As the snow melts away across much of Canada, many of us start thinking about what’s under all that white stuff. The grass will be green and the flowers sprouting soon enough and golfers everywhere are starting to think about getting out for the first time this season.
Find great golf gear at Best Buy
After you dust off the golf bag, polish up the clubs and take inventory of tees and balls, you might realize you need to do some shopping. Check out some of the newest gear that you might want to add to your golf arsenal this year.
Zepp 3D swing analyzer
Everyone can use some help with their game. The Zepp Golf 2 swing analyzer (photo above) attaches to any golf glove and connects wirelessly to your smartphone then snaps over 1000 data points per second to supply you with instant stats. Once you’ve got the info, the app shares smart coaching and training tips from real golf pros.
The Zepp Golf 2 swing analyzer can check your club speed, club plane, tempo, backswing length, hand speed, and more, all to help improve your swing, and hopefully your game.
Garmin TruSwing club sensor
Navigation and GPS giants Garmin have also made a gadget to help your game. Garmin’s TruSwing golf club sensor measures critical metrics that affect ball flight and shot results. The sensor sends data to your mobile device, letting you analyze your swing at the range or on the course.
Check and improve swing tempo, speed, club path, club angles, and more to help improve your form and overall consistency. Plus this club sensor is water-resistant and dustproof.
Garmin Approach S6 golf watch
Pair the Garmin Club sensor with the Garmin Approach S6 GPS golf watch. With a tonne of info jammed into a small watch, you’ll get over 30,000 international (and full-colour) course views with hole by hole details. The built-in SwingStrength feature also lets you know how hard you hit each club so you can train yourself to swing more consistently.
The course view feature also has manual pin positioning to help you quickly find precise yardage and direction, and Garmin offers free lifetime course updates for existing courses and is always adding new courses to the database.
Garmin Approach X40 golf band
Maybe you don’t want to complicate your game with lots of data, but you do want some basic help. The Garmin Approach X40 GPS golf band is a great pick for you. On the course, it keeps score, points out hazards, and records shot info to keep you honest. Off the course, it works like a fitness wristband and tracks your activity to help motivate you to keep moving, plus it’ll deliver notifications like texts and emails to your wristband from your phone.
The band has a high-sensitivity GPS to show how far you are from the pin, so you can make that next swing with confidence. You also get distances to hazards, doglegs, layup positions, and more. The X40 is also compatible with the Garmin TruSwing golf swing sensor mentioned above.
Garmin Approach S20Â GPS golf watch
Another solid pick from Garmin is the Approach S20 GPS golf watch. Get built-in GPS plus ‘AutoShot Round Analyzer’ that’ll detect every swing, measuring the shot distance and recording the data for you to pore over later. It has a digital scorecard, and it’s water-resistant in case of sudden showers on the fairway.
With Garmin’s ‘Green View’ technology you’ll know the precise shape and layout of the green. It also lets you move the pin so you can more accurately plan your shot.
This watch also has activity data tracking built in too so you won’t need a separate activity wristband, since it counts steps, calories and sleep. This device is also compatible with the Garmin TruSwing golf swing sensor.
Bushnell Tour Z6 Jolt Slope Golf Laser Rangefinder
Rangefinders are becoming standard for serious golfers. They give you that extra edge to help you improve play and enjoy the game more.
The Bushnell Tour Z6 JOLT laser rangefinder uses lasers and haptic JOLT technology that lets you know with vibrations when you’ve locked on to the flag accurately.
It’s also got Bushnell’s E.S.P.2 technology (Extreme. Speed. Precision.) which delivers yardage quickly and accurately with ranges from 5 to 1,300 yards, 450 plus yards to flags, and 1/2-yard accuracy from 5 to 125 yards.
A bright display lets you view accurate readings even in bright sunlight on the course. The Z6 is also encased in an armoured rubber and metal housing making it fully waterproof and ultra-durable.
Bushnell also has another option for seeing down the fairway; the Tour X Jolt Golf Laser GPS/Rangefinder which has dual display technology that lets you switch between the red or black display, depending on light conditions.
Jam Turf Portable speaker
There are some golf games that need a soundtrack. Whether you’re swinging and sipping beers with some buddies or enjoying a round with the girls, sometimes it’s nice to have some music. The Jam Turf wireless golf speaker is a Bluetooth speaker that’s rain and dirt-proof and can give you up to 8 hours playtime on a full charge. It’s perfect for golf, since it comes with an integrated ball marker, tees, and a carabiner, so you’re always prepared on the fairway.
Of course you’ll also no doubt need to pick up a few essentials as you get ready of the season. Best Buy has golf balls, cart covers & seats, and even club sets! Check out all the great golf gear here.
