup and the high-quality video captured by these devices. Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy, the Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera, and we have two to give away in this contest.

Defender security cameras deliver great value for homeowners

As Editor-in-Chief on the blog, I get many of the main brands of security cameras on my desk and have tested most of them myself. I have to say that Best Buy does have a great selection of home security cameras, and the Defender brand is right up there with the best for how easy they are to set up and use, and how great the image quality is.

Defender 4K wired cameraI have reviewed two different types of Defender systems on the blog. One of these was a wired system with four 4k cameras that all connected to a DVR. I pointed out scenarios where this type of system might be a homeowner’s best bet for great security. I also showed the steps for setting it up and getting the most from that system.

Defender Wireless 2K cameraThe second Defender system that I reviewed was a 2k wireless outdoor camera. That camera is easier to install than a wired system, as it sends the video stream over the internet. It shares a very key feature with the other system that I reviewed though: it does not require any additional fees for cloud storage (something many other camera systems do require). That means once you pay for the camera, you do not have to pay for anything else to use the camera and get maximum security benefits (you do need home internet, but I’m assuming most people have that these days).

New Defender Guard Camera will be perfect for most homeowners

As I said at the beginning, Defender just released a new camera at Best Buy. The Defender Guard Wireless 2K Camera shares many of the features with the 2k camera that I recently reviewed. It too has on-camera storage via a 16GB microSD card (expandable to 128GB). It has the same great video quality that I described in my review too, with incredible 16x zoom and crystal clear night vision. The camera will even record the voices and sounds of people being recorded. Crystal clear video and audio will be great tools to help identify who was on your property, or what animal knocked over the garbage bins—animal issues are a big concern around my home!

Check out the information section on the product page to learn about some of its other great features, like a wide field of view, IP67 ratings providing resistance to all forms of weather, etc.

What are your security concerns that could be addressed with a Defender security camera? Enter this contest and you may soon be able to take care of them if you win one of these prizes. And if you don’t win, well, Defender cameras are reasonably priced, and once you buy one, you will not be paying any additional fees for video storage.

How to enter

Entering this contest is really easy, but you can only enter once. In a comment below, tell us what security concerns around your home you would like to address if you win a Defender camera in this contest.

What you can win

At the end of this contest we will select two winners from all eligible entries. Each winner will receive a Defender Guard Indoor/Outdoor IP Camera.

This contest runs from September 27th until October 14th.

Remember, you can only enter once. However, you probably know someone who would love to install a new security camera around their home. Perhaps their neighbourhood has seen some break-ins recently. Perhaps a camera can bring them some peace of mind. Share this contest article with them so they too have a chance to win.

  1. Two main reasons why I really need a Defender.
    1. Weather..I am always checking the weather at my cottage before I leave the city.
    2. Property…I want to monitor or property for theft. Our neighbour had his snowmobiles stolen during the day…

  2. I would like to monitor the grounds around my home for animal activity. Our home is in cottage country and there was a cougar poking in my neighbours blue box last year. I’m concerned for my dog that I let out to go to the bathroom…I would like to be able to check the area before he goes out (also check the area before I go out). There have also been a lot of Fischers in the area (they are like dangerous weasels). I didn’t even know we had alot of Fischers in the area until my neighbour with a security camera alerted us to the fact. I could really use this Defender.

  3. I want a camera on or in my garage that has loft space.

I am starting to put a couple items of small value up there to start a man cave or family rec room and I don’t want people breaking in or not having proof of a theft.

I’d appreciate a camera and hang it and a servelience sticker with pride.

  4. I moved from an apartment in high crime area in Ontario to a quiet suburb in Newfoundland.

Tell me how my car gets hit in my drive way, mid day and we are at the end of a street, top a hill, no exit but plenty of drive way to turn around before you turn the corner a bit to park closer to the house and garage (which is where my car was).

Only person known to be on my drive way was the post man that day as a parcel slip was left on the door knib. But mom said no one ever knocked and we own 3 dogs that didn’t spaz out ( no one ever knocked or rang the doorbell).

No proof but I have $1500 worth of damage to my car and I would like to install a camera because such a remote suburb area; we only have the one home delivery rep and my mom is disabled and home bound. I want to protect the car and her but feel safe IF we have deliveries or if she makes any online shipments.

Maybe it wasn’t them, but no one else ever comes up here.

I want to be ready for next time……

  5. It would be nice to have a camera to ensure that thieves don’t steal packages once delivered to my front door

  6. We had a break in several years ago and even with motion lights – I feel a camera might be a wiser choice to deter burglars and perhaps even identify miscreants.

  7. My security concern is being able to tell if anyone is on our property while I am at work or if our teenage children are home alone. These cameras would be wonderful.

  8. I am a girl moving to a new city alone and would love to be able to feel safe in my new house with my fur pets 🙂

  9. I too , would use this to see packages delivered-oh, and the bears spreading my garbage on the street.

  10. I would love to install this at my parents’ house as that’s my absolute biggest security concern right now as I live away from them. I’m never sure what happens at their place and they don’t have their own security system. I would install it in the back yard or smack in the middle of the living room.

  11. I would use it at my front door to see all the activity not only at my front door but on the sidewalk/street as well

  12. My house is on a corner lot with our driveway back from the house. We’ve been broken into a couple times due to our location. A visible security system would be a deterrent and give us evidence if something happens again.

  13. We live in a small area that is surrounded by trees, so that the front of our house is not visible from the street. Also it is very dark as there are no street lights.

  14. This Defender Security would be piece of mind for when we are away or when home alone when hubby working long hours in the field!

  15. The main security issue that would be greatly elevated with the use of the Defender is personal safety. Unfortunately, I’ve had to obtain a restraining order against my ex and yet he still manipulated our young child into showing him the whereabouts of our new home. I’d love to invest in a dependable surveillance system to ease my son’s and my own anxieties when the finances become available.

  16. We have punks breaking into sheds and cars up and down our street regularly so this would be a handy tool to catch them.

  17. I have no windows on the back of my house so a camera would let me view my garage and parking area.
